  • Chris Noel was kind enough to allow me to do a video break down on some howls he recently recorded in Vermont. This is the first attempt at a new approach to these video spectrograms and includes a running commentary to explain more of the specifics behind my analysis.

      Yes, I've listened to some of her stuff. She has a mix of things. Some are clearly barred owl calls, others sound like good wood knocks and a few possible vocals. I was most impressed with the eye glow video she posted, that showed eye glow from three individuals moving around in a tree.

    Glad to see you back, Mon. Both you and Chris have been very influential in my Bigfoot related research endeavors. Chris, with his listening project, and you with your December 23, 2011 article entitled "Using Audacity Spectrograms to Review Audio -- A Cheat Sheet" which provided me with a foundation for me to begin to build (through a great detail of experimentation) my own framework for Bigfoot bioacoustics research. I've tried since June 2015 to reach out to you several times and have not been successful. Without your pioneering work, I wouldn't have achieved many of the breakthroughs that I have made and would like to thank you as well as picking your brain about our respective approaches to audio analyses to unveil and interpret suspected sounds of Sasquatch.

    Your "heavy woodknock" at 13:40, could possibly be a tree or something big hitting the ground. Possibly one of them pushed a tree over or dropped a boulder off a cliff or down a hill. My mom lives in Northern Vermont, literally fifteen minutes from Canada, and I have heard several howls from off in the distance, only to have the Huskies and Beagles across the valley from us respond. A lot of the time the distant howls do not sound anything like a wolf or coyote, and they do not sound like any dog I know of. MOST OF THE TIME when the howls start, my mom's dog either goes in her dog house or begs to come in, while the neighbor's dogs are going nuts and howling back. This tells me their responding to a NONCANINE TYPE HOWL... Normally I can barely hear the howls but there had been a few times they sounded VERY CLOSE and not at all Dog-like...
    And trust me I am not trolling here. I have had my run ins enough to say the Giant Undiscovered Ape theory is BULLSHIT, and those claiming it's some one running around in a Gorilla suit should get a clue about life... THESE THINGS ARE REAL. I have stared a Blond Male in the eyes from only roughly fifty feet away. He looked nothing ape-like at all... These are People, no ifs, ands or, buts about it. He looked no different than a Body Builder does, just covered in HAIR... It's not Fur, it's hair. Fur doesn't FLOW in the breeze like HAIR does. Every little breeze made this Male's hair sway. I think he was trying to cross a road with out being seen, and didn't expect to find a 10 year old in his success of crossing the road undetected, but then again his landing hard which caught my attention originally, as if he hopped the guard rail and didn't calculate the drop on the other side... The road climbed a hill and started rising a distance from the hill, the slope going past me towards the hill. Where he jumped from was like 30 feet up maybe. But quite literally it sounded like something fell off the road and landed flat on its side at the bottom, that's how loud his landing was. I looked up and just FROZE IN PLACE... I am from a family of hunters, it was instinct to go dead still just to HOPEFULLY NOT BE SPOTTED by what ever it was that just thumped near me... When I locked eyes on him, my cover was blown, they have like a sixth sense or something, the second I realized what I was looking at, his head turned and his eyes locked on me, and instead of acting aggressive, he simply turned to FULL ON FACE ME and smiled at me... I wasn't sure if it was a sign of aggression or if he was trying to keep me calm. I didn't know what else to do but wave at him, I WAS 10 WHAT DO YOU EXPECT??? He lifted a massive hand and then bounded off to my left into a marsh and I just stood there listening to him go further and further away... I kept it in for years never telling anyone until I had another encounter a few years back in the middle of a CITY PARK which is also connected to a Marsh...
    It wasn't long after the second encounter that I found out the blond male has been making himself WELL KNOWN in the area I saw him. He's been caught on camera a few times and is deliberately being obvious and technically speaking plaguing a local Author... Though the Author doesn't seem to mind, he keeps catching him and another on camera at night. Lots of peekaboo style games with the flood lights and cameras.
    I get sick of hearing people claiming these beings are dangerous... NO the only REAL MONSTERS ON THIS PLANET, ARE HUMANS... If you are gonna constantly kill each other and other species over petty resolvable things, then the only monsters are the idiotic species with war constantly on the brain. What's the next "WAR ON" going to be??? Are we gonna dump the War on Drugs to War on Sasquatch??? NOT AT ALL NECESSARY AND THEY ARE NOT HERE TO HURT US... According to what other researchers have gathered and Lore from across the planet has been saying about these beings, "THEY ARE HERE TO PROTECT US FROM THE EVIL ONES", whom ever that is... It's also been recorded that they made it clear that NIGHTIME is not safe for Humans and this is why they get pissed at us for being out in the forest at night. I have yet to hear from anyone that has encountered this topic with them. The few researchers who have gotten anything from them, are intending on trying to get more details on these "Evil Ones"... As in are the Evil Ones other Sasquatch or something else entirely? I haven't heard anything else otherwise.

      Lisa, he can send a clip to me at mongahela at gmail. Sometimes roars aren't roars at all. Many folks hear distant wood peckers in the early morning and mistake them for a roaring vocal.

    The high pass filter cuts everything below 315hz which is below most coyotes frequency range. If its worth cutting because of static noise in that range, there is no frequency signature that would be anything but coyote. In other words, the frequency range of 315hz and up is well within a coyotes range and is most likely a coyote or a flawless imitation. The distant highway noise would give low end thumps now and then from passing trucks. If theres a squatch doing that, hes by the highway, Squatch howls are pretty unmistakable and wider range of low end frequency and 5-10 times a coyotes lung capacity.

    • @SasquatchBioacoustic
      @SasquatchBioacoustic  6 лет назад +2

      The high pass filter is used to remove the low end rumble that can be caused by a number of factors, wind, distant road noise, etc. The low pass filter is to mitigate high end hiss that becomes more prominent when you remove the low end rumble. Almost everything that we hear vocalizing will display a fundamental frequency somewhere in the range of 100 Hz (e.g. bovines) up to ~2000Hz (birds). Do you assume that sasquatch would vocalize in a range different from a coyote? Following that logic, since most humans speak in the same range that coyotes use, a howling human would automatically be classified as a coyote, no? A lot of misinformation has been put out there about how sasquatch use frequencies outside the capabilities of a coyote or human. It's just not true. We all use the same range of frequencies, but we execute our vocals differently. And the sasquatch lexicon includes many more vocals than just a simple howl. If there were none of those other vocals or signals in this clip, then I would write this off as most likely coyotes. But to a trained ear, there is a lot here that suggest this is not a coyote, and is something else vocalizing (two somethings in fact). I'll point out another clue for your consideration... it's rare for a coyote to vocalize and not issue at least one bark. Do you hear any barks in this recording?

    Interesting--to the untrained ear, this would be written-off as a coyote. The mid-vocalization flipping instantly from one range up then back down again though, is something I've heard a LOT from other suspected Bigfoot recordings. I know this is an older video so you might not notice this question, but here goes....I've heard people opine that commercially available, affordable recording devices are "keyed" to sounds common to human vocal range, and therefore aren't really going to do justice to the vocal range that Bigfoot seems capable of. I wonder about that--they can pick up distant deep rumbling from highway "rumble-strips" and both coyote/wolf vocalizations, so I don't know what to make of this claim. At any rate, I think the very best suspected Bigfoot howls I've heard came from an amateur Bigfoot documentary available on Amazon, that the person recording labeled as "The Soprano"--such a lovely, high-octave clear note that it gave me chill-bumps to listen to. At any rate, nice analysis, thank you.

    • @SasquatchBioacoustic
      @SasquatchBioacoustic  5 лет назад +1

      Whoever told you that obviously doesn't understand recording equipment. Sound waves are just changes in air pressure that oscillate in cycles measured in Hertz. They are part of the electromagnetic spectrum and are colloquially grouped into frequency bands or segments with names such as "infrasound", "soprano", "whistle register", and "super sonic". Most animals are vocalizing well below "super sonic", which begins at 20000 Hz and goes up from there. Most consumer grade audio recorders and mics are designed to capture sounds between 80Hz and 24000 Hz, the widest range at which humans might be able to detect sound (most only hear up to 18000 Hz, though). A sasquatch has no need to vocalize in a range above supersonic, and they likely aren't designed to do it (very inefficient biomechacinally speaking). If the sasquatch doesn't want to be heard, he'll just bite his tongue or speak in softer tones, like every other vocalizer in the world. So next time someone tells you they are using different frequencies or are other worldly, remind them that bigfoot too must obey the laws of physics.

      @@SasquatchBioacoustic Nice explanation, thank you. Back in the day, I used to have a nearly 4-octave range--struggled with baritone though, LOL. Anyway, I've also heard people speculating if Bigfoot can produce ULF sounds, like some whale species do, and say that explains the feeling of overwhelming paranoia and fear prior to sightings. I'm not sure I buy that. It's not that I doubt they can produce very low-pitch sounds, BUT I think they're skating pretty close to the "Bigfoots come from UFOs" stuff. They're just flesh and blood animals, imho, and they're not helping things with all this "woo-woo" nonsense. If I (a regular human female) can have a 4-octave range with no help from aliens, why can't Bigfoot also have a huge range? LOL, sorry, I'm babbling, but I appreciate the effort you put into the subject!

    • @SasquatchBioacoustic
      @SasquatchBioacoustic  5 лет назад

      @@Doxymeister Yes, bigfoot do have an extensive range, possibly covering 4 or more ocaves, easily. Check out my video on the St. Louis County MN howls and you'll hear some of that range. But there might be something to the ULF infrasound theory. Their resonant chambers are large enough to generate those low notes. And I do have one recording of a friend who was hit by a possible infrasound blast, and his recorder picked up the very highest pitch when it occured. That pitch was at about 25 Hz(!), but there was likely more sound energy there that his mic couldn't pick up. I think I have a video of that recording on my channel as well.
