best way by far, having kept large angelfish tanks over the years with 100ppm at times i had tried everything you can imagine nothing works very well ,current 800gallon until.....batch denifrification i have a seperate 50 gallon water tank which is dosed with 10ml of methanol, changed once every 8 hours on a simple timer with pump so 150gal per 24hr period nitrates are 2ppm.

i tested my water for the first time and the only issue i had was having nitrate 1.1 the guy told me to buy live rock and keep it for a week to see if the nitrate cancel or something like that

I wish people would figure out siporax is all you need to lower nitrates. I've over done it in siporax and need to dose actually

If you have corals, you need some nitrates and phosphates. You will definitely see a difference with Corals as fat as growth and fullness.

I would say that should be the first method instead of last method. As in Carbon Dosing.
I just had so much success with it its unbelievable. For 2+ 3 years I've pretty much struggled with nitrates hanging at 25ppm no matter what I do. Used a skimmer, refugium etc. ESP refugium which created a big ugly mess of dark greens in the sump. When I learnt and started carbon dosing, it was almost like a miracle. 25ppm to 2.5ppm in 14 days. Now i'm learning how to maintain it low by watching the doses. This will pretty much give me close to 0 reasons to do a water change. Water changes were never really an effective way to keep nitrates down. Can you imagine how large a water change you would need especially for large tank, how much work and cost it will be. Perhaps a practice in the past. Carbon dosing was wayyyyyyyyyyyy more affordable, less work and much better results. It just requires some knowledge to utilise and not to mention, a natural way of cleaning the water.
