  • Out of the dozens of different fire extinguishers marketed, which one is the best for your home? Let's break the fire facts down so that you buy the best fire extinguisher at the best price and are prepared for the next emergency. Thank you for viewing!
Q: Why do manufacturers make BC only fire extinguishers?
A: The dry chemical used in ABC fire extinguishers is found to be corrosive and can severely damage engines/motors. BC dry chemical fire extinguishers have fewer of these corrosive chemicals, arguably better for engine/motor fires since they'll do less corrosive damage.
    ^^^
If you ask me, if an engine/motor is already on fire chances are it's going to be totaled. Class A fires are common, and you never know what type of fire you'll come across. I have a friend who carried an ABC fire extinguisher in his car thinking he'd use it if his car ever caught fire. He ended up using it on a grass fire (a class A fire) that threatened a house. With the argument being BC rated fire extinguishers are cheaper and less corrosive, the decision is yours on which type to purchase.

Hey man I recommend getting a certified inspector/engineer to install it. Or get someone more experience as it's dangerous and could risk fire safety.
