Thanks, who needs to go to the Hifi show with coverage like that! Was wondering what those new yamaha speakers sound like? I believe they utilise technology from their very expensive high end range. .
Good video Simon and agree with many of your selection. Kii was one of the standouts for me - the sound quality of their speakers coupled with they're ability to cope with any room placement and the futurefi nature and connectivity is a compelling package. Also enjoyed PMC Fenestrias - a statement speaker way beyond most peoples budget but still great to hear what its possible to achieve - a supercar of hifi if you will. Paul McGowan of PS Audio is as nice in person as he appears on youtube. Shame the FR20s were being drowned out by another exhibitor near by, couldnt hear them properly. I also didnt think attendance was good but didnt realise there was a train strike - hope it was worthwhile for everyone. Final comment on the venue - very nice location but as someone else noted, all that glass and steel didnt do anything for the sonics. Paul Miller could choose a better venue imo. Otherwise a good day and thanks again for the video Simon 👍
Thanks very much, I remember you recommended I go to the Kii Room. I agree with the glass, this was a thing in the last show I went to there, but many had got around it with traps and other treatments. :)
Thanks for sharing this video Simon. Looks like a great show to visit (beautiful location!). I hope you already have some review stuff in mind from this show (like KII Seven, PMC Prodigy, Hegel Viking, Totem Bison, MF Nuvista DAC or some PS Audio FR10's ...😉). p.s.: is it always this quiet on this show? This weekend we have the Dutch Audio Event here in The Netherlands, which will be attended by many people (and where almost every room will be very busy...).
Thanks Ron. Definitely want to try and see if I can try some of these. It might have been the train strike going on in the uk that day, but it’s a huge space at Royal Ascot so people are possibly spread out. Not like hotel type shows where you get crowding in corridors so might have been that. 😀
great coverage Simon - I liked you showing the products with the manufacturers talking, very clean and concise. Would love to know your opinions on some of your favourite systems that you heard :)
@@13thnotehifireviews7 it works well - appreciate the longer reply too, not sure where it’s gone, but I read it in my inbox - makes perfect sense - look forward to seeing some of these products in your upcoming reviews, fingers crossed 🤞
Awesome dude! What a venue, Motorsport and Hifi… BTW I’m curious about the totem pole that seems to be your moniker? What’s the significance? Thank you 🙏
Donno but they were smaller than I envisaged, but that's often a large room can make them appear small. I'd love to try these with the Hegel I have or this Gato Audio AMP-150 I have atm on loan.
@@13thnotehifireviews7 Yep, they did appear quite small. I think they're about 88db efficient. I bet the Hegel would sound great with these little guys.
I remember that when I was at school, me and my friend went to the Audio Fair at the Russell Hotel. We couldn't afford to buy Quad then, I spent the next 50 years ...... Nah still cannot afford to spend that sot of money! Though I have a small pot of money...…..Buckhardt S400 Mk II and Heaven 11 Billie Mk2 ????
You should of but no worries. I got quite a few saying hello which was nice. The most unusual encounter I’ve had so far was in my home town in essex, travelling on a bus and he recognised me and was a RUclips subscriber. That made it very small world
It sure is a small world. I'll say hello another time. It was my first hifi expo and certainly not my last.! Out of the smaller rooms, Origin Live really impressed 👍🏽
You’ve got to have a look around I think, like wiim on display with the app being demonstrated. Most of them would do well to have more budget friendly gear I agree
Went on Saturday and had a great day. It was great to see Paul McGowan. Such a decent guy. It was a little quiet (probably due to the rail strike) which is a shame. Hope it was still a profitable weekend for all involved. I love this venue. Sad to say I was a little disappointed with Absolute Sounds Wilson/D'Agastino demo which seemed to focus more on volume and power over finesse and was bested (in my opinion) by other cheaper setups.
He is such a decent guy, I’ve chatted to him on email for ages so really wanted to see what his best system is about and give him airtime. I’m not sure if the strike did but I agree it is a stunning location. Can’t help think of the racing history there. The chicken burgers on their weird Japanese style, order on a screen thing in the bar, were good. I didn’t go into the absolute sounds room, I tried to keep it a bit real and tried to hear more of the stuff that sounds good but isn’t too crazy money. The Goldenear’s got me wondering how they compare to the Adam audio actives I currently have.
Totally understand you avoiding the Absolute Sounds demo as that gear is way out of my price range too. Curiosity got the better of me though as I missed their demo at the last show. I've always been impressed with the Golden Ears, would also be interested in how they compare. The KII room was sounded pretty impressive too. I thought the PS Audio system/new speakers were sounding very nice. No harsh highs, very neutral and clean sounding. It is so difficult to judge at a show though. I wish I could get to spend some time with these systems after everyone goes home. Id be like a kid on Christmas day.
Thank you for filming. I look forward to when Hifi news changes venue . I went in 2019 and all that steel & glass did that lavish equipment no favours . Pleased to see Yamaha who do a decent product at realistic price . I bought a Yamaha As1200 6 months back and its fantastic.
Ahh that poor chap eating his lunch on his own on the intro 😢. The sound difference when you went from the T+A room to Yamaha was incredible. T+A sounded soooo good compared . Could just be the track I suppose. Are you doing a future vid of the full show Simon .
@@itk2493possibly, I don’t know. The Bristol show is in an inner city location so that may account for more cost, but you might be right and Royal Ascot racecourse is a pretty flash place. I know why the late queen liked it.
Don't understand how people can say this sounds good and better than that --- when the person is listening through the same system via a compressed RUclips stream. There is no way to appreciate the imaging and the quality of the original source. At best you get to see the equipment some of which looks fab. Just my thoughts all the best.
What an excellent way to start a week,, 👍🥰👍
Thanks Simon,, 💖🙏💖
thanks very much too Irene :)

Thanks for taking the time to do this Simon, unable to attend so good to get a view of the show👍
My pleasure
Thanks Simon, great video as always. Would really like to see a review of the Kii Seven as well as the Golden Ear speakers you liked.
Thanks Christian. I’d like to try those too, as I love actives.

You are welcome!
Great interviews Simon! very informative. We missed you at Daventry! :)
Thanks. I didn’t do much interviewing though. Don’t really do interviews. Just gave mic airtime😀👍🎶🔊

Did the golden ear brx have a sub supporting them the bass sounded deep & rich for a small bookshelf ?

Defo nicer than Bristol and way more space which may be why didn’t look that busy. I think the Bristol organisers should hold it here
