I've been listening to this over and over again today after I've been REALLY struggling with my trauma with SA as of late. A loggerhead shrike is such a perfect bird to use to illustrate how it felt though, and the "It doesn't matter what I said or didn't / Admit it / You were never going to get it / And I was always gonna get it" has been a heavy comfort for me already. Saying no wasn't going to stop anything, I didn't have any control in the situation
This fits oddly well with the idea of Slay The Princess at times! Pretty cool. It's also just a wonderful song- something about this particular type of thing is just YES.
The “familiarity breeds indifference, familiarity breeds discontent” part is soooo desert duo post third life going into double life teamed up once again- like even though their memory canonically gets reset they they still feel some sort of familiarity with each other 🥲
"Familiarity breeds Indifference. Familiarity breeds discontent." I have never seen words that describe what I felt afterwards as well as this. Beautiful.
This song feels to me like a character arguing with themselves in the mirror “I said it, I didn’t, I said it, I didn’t”, their reflection desperately if not angrily trying to convince them to break free of something or someone, a situation that’s slowly becoming worse as they refuse to see it for what it truly is.They are grappling with the reality that their situation isn’t what they want it to be, and slowu throughout the song, the situation grows worse and worse for them, and they are weighed down by their grappling internally and finally at the end of something even more profound and tragic due to their circumstances, they return to the mirror, it’s cracked “Can I explode now?” Like there’s something about this song, songs with specific named birds have something baked into them that is untold and wonderful.
I love all of this interpretation, and the mirror imagery! I definitely see those lyrics as indicating a conflict between the narrator and themself. It's so exciting to me as a songwriter to see someone really picking up what I'm putting in the song! :D

The way you sing and connected the sequence of notes at 2:38 from "A pungent, putrid brownish-green" to "November smile" really hits me nearly every listen. Love that little sequence.
This has been playing on loop for a good five hours now, I've been dancing around my room to it off and on, and now I'm gonna sleep to it. I will switch to another song eventually, but rn this is my jam and I will refuse to listen to anything else.
I know I already commented once but I just want to comment again because this song has slowly moved up to my #1 favorite, I just can’t get over the faint sound of birdsong during the “one small sound, one small bite, one tomial tooth, one loggerhead shrike” part it’s just so weirdly empowering, like your wings finally grew and you’re no longer trapped by the chains trauma binds you to. You can finally thrive despite everything people have done to hurt you, and that alone is vengeance enough. It’s so comforting to me. I can finally learn how to love myself again
I'm amazed by the composition of this song! The warbling composition, the chosen instruments, the shrike line (a favorite since shrikes are so interesting to me), the ending! Phenomenal!
"Familiarity breeds indifference/discontent" one sentence or phrase from a lyric that sums the entire meaning of the song or resonates with me will grab my attention. Add some catchy beat, and I'll definitely be hooked 🤘 definitely i love this song!!
I got here from the "whuch fandom claims this song" vid on Instagram - fir the record its the Life Series, this feels very BigB/Cleo duo or very Martyn/Ren duo!
this for renchanting is so real... "One rust-ridden blade juts out of a friendly moonstruck shape to tear, tear terribly, terribly, tеar, tear terribly"
Came he from a GTWS animatic and HOLY CRAP I NEED TO MAKE MY OWN ANIMATIC FOR THIS SONG!! Off topic but I also think its really cool how you are active and interacting with your community
The dedication you have to continue reading comments up to now! I applaud that. As an animator and artist, i plan on using parts of this song for future videos! Its veryy catchy and many lyrics remind me of my own ocs
The fact that people continue to comment really means so much to me! Since this some came out I’m smiling more than I have in years (and I smiled already, just now it’s noticeably more). I’m excited to see how you use parts of the song!!
I’m late to the party but god I am addicted to this song!! The lyric play is the most satisfying thing I’ve heard in my life and I can’t stop listening. This song oozes tension if that makes any sense? Like barely concealed anger or hate, bubbling under. I am in LOVE good lord!
When this song first played on my spotify, I was listening to the entire discography of Fish in a Birdcage and at first didn't even realize it wasn't them-
Whoa! This is literally so cool. I love how there are a ton of differing styles and rhythms but it still stays cohesive. The instrumentals are really awesome aswell.
This song sounds like audible insanity in the most satisfying way in the form of abstract lyrics and a frequently changing tempo/instrumental vibe It just works!
The artist has never stated the actual meaning of this song, and have even said they prefer to let it take on its own meaning, but... I hear it as the internal/external conflict of a very jaded time traveller who eventually kills their past self. And the more I think about it, I can't unhear it. Quite strange at first, but think about it! A lot of the lines just speak of distress or can be taken as artistic metaphor for internal conflict. But two of the most jarring choices of words are the repeated mention of a "parallel universe" and a time machine. If you take those at face value, the rest all starts to make a more literal sense. The repeated importance of "one small word" and "familiarity breeds indifference" is his initial strive for perfection, using time travel to relive moments until they go exactly right. "I said it (I didn't)" is not internal conflict, it's him literally iterating over every word and action he says or doesn't say, does or doesn't do, again and again. Those tiny differences ripple across the world through a butterfly effect, to "tongues all over the world". Obsession with every tiniest action he takes, if he wants to make things perfect. Yet he despairs that no matter how much he tries, he'll never make everything perfect, and he'll never fix all his imperfections ("I'll never hide my scars"). He even forgoes morality and commits murders in alternate timelines ("One unsheathed knife") in trying to make everything how he wants it to be. How he can be indifferent to even murder eats at him ("familiarity breeds..."). This obsession with perfection drives him to self-loathing. "Familiarity breeds discontent". In time, as actions become more and more drastic he becomes more and more disillusioned, until he comes up with the most drastic of solutions: killing his past self, to stop all of this madness from ever happening. The second chorus, "my other time machine" and the famous "one loggerhead shrike" is him committing this act, sung with a terrible venom for his spineless "invertebrate" past self. All of this happened in one month of real time, the month of November, and this last murder is one more drop of blood in the many murders that never happened. The very strong disdain in his words is for his past self and what he knew they would become. And so, with the ruthlessness of the man he became, he kills his past self very brutally. And so it finally no longer matters what he said or didn't. He was never going to achieve perfection ("you were never going to get it"); this was always going to happen instead. This also gives new meaning to the strangely anticlimactic ending. He ponders on his own past self's blood on his hands, and then the song ends as this paradoxical future ceases to be. ("can I explode now.")
Absolutely love this song. 'blood it stickier than water' is a wonder of a line. And really any song with a shrike reference is enough to make me go feral. I'm sure if you played this to some shrikes with the correct inclination they would probably be willing to impale someone for you.
THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS SONG! It gave me inspiration for my next dnd character. Well actaully I'm using 3 of your songs for this dnd character. But her backstory is basically using the words literally. The base of her backstory is that her and her twin goes into a crypt where they find a cursed tome. When they first get the crypt she hears a voice in her head hence the "one small sound" gets possessed and says the words to release the entities powers hence the "one small word...I said it, I didn't, I said it...". And then so on and so on. Hopefully my party members don't see this hahaha. I just need to write her backstory out more and give her a name. She's going to be an owlin as well, so your album extra fits for her. Thanks again!
Finding this due to a fandom. Was the best thing that’s happened all week. I love it so much. Like the part were they sing “One Loggerhead Shrike must skewer. My invertebrate doppelgänger. On barbed wire in a parallel universe” and how these a small gap between “strike” and “must”. That lest it work with the list above while flowing into the next line. Not even to mention the instrument. That allows for the choppy words (not should the actual name for it) to work so well. I’m going to have a love hate relationship with how many times I’m gonna put this on loop. Gonna become a earworm.
This is my new favourite song! No other poetry has explained so much of my life. For once my memory of times when for example someone tried to murder me (I can't help but think of this songs many meanings, including the literal) brought a smile because my appreciation for this song is stronger than my repulse of those images. I've come to love art, song and literature especially when each line bears as much weight as they do in this song. Thank you for sharing this :D Btw, Rebecca DeMoss and Chad Lowe did a splended job, these strings don't tie straight.
Thank you so much for this really thoughtful comment! I think I can relate to the feeling you’re describing, because this song makes me so happy even though it’s about really dark memories. It’s like putting it all out there in this way feels like a kind of justice is being served. Poetic justice!
My next single Mayday! is angsty and dramatic! It should be out next month. You could also try Lead & Tin, it’s out under my name (Stephan Nance). Hope or Float and Reverse Nature Shock might resonate too!
I came from Instagram in a post of Which fandom will adopt this song and I guessed Undertale with obly the part of "Can't take them out, Can't push them in, I'll never hide my scars."
My cousin said this song reminds him of me and i initially didnt care much for it but it quickly grew on me and became one of my favorites. It amazing how the sounds come together in this song, its genuinely beautiful. It resonates in me with a sort of hope yet uncertainty for what is to come with acceptance of the past, thats just how i feel about it though. Amazing song!!
I really appreciate you sharing your thoughts!! And I can relate to your experience with it, because I typically need to listen to songs at least a few times to like them. I'm so glad it grew on you!
The "I never hide my scars" lines is so relatable for me due to me being extremely clumsy sometimes and everyday I'm always showing a scar or two due to where they are
I still love coming back to listen to this on repeat- its a great song to get through long winded crafting sessions lol. Gives me something upbeat and flowy to jam out to to help my adhd & let me actually focus on what I'm doing 🤣

Man this song is addicting! I’m so very enamoured with it, it is on constant loop in my mind and playlist. The vocals at the start I really enjoy too, I think they’re present throughout but that layering of “one small sound, one small word” at the beginning has a very ghostly sense to me. Man the people saying that this scratches their brain in the right way are absolutely right my brain is feeling VERY scratched. Also this song literally feels like it was made to be in an animatic for someones OC who’s bitter about what life has thrown at them and might be about to make some questionable decisions. It’s got all the good vibes for it and it’s kinda making me wanna make a bird themed OC specifically to do that :o
My friend shared this song with me, and i can’t get the idea of a FNAF animatic with this song out of my head, the words just feel like the story, a mess but so horrible. The song itself is wonderfully majestic, it feels like nature. Its words are dark in places and it feels harsh but the instruments make it feel so soft despite the seemingly annoyed words. It feels chaotic and beautiful all at once, with a mesh of random styles all in it, different delivery for the words all over it. It reminds me of Ship In a Bottle by FIN, and I can’t explain how. I love it
THIS IS SO GOOD WAAAA, i usually avoid this genre of music because it makes me think of my past but honestly, for this banger I'm willing to heal so i can be able to listen to more of your music 🙏🙏
I'm so glad you listened and commented! This song was part of my healing process... And my new song ("Sparkbird") is way more uplifting and hopeful, so maybe that one will help balance things out!

@@someonesschoolacc37 ohhh I can see that!!
This has been playing on loop for a good five hours now, I've been dancing around my room to it off and on, and now I'm gonna sleep to it. I will switch to another song eventually, but rn this is my jam and I will refuse to listen to anything else.
AWWWW wow, I’m so honored!!
spotify song suggest did me SO well. i can't stop listening to this song and i've shared it with my friends - let the plague spread !!
Omg THANK YOU!! That helps me so much!!!
@@sparkbirdmusic its what your music DESERVES !!! they love it, im glad any little bit helps
when i am blessed with the mental capacity for animation again i am so making a short animation with the bit at 2:49 its on loop in my head forever
I hadn't even thought about the sound you're talking about as birdsong, but I totally hear what you mean!
I'm amazed by the composition of this song! The warbling composition, the chosen instruments, the shrike line (a favorite since shrikes are so interesting to me), the ending! Phenomenal!
Thank you for these lovely words! I get the sense that you’re a writer yourself :)
The song loops so well, for a moment I hadn't realised it was and was like. huh this song is longer than I thought, ah well.
the beat switches in this song is immaculate, it just brings flavor to an already beautiful song.
Aw, thank you so much!!
incredible. Theres so many things happening in this song. Really fun to listen to. a real toe tapper as they say
Thank you!! This means a lot to me ❤️
"Familiarity breeds indifference/discontent"
one sentence or phrase from a lyric that sums the entire meaning of the song or resonates with me will grab my attention. Add some catchy beat, and I'll definitely be hooked 🤘 definitely i love this song!!
Thank you!! I’m so glad it grabbed you :D
I can totally see myself listening to this often. It makes me want to draw and dance at the same time
I want to see those dance-drawings! :D
I got here from the "whuch fandom claims this song" vid on Instagram - fir the record its the Life Series, this feels very BigB/Cleo duo or very Martyn/Ren duo!
So many people are saying Life Series!!
this for renchanting is so real... "One rust-ridden blade juts out of a friendly moonstruck shape to tear, tear terribly, terribly, tеar, tear terribly"
yep yep this is so renchanting
Found this at random while scrolling through Yt shorts, pretty nice song.
Came he from a GTWS animatic and HOLY CRAP I NEED TO MAKE MY OWN ANIMATIC FOR THIS SONG!!
Off topic but I also think its really cool how you are active and interacting with your community
aahhh thank you!! If you make an animatic I’d love to see it!
This is definetly a song I'd listen to on repeat until I get sick of it, but I'll try not to let it get to that point. I love it too much to lose it.
Awwwww
I’m late to the party but god I am addicted to this song!! The lyric play is the most satisfying thing I’ve heard in my life and I can’t stop listening. This song oozes tension if that makes any sense? Like barely concealed anger or hate, bubbling under. I am in LOVE good lord!
When this song first played on my spotify, I was listening to the entire discography of Fish in a Birdcage and at first didn't even realize it wasn't them-
this song gives me such strong In Stars and Time vibes! the lyrics fit so well for a character stuck in a timeloop
man this song has such good writing, love it😭especially the line "ill never hide my scars"
Aw, thank you!! I have stickers with that lyric if you want one :)
Whoa! This is literally so cool. I love how there are a ton of differing styles and rhythms but it still stays cohesive. The instrumentals are really awesome aswell.
This means so much to me! Thank you ❤️
Oh I KNOW my alto ass is gonna be belting this for a week ❤️🔥🔥‼️‼️
At 0:49 it fits so well with my rpg character's story!! I'll definitely add it if I ever make him a Playlist.
Ahhh that's cool!!
This song sounds like audible insanity in the most satisfying way in the form of abstract lyrics and a frequently changing tempo/instrumental vibe
It just works!
Thank you!!!
When the song is named after a month in fall/winter it’s guaranteed to be a fucking banger
uh oh, my new song is called Mayday
may is also an exception
The gentle "Can I explode now" at the end - so good!
Aww thank you!!
@@sparkbirdmusic 💚
i kept my word and have indeed been looping this all day because i love it but i ALSO just found out that youre nonbinary too which is AWESOME ????
Aahhh thank you!!! :D
Just claiming my "been here before dude got million followers" card. :)
Awww, this is so sweet! A million followers is A TON, I definitely don’t expect that but thank you for believing in me!! :D
@@sparkbirdmusic nah it's coming! With such talent definitely. Listened to November a ton at work. Believing in you! :)
Absolutely love this song. 'blood it stickier than water' is a wonder of a line. And really any song with a shrike reference is enough to make me go feral. I'm sure if you played this to some shrikes with the correct inclination they would probably be willing to impale someone for you.
LOL that's high praise indeed!
this song was on a playlist for alice and gwen from the magnus protocol and now it won't ever leave my head i love it
OOH I need to find that playlist…
Aahhh this is so cool to read! It means a lot that you felt inspired by my music!
The shrike analogy is MWAH. Bird refs make me go crazy 🙏
oh no ever since iI found this song I cant stop listening to it.. in this face familiarity doesn't breed discontent.
familiarity breeds… obsession??
@@sparkbirdmusic Perhaps..
Thank you so much for this comment, it's exciting to hear your thoughts on the lyrics and delivery! :D I'm glad it's working for you :)
I think The choppiness is called staccato. :) hope this helps!
Came from the tiktok abt resilient OC. Your music is so much like Fish in a Birdcage!! Brb Imma binge listen to all of your songs now💞😩
I LOVE Fish in a Birdcage, that's high praise!!
Thank you for sharing this :D
Btw, Rebecca DeMoss and Chad Lowe did a splended job, these strings don't tie straight.
Thank you so much for this really thoughtful comment! I think I can relate to the feeling you’re describing, because this song makes me so happy even though it’s about really dark memories. It’s like putting it all out there in this way feels like a kind of justice is being served. Poetic justice!
I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH AAAAAAAAA
I love this song and need 30 million more songs just like it asap. currently writing more backstory for my D&D main villain to this
My next single Mayday! is angsty and dramatic!
Cool!! More and more people have been saying Undertale!
This song feels like taking back control
Ooh I love that
My cousin said this song reminds him of me and i initially didnt care much for it but it quickly grew on me and became one of my favorites.
The "I never hide my scars" lines is so relatable for me due to me being extremely clumsy sometimes and everyday I'm always showing a scar or two due to where they are
That is so real, I definitely have a number of ADHD-related scars
already commented on ur tiktok w this song but i am sending this to everyone i know it's so good. animatic potential goes crazy
Omg I appreciate this so much, thank you thank you thank you

Yesss that makes me so so happy, thank you
I've been obsessed with this song ever since I heard it!!! I can't stop listening to it on repeat
:D That makes me so happy, I’ve been worried people would stop listening since it isn’t November anymore!
I still love coming back to listen to this on repeat- its a great song to get through long winded crafting sessions lol. Gives me something upbeat and flowy to jam out to to help my adhd & let me actually focus on what I'm doing 🤣

OMG WELCOME BACK
I came from a reel I saw of the artist talking about how the Good Omens fandom claims this song and I was fascinated by it... I would like very much someone to do an animation with it, it fits perfect (especially the ending) and the song is very beautiful and catchy, I just love the vibe ahhh😭🫶💥💕
Thank you so much!! I’ve seen some Good Omens fan art and at least one edit but no animations yet!
Found this one on TikTok. I was curious and I wasn't disappointed!
And where I live, mountains are craggy, lots of variety in terms of trees and terrain, and this song gives me vibes of someone taking a hike through it. I'm talking harsh terrain known for cutting up feet to planes and forests
Ooh, that’s really visceral imagery, I love it. Thank you for listening!

This song makes me so happy because I really rarely see Loggerhead Shrikes in media, it’s my most favourite strike (I even based my main character on the species :D) and it’s such a specific bird I never saw it anywhere, finding this song in my insta was the best thing that ever happened to me😭😭❤️
This makes me SO happy!! Loggerhead shrikes are such great birds
Man this song is addicting! I’m so very enamoured with it, it is on constant loop in my mind and playlist.
The vocals at the start I really enjoy too, I think they’re present throughout but that layering of “one small sound, one small word” at the beginning has a very ghostly sense to me. Overall this song is a new favourite, and I’m so excited to take a look at more of your music!

YES to bird themed OCs!!! And I love this interpretation, it’s honestly fantastic.
I've now connected this to ttrpg ocs whoops, its a really good and fits so good with their backstory-
yaaaay :D
you're so underrated it hurts
You should have seen me a month ago!! Things are really blowing up (relatively speaking), it’s so wild
I love it
SHIP IN A BOTTLE MENTIONED!!!?!
SHIP IN A BOTTLE HAS BEEN MENTIONED. I REPEAT, FISH IN A BOTTLE HAS BEEN MENTIONED
ME MENTIONED?!1?1!1?1?1??1 (youre welcome 😎)
