In fact if anyone here wants to get into it and wants to learn any of my 3 characters (kokonoe, arakune, mu-12) I'll happily help you learn
Blazblue got me hooked into fighting games. It literally taught me how fucking up is bad by making it look so damn cool. Then when you pull of your own cool shit it feels so fucking cool. Like the game is just cool and is definitely my #1 fighting game.
Blazblue always looked absolutely gorgeous to me but as someone who just got into fighting games i had to find something with active beginner player base..Wish they make a new Blazblue game tho
while i literally agree with everything you say, i feel like the discords aren't anywhere near as friendly or helpful as you want them to be. Ive tried to get into multiple "discord fighters" recently and all I ever get when i ask for help is someone offering to teach me how to play the game, followed by them smashing me 50 sets in a row at a relentless level and then saying "ermm you need to press 5b more, i dunno, i not really good at explaining", then proceed to never play again and just go back to playing in their niche little group of friends. its like they don't want the game to grow, they just want to moan about the game not having enough players.
Not gonna lie never took Blazblue more seriously than just a "fighting game between friends" level, but man the story when its serious it clicks with me. Hands down the last stretch in Central Fiction with Ragna is peak
I'm going to be honest, if Central Fiction is really having a resurgence like everyone claims and is free from discord jail, I am going to reinstall this game in a heartbeat. Though the any skill level is gone, I think I tried it once they added rollback and man unless you're in new player specific lobbies the game is definitely in that late stage where you're either getting someone who is playing it for the first time or someone who has been playing since BBCT and there is basically no in between. Just had to put that in for anyone playing BBCF for the literal first time.
Funny story: I achievement hunt and was going for 100% on the game just last month. There are a couple ranked achievements so I had to play ranked for the 1st time in my 200+ hrs on the game. I ran into like 6 different people in those ranked lobbies and 1/2 of them were obviously beginners. I was honestly shocked I could get ranked games at all let alone folks of any skill level. I cannot guarantee you will have that same experience and as I say in the video, I do recommend discord matchmaking for this game if you are a beginner (it is 10 years old after all) but not every rando on the game is a god in my experience.

i recently picked up bbcf after a year or two on other fighters. over that time i never really *got* what people meant by "expression" both player, and combo. after picking up bb, HOLY SHIT, HOLY CRAP, I LEARNED A FEW ROUTES ON ES AND LIKE IT ALL WORKS TOGETHER. IF I KNOCKDOWN INTO 2D 5A 2C J.C I CAN GO INTO MY 214B LOOPS. dont want 214b loops? 5b 6b air combo works, do you wanna end it in j2bbb? you can do that, wanna end with a j.d oki setup? you can do that. wanna get godlike corner carry? go into 214c loops with 6c. ALL THIS IS JUST OFF ONE KNOCKDOWN SETUP. this is literally just how the combos work, its not even going into how the neutral works and how expressive you can be in thst. xrd introduced me to player expression, bbcf gave me the wheel and told me to take it wherever the hell i want
Lore hits so fucking hard. The entire reason why Blazblue has pretty much become my favorite thing of recently is purely because it's a fighting game with SO MUCH COOL STORY AND CHARACTERS -- and the fact that the gameplay absolutely SLAPS so hard that even a more casual fighting game player like me can learn and have fun is phenomenal.
I think the thing I like about BlazBlue Central Fiction the most is that it has something for everyone, if your traditional fighting game player whose looking for a deep and complex game to really sink your time into, "BlazBlue Central Fiction" can feel that need, since this is a game that is arguably just as complex as "Guilty Gear XRD Revelator," with the game like Revelator having legacy skill, meaning if you haven't stuck with the game since the original back in 2008 you have a MASSIVE hill to climb in learning frame data for each character's normals, gatlings, and overall mobility options that can be used on offense and neutral. Then there are the game's plentiful system mechanics, such as having a half a dozen options on defense that you need to master such as having four ways to block based on specific scenarios for example, and the game having a multitude of wake up options with each having a specific use, and that's not even going into the Drive mechanic, which is a unique action for each character, which there are OVER 35 of, which MOST of the cast plays VASTLY DIFFERENT from each other. Mainline BlazBlue games were HUGE in japan, with it being popular in many Japanese arcades, and as Obama stated in a podcast with Blasted Salami that the series had at one point been up there even with the almighty Tekken in terms of popularity. With many veterans like Dogura ( who is one of the best players in Guilty Gear who uses Slayer) and Fenrich ( who is arguably the best BB player, and currently one the best in DBFZ) representing the series for a long time . Sadly, The series just never took off over here in the west. However, the lack of popularity nationwide doesn't equate to the game's quality. The fact that is arguably the most unique AND complex 2D fighter on the market, but isn't talked about hardly at all in the west was always baffling to me. Especially when I read comments, and watch videos of people in the FGC complaining about how boring fighting games have gotten recently, or how easy it has become and yet will REFUSE to give the game a try. Thankfully, that seems to be changing, for instance Lord Knight, a tournament player who plays a variety of different fighting games recently made a fighting game tier list and put "BlazBlue Central Fiction" near the top, as well as popular Guilty Gear content creators like Obama saying on blasted salami's podcast that "BlazBlue Central Fiction" is arguably just as hard as Guilty Gear Xrd. For those who want to see high level game play in order to get a grasp of how hype this game can potentially be for you, I'd recommend a video titled "BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma Grand Finals - Evo 2014" on youtube, and while the game represented there is not Central Fiction, I think it works, since Central Fiction is more of an evolution of Chrono Phantasma any way. Other channel's include "Burst Recap" and "Jourdal" for more high level Japanese play. Finally, BB TAG and mainline BlazBlue games are two SEPARATE things all together, with BBTAG having it's own set of rules with the system mechanics, and SIMPLIFYING ALL of the characters. It's for these reasons that you can't approach "BlazBlue Central Fiction" in the same way that you would BBTAG. What's cool about the BlazBlue series is even if you don't care about the complex game play there's STILL a lot of stuff to do in the games, with BBCF in particular having a TON of continent in it, with a story mode that takes DOZENS of hours to complete, and an RPG like mode that takes EVEN longer. All of this is in addition to all the things you can unlock, like music, character colors, and artwork from the developers. Heck, I even made a video titled "BlazBlue: Best Single Player Content In A Fighting Game?" that goes into more detail on all of this if any one's curious. This of course is just my two cents, and the metrics of what makes a great fighting game is going to VARY from person to person. And I'm always going to give a like to positive BlazBlue Central Fiction content.

I loved BlazBlue because the characters design. I don't know much about the story 😂 but the characters having their own unique abilities stood out to me.
Hey, if you find someone who is very good at BBCF, chat with them and play as much as you can. As far as I know, Blazblue players are ready to teach you anything about the game.
Blazblue is peak fighting game for me. It's visual design is one of the greatest, it has the best variety of interesting and unique characters each having it's own playstyle. I stopped playing for one reason only. I'm not a good FG player, I can still consider myself a beginer, because whil I've been interested in FG for years I haven't played them a lot. And with Blazblue it's kinda difficult to find beginner players to play with. I could regularly find some people on discord, but it's not like I can start a game whenever I want and play at any time I want. I've played with people on discord for a while, but it became tiring at some point.
@@BlazblueFan playing with "fellow beginners" over discord is certainly good as a substitute for matchmaking but that's only half of the equation imo. What's important, I think is trying to make friends within these communities so you have friends to play with and get better alongside and not just rando games on tap. The C in FGC. its totally feature rich but its not complete. i still remember the bs around its early release just cuz arc wanted that xmas cash and didnt bother tellin any of the eng va's that they dont have a job for the finale. plus none of the lore building extras were put in cuz of the same reason iirc. still a great game tho
I've bounced off so many characters in this series over the years. Every time there'd be a sick design or awesome moves, but with characters locked behind some annoying extra resource or submechanic that dragged to track and manage. It turns out Central Fiction is such a nice final resting place for the series. It really is an anime fighter that feels ~finished~, complete with well-thought-out interactions and game feel. I'm glad I circled the character-select screen until I clicked with a character without cooldowns or extra meters to work with-Taokaka footsies in the context of these matchups and systems are sick af!
I trained my whole friend circle how to play this game. Now one of them is league's better than me. We get together and play about once a month, lots of drinking, always a good time.
For anybody that's still on the fence, and is new to fighting games, I just wanna add that Blazblue's stylish mode is great, much better than street fighter 6, as it doesn't take away buttons from you and always auto-combos. You have no excuse not to play!
I dunno wtf it is about this game but every time i boot up this game i get interested in trying another character and end up wanting to play most the cast. Except mai she's lame as shit
i got into blazblue 13 years ago it was one of my first anime fighters if i had not found a long time friend of mine to teach me the game i would of dropped it years ago
since strive crashes on start up on my computer now (idk why), im going to redownload blazblue and try to learn it. I want to play bullet but 360's are so hard
Im here with an update if anyone cares. 1) i learned that you dont have to do a full and/or perfect 360 do pull off a 360 move. my 360's look like pentagons most of the time and it works. 2) I dont have to do a 360 that aligns with my character's facing position! I always thought if i was on the right side (the side I have the most trouble with), i'd have to start the 360 in the foward position (in this case the left side), but I can do my standardard left side 360 and it still works. im still very inconsistent but ive made slow progress towards learning bullet motion inputs!
This game got me into getting serious with Fighting Games, I met friends because of it, I entered my first tournaments because of it, it end up turning into my favorite game of all time. Playing the previous games and 100% story mode this franchise turned into my all time favorite, there's something for everyone here from the most casual to the most hardcore, and I enjoy every aspect of it. Do as the man said, please play BlazBlue.
I love BB and all, but it is literally not possible to break into the multiplayer at this point. Unless you have a friend already into it that is willing to take the time to mentor you and share the oral tradition then give up. After years of casually playing these games single player and firing myself up to make attempts at multiplayer now and then, I was eventually able to get a basic gameplan down where I can beat a goldfish that doesn't know how to fight back. (Also pretty good against AI so that's fun I guess) This hasn't helped even 1% against experienced players as they are so much better than me in every "stat" that I don't even understand what I need to improve or how I would even going about solving a problem if I did know what needed to be fixed. (dustloop is barren outside of frame data and combos. A simple, hey question of "Hey, what is he actually doing with this mixup and how do I defend against it?" is literally not possible to answer outside of just knowing somebody in the know, recording footage to show them, and having them explain it. The game's been out for ages. This should be solved by now) The other tragedy? I'm now too good to play with actual new players. If they don't know what they're doing I can reliably loop pressure that they don't know how to defend against. I now can't even enjoy the odd new player I come across anymore because it just feels like bullying and I want to stop. Unless I find that occasional unicorn that's on a similar level to me then a game isn't even being played. I think this game would be the best fighting game around if it had the population to support all skill levels, but I just don't see the game getting a spike of a couple thousand concurrent players to support a real playerbase. (I have gripes with the awful ranked system as well where I think it would be hard to find someone on a similar level to you even with a real pop, but that's not even a relevant conversation at this point)
@@Lenarian breaking into the multiplayer isnt impossible, you would just need to make friends with other beginners or have the patience to lose against better players until you're good enough not to. I empathize to an extent but I've received a few similar comments since dropping this video and I disagree with this premise that the game or community owes you wins or fellow newbies to beat up. If you're new, you should expect to lose. Stick with it and eventually you'll win. If someone does beat you, send a message and see if they want to play with you and help you learn. Worst they can say is no. I don't mean to downplay how hard it can be as a beginner but all the game can do is exist as is. The C in FGC is important and community is a resource. It will always be harder on anyone trying to go it alone.

so it's a discord fighter? as a casual that's not really good(mostly on mid ladder on most fighting game) i dont really like to play an fg populated with mostly good player
There is a channel dedicated to beginners tho and you can prolly learn more if you fight with better opponents since you can learn alot from them because of how they move and play the game. I'd say just play it in your own phase, you won't get good in a day and don't be afraid to lose.
I hated this game when it came out because the skill ceiling was way too high (and the netcode sucked ass) but it's seriously the only Fighting Game I play anymore. The only thing shitty about it is you'll realize fighting games have been downhill ever since. It feel rewarding playing a character like Carl and hitting the basic Bnbs with the doll, or doing Izanami float combos in a match. I don't think they're going to make a fighting game as good as this ever again. Tekken 8 is trash, SF6 is garbage, strive sucks... I already played Type Lumina and Uni 2--they suck too, they're discord fighters lol

@@Count_Meowza that's what it's all about! Thanks for watching.
@@theSHELFables and thank you for making the effort to keep my favorite game of all time relevant.
Shoutout to that one dog on Bascule
For anybody that's still on the fence, and is new to fighting games, I just wanna add that Blazblue's stylish mode is great, much better than street fighter 6, as it doesn't take away buttons from you and always auto-combos.
You have no excuse not to play!
can be added that some characters like kagura have unique playstyle and combos in stylish mode because of how it interacts with his charges
@@ElKariboosama holy cow I didn't know that, that is so cool!
0:35 Yay, The Last Blade 2... the first fighting game I actually took seriously.
Amano my GOAT
Oh cool, it has rollback now. I might redownload one of these days

Thank you!

Blazblue best fighting game hands down.
Love this game. Would have probably loved it a lot more if I wasn't so trash at it. 😂
we were all trash at one point brother. just gotta keep at it!
Man this game has truly aged like a fine wine.
Tager mains are still disgusting creatures by the way.
since strive crashes on start up on my computer now (idk why), im going to redownload blazblue and try to learn it.
@@slingshotperidotgood progress man. I wanna play with you sometime, do you got any discords for people that still plays the game?
BBCF is really fun, but if you want peak BB gaming, play calamity trigger.
Bring some homies over, hop on BBCT and go wild.
*BARK ONSLAUGHT!* 🐕🐕🐕
a wise man once said: "if a friend tells you to play blazblue, remember, he is not your friend"
jk of course
This is why it falls on me, a stranger to do it! 🙂
Fire cian: main fantasy do be a goated game

Great video, but the Discord Link doesnt work. Is there anyway you could post a new invite?
Thank you and I updated the link. It should work now.
@@theSHELFablesWeird it still doesnt work for me. Whats the server name? Maybe im already in it and just dont remember lol.
@@nehemiahbishop1019 it's just Blazblue Central Fiction. There's also a link on the sidebar of the reddit as well iirc
@@theSHELFablesah ok thanks i found it and joined lol. Hope to maybe see you in a match sometime :)
I just think Kokonoe is neat.
This should be solved by now)
The other tragedy?
The discord link doesn’t work, is there a new one?

Is this game a discord fighter? (Aka is ranked dead?)
Sadly it is
Anybody know any active discords for console players?
im broke so i can't 😭😭
so it's a discord fighter? as a casual that's not really good(mostly on mid ladder on most fighting game) i dont really like to play an fg populated with mostly good player
i dont like discord fighter cuz i have to ask if ppl want to play with me and if there's someone on my level(or close) or not.
There is a channel dedicated to beginners tho and you can prolly learn more if you fight with better opponents since you can learn alot from them because of how they move and play the game. I'd say just play it in your own phase, you won't get good in a day and don't be afraid to lose.
And no its not discord fighter, lobby is full at night time in my Timezone (9:00 HK)
I already played Type Lumina and Uni 2--they suck too, they're discord fighters lol
make a video for bbtag
Wish i could afford it.. Sigh
naah i've tried -- i'm not joining a discord server full of sweats just to get bodied and called trash. that is not fun and neither is CF lol
