I am a woman, I'm 24 years old today. Ive been convinced that I can sing higher than a B5 but I've never been able to. Today as I do this expansion technique I somehow, MIRACULOUSLY, have hit a G5, nearly an A5! I am speachless!!! I cannot believe I am hitting these notes like this.
Wtf i didnt expect that i am kinda tone deaf but i only managed to start singing properly 2 weeka ago or so and its been really great now i want to be like you an amazing opera singer one day
It's never too late to pursue your passion for singing. Keep working on your vocal skills, practice regularly, and stay dedicated. With time and effort, you can achieve your dream of becoming an opera singer. Believe in yourself and keep going forward! 🎶💪
I have some question. What are the benefits of exercises like coughing in the early part of the video? How does our body change when we do this exercise?"
Certainly! it's important to clarify that this is a not a coughing vocal exercise, but open throat exhalation without glottis closure. Such exercises can help relax and open up the throat, preparing it for more controlled vocalizations. It promote a sensation of space in the larynx, aiding in resonance and tone quality. When you perform this exercise, your body encourages a relaxed and open vocal tract, which can be beneficial for singing and vocal control. It's crucial to incorporate a variety of warm-up techniques to prepare your voice for optimal performance. 👍🏻
@@giancarlomonsalve Oh, I see. Thank you. Well.. I have another question. In another video, you mentioned that the tongue should move forward and touch the lower teeth. However, during the pronunciation of 'E(æ)'my tongue naturally rises and retracts backward. In this case, should I force my tongue to exert pressure to make contact with the lower teeth, or should I let it stay relaxed naturally?
I have always wondered how is it like for men who are required to dress up in formal attire for a choral performance; with the collar and a tie grasping around that neck area, I doubt its anything but comfortable to control breathing and vocal, while having head motions...
Hi! Thanks for your comment. In the video, I explained that the pharyngeal expansion exercise involves starting with an inhalation, holding the air, and then exhaling while maintaining the expanded pharyngeal space. It's important to avoid any tension or strain in the neck and throat area. Instead, focus on allowing the expansion to occur naturally as you exhale. It may take some practice, but with time and patience, you should be able to feel the expansion in the pharynx. For any other question. I offer online lessons from anywhere in the world, with me or my Old School of Singing team of vocal coaches, so you can take lessons with me from the comfort of your own home. Hi, I am a counter terror, I sing Mezzo soprano dramatic repertoire. My bridge extends from mi to sol approximately. Any ideas how to sustain notes in that area? Or even higher?
Hi! To sustain notes in that area or even higher, you need to focus on maintaining the right balance between breath support and larynx position. Keeping the larynx lower with an open throat (Gola Aperta) is key for resonance and freedom in the higher register, especially as you move through your passaggio (bridge). Strengthening your breath support by engaging the diaphragm and keeping the ribs expanded will help you control the airflow and prevent the tension that often comes with high notes. Additionally, make sure you’re not pushing or forcing the sound, let the air naturally flow through with proper coordination, and this should allow you to sustain those notes with more ease. Keep exploring the method and remain persistent. It’s not just about the muscle, but the coordination! GM.
Great question! What you’re seeing is not a cough but a strong exhalation exercise that helps open the throat. There’s no glottal closure during this, so it shouldn’t be confused with singing. It’s purely a way to work on throat expansion and freedom. The neck muscles engage as a result of the pressure, but the exercise itself is all about releasing and opening the throat, not about producing sound. And don’t mix it up with actual singing, but see it as training and preparation to apply an open throat while singing, using the minimum effort and quantity of airflow during sound emission. GM
Full resonance connection, it is what we use in Opera to be able to fill effectively and effortlessly a complete Opera House 2.000 to 6.000 sits or an Open air Arena as Verona 30.000 sits. We are loud….
Thank you for your comment! It's important to understand that proper breathing technique is essential for singing, and it can take time to master.
