In this episode we have invited Agostina Laurenzano, applied biomaterial designer and researcher.
Agostina Laurenzano, born in 1989, in Buenos Aires, with Argentine nationality, has moved to Catalonia in August 2017. She is a graduate with a university degree in Clothing and Textile Design, at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. She has then carried out other studies at the Escola Massana, with a postgraduate degree in Applied Arts. It was in this institution that she found the appropriate environment to expose and establish her project on biomaterials. Her knowledge in the world of biochemistry is acquired thanks to her personality, so curious, committed and self-taught. After her research in the world of vegetation, she discovers the enormous range of possibilities available in nature to manufacture bioplastics capable of replacing plastics of fossil origin. Its production complies with the logic of the circular economy. She uses 0km inputs, completely biobased, biodegradable and 100% vegetable.
In 2019 she was a finalist in the Catalunya Ecodisseny Prize by the Catalan Waste Agency, and she joined the Fem La Volta artistic residency, where her entrepreneurship gained strength. She currently resides and works from there. Since then, her constant restlessness has led her to knock on other doors. This has allowed her to consolidate her new profession by teaching workshops, being interviewed and invited to give talks at sustainability conferences, winning a scholarship and an award.
