I had the same feel in early days of duke 125 bs6. after 500km and some top-end pushing. engine became powerful like previous versions(bs4) and accelerate pretty quick for a 125cc. I like your point about sitting far back. yes you're absolutly correct. when you ride rc you need to sit back as much as you can. its more relaxing, more than that you can confidently take any corners, do zigzags on city's.

A Big No for KTM, if you want pillion comfort. And also big No for Duke/RC125. In KTM, only Duke390 is worth buying. Yamaha is the best option for 1.5L range (R15 V3, Fz25 etc) as per your need. And if you could add some more bucks then you can blindly go for Honda CBR250R - awesome machine and great comfortable seat for pillion
I think u should consider gixxer sf 150, u can get all thing like amazing and good looks, enough perfomance for city riding, good comfortable seats,good fairing looks, good mileage, overall it should fulfils your requirements.
