To prevent this from happening AT ALL, have no bots in your server at all. As he explained in the video, the exploit were Streamcord's fault for not validating the users ownership of the specific channel id in the request. It is not possible for a normal user with no permissions to add their own bot and do stuff without a staff member who has permissions to temporarily give them permissions etc. One of your staff members could have potentially had their discord token stolen, meaning a bad actor could have logged in to his account.

Did they add the StreamCord bot? If they didn't add the StreamCord bot and instead some other bot, I wouldn't know. Most likely your server had a bot with one of these exploits.
Another thing is that there is a Server setting that Discord themselves added that allowed users to use their own "text bots" or something of the sorts. NTTS covered it, so my assumption is that's what happened in your case, and I would disable that setting now.
