In this video, I'm rebuilding a camping light that belonged to my parents. The light no longer works and used a lead-acid battery that is probably gone by now.
The lantern has a built-in radio, a spotlight as well as an ambient light, a warning light, an alarm, and a clock built in so it is really a helpful accessory to have while camping.
The lights are incandescent, with the ambient light being CFL so they must be inefficient.
To make it modern, I'll replace all of the lights with LEDs and I'll replace the lead-acid battery with a Li-ion battery pack so it lasts longer.
Since the original antenna for the radio is broken off, I'll be replacing it as well with a new one.
I naively thought that this would be an easy project, but it proved challenging as I had to figure out how to rewire the lantern so it worked on higher voltage.
