I think ball joints in the wrists are the way forward. just so much better than being stuck with a hinge in 1 way only, tho They do give more for blaster holding up and down.
I always thought the original Maul held up pretty well compared to the newer figures and didn't really need a redo. Just from this, I was so wrong! This looks great, but it's a little sad having to slowly retire the originals that introduced me and many others into the line! Still buying this though!
Very excited for this one. I have the sdcc, but that soft goods skirt is awful. I tried wetting it down so it'd lay better but that didn't work very well.
I went for the Sith Speeder version because of nostalgia for having the actual OG toy back in the day. (Sith Speeder with Darth Maul) The posing is certainly better than what I was expecting but it is indeed a figure that I’ll keep cloaked and his saber blades on the hilt because wow… Yeah, the tunic is a mess but the robe kinda hides it. The saber being a little too bendy and the pegs being horrendous for the blades are why I’m kinda mixed on the potential of it. The one criticism I have for all Sith Apprentice Maul figures from this point forward is the lower mouth portion being inaccurate to the Zabrak makeup in the film where the lower lip should have the black “tribal” makeup. So the head is a mix with Clone Wars and the film version. An adequate figure for sure.
1:49 The chin tattoo on the new Maul head is too low. It's like they just used the same print application of the previous heads without repositioning the chin tattoo. Sith Apprentice version has a slightly higher chin tattoo for more screen accuracy. They also made the red at the cheeks too rounded. To me, this makes him look less menacing. 2:40 SHF head on the new Maul would look great.
The battlefront 2 maul pretty much is old man maul. I doubt they’ll release another rebels version of him. I’m disappointed they never released the Solo version of Maul, that fit goes so hard.
@beardedvisions7252 the Solo version of Maul is kinda just his Clone Wars look- And I think that for an old man maul, it would definitely work for them to give him some kinda cloak... Hood thing like he has in Rebels. And if they're gonna do a two-pack, I pray they give us some kind of redo for Old Man Kenobi.
Your videos are single handedly keeping my interest in this toyline alive hasbro ought to be sending you these figures although the comments would cry SHILL SHILL so maybe the current arrangement is best

Idk why but to me hasbro is horrible at matching Ray Park’s likeness for every single Maul figure they’ve ever released. It really just doesn’t really look like him to me
I wonder how Darth Nihilus would fare on the new Maul body, and if thats even possible? He was 99% re-use from the old horrid Maul body. I'm wondering if I should pickup an extra maul to try and improve my old Nihilus.
Knee swivels are horrible. Swivel your knee. Go on, try it. KNEES DON’T SWIVEL. It’s a poor substitute for double joints. Single jointed figures, especially at this scale and this price, are unacceptable.
SHF still blows this out of the water. Low shoulders, High neck and still only one set of hands. Even the older SHF Maul still kicks BS booty this round.

The shf maul has a way better head sculpt in my opinion but that black series body looks pretty good
…the shf maul also has better articulation. No need to blow the money imo.

Honestly... Now we need an Old Man maul with the cane lightsaber, as well as a new Obi-Wan and Qui-gin jinn.

This new maul was everything I can ask for in a maul figure one of my favorite black series figures

I think the stoic face from the original 2013 Maul that was glued to the cloak looked a lot like him.
They do the same with Luke. Terrible faces. Maul looks too cartoonish.

Hasbro’s still better at realistic likenesses than Bandai is with sh figuarts. Life like characters from Bandai never look like the actors.
