    We stayed 3 Nights in Skykomish in a cabin and I will never forget that silence outside at nighttime, just interrupted by the horns of these massive stunning freight monsters getting closer and closer ! I could listen to that all night long ! 😍

    Just perfect. The coloring of the scenery behind goes so well with those executive macs, its almost a shame that BNSF sd70ace being in the mix, could've been all MACs! Really cool shot

    I saw the lead engine in this video (9687), in pusher service today 1/13/17, at the end of a mixed freight. Mostly box cars, headed south through Savanna, IL. I took a pic of it. Paint still looks good on it for an exec. Nice video!

      Thanks for the comment. I always wonder if I should do that but I figure people can fast forward through it if they don't want to see all of it.

      yeah these videos are truely important. A youtube channel that I follow is BArailsytem and he did a railfan video where he cataloged the paint schemes of every car in a CP unit grain train. Then he showed the statistics and percentages of each paint scheme in the train so while the real train had 110 cars if your model had say 35 cars you could stile have a realistic percentage of each paint scheme. I really like your videos because I model the midwest (indiana rr) and the northwest (BNSF) I lived in Georgia for the past 5 years and now I'm stationed in Korea. I can watch your videos and see in an all BNSF train how many ribbed hoppers, how many circle cross logo, swoosh and flat panel BN hopper are in each train. Yes I watch your videos over and over and count all the cars.
      Thanks again,
      Joel

      That's very nice to hear. I will continue to post the entire train. I assume that if you're stationed in Korea you are in the military. Thank you for your service!

    It’s nice to see all EMD up front and a GE tacked on the rear lol it’s usually other way around. IMHO the sd70mac is the best looking freight engine ever made. And it’s EMD’s last engine produced with GM still involved I believe ...correct me if I’m wrong?

    • @YardLimit
      @YardLimit  5 лет назад

      I agree with you about the SD70MAC. I don't know if it was EMD's last engine with GM but perhaps someone else does.

    • @400exNick
      @400exNick 5 лет назад +1

      Yard Limit I just did a little research on the subject... so gm sold EMD in 2005 and it became “Electromotive diesel” so it still had the same famous initials but now under different ownership. So GM had to be involved in the design of the Sd70ace because i saw 2003 as the year they started making them. I know CSX received their 20 units in 2005 but those were ex demonstrators I believe so they had been around awhile. Anyone correct me if I’m wrong.

    Wow thanks for the detailed information! Answers everything! Excellent video!
    Great to have a scenic clip at the 4th minute, and then the whistle breaking the silence just after-so atmospheric!
    And in the first clip I could hear that back DP unit ES44 clearly in dynamic brake.
    Keep up the great creative videos. Maybe you can add safety information so other Railfans can know what they can and can't do?
    I'm probably preaching to the converted but here goes:
    SAFETY
    Union Pacific Railroad and Operation Lifesaver Urge Professional Photographers to Stay Safe, Stay Away From Train Tracks
    OMAHA, NEB., APRIL 16, 2013
    As warmer weather arrives, Union Pacific Railroad and Operation Lifesaver, the rail safety education nonprofit organization, are urging professional photographers to refrain from taking photos of high school seniors, wedding parties, and other subjects on train tracks or trestles.
    Last year, more than 800 people were injured or killed while trespassing on railroad property in the U.S., according to preliminary Federal Railroad Administration statistics.
    "As part of our UP CARES initiative, we want to remind photographers that walking on or near railroad tracks is extremely dangerous because you never know when a train will come along," said Dale Bray, Union Pacific director - public safety. "We urge professional and amateur photographers alike to set the right example for others by adhering to the safety guidelines."
    A teacher that taught art, along with photography, was struck and killed by a train while taking photos on the tracks late in 2012. In response to tragic and preventable incidents like this, Operation Lifesaver (www.oli.org) has worked with Professional Photographers of America on rail safety education outreach to the professional photographer community.
    "Trackside settings have become popular for senior, wedding, and family portraits. But photographers need to know the laws and the safety ramifications of staging a photo shoot near train tracks," said David Trust, chief executive officer of Professional Photographers of America (PPA). "PPA applauds Operation Lifesaver programs that educate photographers about the danger to themselves and their clients of working near tracks."
    Union Pacific is committed to public safety through various outreach channels such as community events, media outreach, law enforcement partnerships, employee resource groups and Operation Lifesaver. The UP CARES (Union Pacific Crossing Accident Reduction Education and Safety) public safety initiative brings together communities in a collaborative and caring effort to promote railroad grade crossing and pedestrian safety.
    UP CARES activities include:
    Grade crossing enforcement with local, county and state law enforcement agencies;
    Safety trains that provide local officials a firsthand look at what locomotive engineers see daily while they operate trains through a community and
    Communication blitzes that educate the community at events or media outreach.
    Operation Lifesaver has six "must-know" tips for professional photographers considering a photo shoot near the tracks:
    1. Trains can't stop quickly to avoid people or vehicles on the tracks.
    2. An optical illusion makes it hard to determine a train's distance from you - and its speed.
    3. The average train overhangs the track by at least three feet.
    4. Railroad tracks, trestles, yards and rights-of-way are private property.
    5. No tracks should be assumed to be abandoned or inactive.
    6. People in your community mimic your behavior.
    About Operation Lifesaver
    Operation Lifesaver's mission is to end collisions, deaths and injuries at highway-rail grade crossings and along railroad rights of way. A national network of trained volunteers provides free presentations on rail safety. I did this to another video where the 'film maker' had violated the Railroad tracks and had filmed ON the tracks IN FRONT of a locomotive. Please put safety first and I hope you can insert this kind of information in your videos. Railroad employees do not like fatalities.

      Thanks for the info. Literally all of the people that I know who are serious rail photographers know the laws about trespassing. I do have plans to make a video about..., how to make a railroad video, and I will include some commentary in there about safety.
      Thanks for watching and thanks for the great comments.

      Keep up these great videos. The creativity is great! Maybe include some people? I know you have to get permission from people to film. But if you have the chance...... If you ever get a chance to officially video on board a locomotive would be interesting to edit that with one or several of your videos. You have a talent for producing videos and you could even get into the film industry if you're a film lover like me. I'm also a train lover but don't tell anyone! Hahaha just joking....you can tell Steven Spielberg I bet his next movie will be about trains.

      Thanks! Generally if people are outside doing their thing and they aren't the central part of the action, you don't need a model release. There's an excursion train in southern Colorado that let's people ride in the cab so that's on the agenda at some point. Thanks again!
