I love how in this scene Alicent is still wearing the colors of the Targaryen's black and red, signifying exactly where her loyalties still lie as of this moment. She truly is Rhaenyra's friend at this point in time
I like the chnage they made to having Allicient and Rheanyra actually grow up together and have a friendship. It makes the inevitable war all the more tragic when in reality it started of as Two friends.
Still in awe of how similar actresses they found for the young and old versions. Especially for Alicent. Even when I look back at these old clips I can barely tell the difference.

Even if I’ve become wary of/opposed to about 80-90% of changes made to the ASOIAF lore since partway through GoT, changing the nature of Rhaenyra’s and Alicent’s relationship to “childhood friends turned bitter rivals/enemies” is a change I do support and think is an improvement. It adds another level of tragedy to the Dance of the Dragons
I seriously wish that we'd gotten a full season of younger Alicent and Rhaenyra. I get that there's not that much "action" at that time, but there could've been such interesting political and emotional arcs. To satisfy people who want fight scenes, make more than two scenes of Daemon's war. If you're going to fundamentally change the dynamic between Rhaenyra and Alicent, then take the time to show that changing!
Same or even with their kids. I liked the young aegon actor a lot. Season 1 felt so rushed into a slow season 2. I don’t like that season 3 will only be 8 episodes
Totally shipping them, they are so cute together, and would’ve loved to see them have a secret romantic relationship. Also just wish more young girls in general would get together, cause girls mature faster than boys, and it’s a great way to get some experience, with someone you already trust and who you’re very close with anyway, as many girls are.
My dream for the two girls: Alicent finding the courage to take up on Rhaenyra's offer to ride Syrax with her where they'd fly to the Free Cities and enjoy themselves...and only eat the most delicious of cakes daily. LOL
The men in their lives completely ruined their relationship. Otto , Viserys, etc., if they just had each other none of this would've happened. I am glad the tide is turning and people are more nuance about this. Both of them are women, and can only have so little control of their lives.

Sure, Rhaenyra cared about Alicent and yes, she's resentful that Alicent married her father, but with the marriage, it put Alicent in Rhaenyra's opposition (which came true: The Greens) so Rhaenyra does not trust Alicent's being open minded about her 'adventure.' Plus Alicent...seems to be the more 'proper' individual out of the two, and somewhat rigid/righteous, so Rhaenyra couldn't trust her with that secret.

Why was her mother so abusive that she thought only thing a mother had to do was squeeze out heirs ? Or did she torture her mother so much that the image of a castle where she spends time with her loved ones and children frighten her so ?

Aemma Arryn had to endure so many stillbirths and miscarriages just because Viserys wanted a son. He cut her open for the little possibility that their child is a son.
Worst Rhaenerya did was not tell Alicent that she was making out with Daemon and this comment who she clearly didn’t thought much about,on the other hand Alicent seduced her father all behind her back and made her son usurp her throne,it’s clear who is the bad one

They actually did bond together during early life in the book, but alicent was already a grown up and rhaenyra a kid.
