Terry Silvester as much as people in 20 years will look back and say that Michael Bay's Trasformers were as good as 2001: A space odyssey. Yeah, that's not gonna happen.
I found 2001: A Space Odyssey an incredibly boring film but that's just how I found it not that the film was intrinsically bad. In the same way, you obviously did not like Prometheus whereas I loved it. Different people find different things in a film and surely that is what is amazing about the cinema experience - there is something for everyone. If nothing else Prometheus should be appreciated for the visuals if nothing else (oh, and Fassbender as David of course).
It could have been so much more. Ive seen enough Alien films, more Aliens isnt necessary. There was a great story there involving Weyland and David and you only ever get a small taste of it which is frustrating.
people who hated that movie will always be locked in their boxed square opinion and phantasy of the movie of the comic books.....its the best depiction in big screen boys if u can make ur own fanboy film about the franchise and fail miserably on it ;)
The movie had its faults and holes, but overall it was truly a great movie with splendid cinematography and acting. I saw it in theaters and had no regrets, and I look forward to seeing the sequel in theaters as well.
Weather or not someone enjoyed or didn't, Prometheus was a work of art. Ridley Scott deserves "Sir" in front of his name. For that alone, most directors success' would not amount to what Ridley had Failed. It's so entertaining to listen to some of Hollywood's greatest Actors be so humbled by being a part of his overall vision.
Shawn in the dialogue between the Engineer and Weyland, is representative of the struggle that good guys face in this franchise, held between the sword of the greed and power lust of their own species, and the hard place of their creators who are tired of trying to make a distinction and giving second chances.
Mark Jon Davies I agree strongly with both of you but the original aliens were more horror/shoot em ups. So alot of people who loved the originals might not find the prequels appealing as they are more deep and ask philosophical questions about creation. I personally enjoy the prequels more for this reason but different audiences will be attracted to different film genres. Aliens 1989 and Prometheus for example ate very different. The former deals with survival against attacking monsters while the former deals with who and why created mankind.
thats why i respect Ridley Scott 7:50 thats some craftmanship right there folks ;) real thing edited > cgi greenscreen and boy actors love the real thing,it zones them in 8:42
I like how the big blue alien dude rips David’s head off… …right after admiring/envying his hair, which he dyed because he liked a film, and because he was expressing himself. No man IS nothing, and in a meaningless barren land: IS EVERYTHING. Paradise needs nothing, especially in a desert.
My favourite Alien movie was always the original with Ripley, followed by Aliens with Michael biehn . Alien 3vboring and resurrection a bit naff . But I got Prometheus and covenant for my ten year old monster mad son. With no interest in them myself . watched them on my own late at night to do a gore/fright-safe check fon fast forward. Ended up having to watch them back from the beginning after getting drawn in thinking wow, this is awesome. Prometheus is brilliant but covenant is now my favourite Alien movie by a long way . Brilliant movie Covenant and now a massive Fassbender fan. He is now my favourite actor Thanks to my son. I would never have bothered with what I thought was going to be utter rubbish. But they were amazing. Especially the ending to covenant. Was left on the sofa with my mouth open thinking wow
My only gripe with Prometheus was they added too many dimensions to the black goo,for me they should have turned it strictly into a weapon, no matter how it got into the body a face hugger should have emerged leading to the eventual xenomorph.
I enjoyed Prometheus& Covenant but it's hard to believe that Ridley Scott directed the excellent sci-fi movies Blade Runner & The Martian then would allow the characters in his Alien series to be so unscientific, illogical & stupid. Granted the Whalen Corp hired the crews, but any amateur scientist would hv followed more logical scientific methods than then these so-called pros in these last 2 alien movies.
This film was great and then a huge let down in some ways. It is like when you make a great roast, and then add a really crappy seasoning to it. Like the scenes where Charlize Theron is a bitchy calculating person, and then does not think to run sideways? Or any of the backstory into David just randomly poisoning that guy, or also how much better the final scene with the engineer could have been handled. Sigh.
Jesse Sulam Holloway was a fuckin prick the fact he constantly insulted David made me delight in his destruction and added a facet of malevolence to David, whether genuinely pissed or mimicking what an actual person would do.
I think Prometheus is a brilliant sci fi film. In twenty years time people will look back on it as they do with Alien and Blade Runner.

@@andreasiligardi4603 Don't be stvpid and ignorant. You need to educate yourself. Prometheus is great.
LOL, NO !
I don't care what people say, I really enjoyed this movie
***** This movie was great and I can't wait for Prometheus 2. People dig way beyond the movie! just enjoy the movie you know.
It was terrible.

Best f-in movie ever
@22grena what was terrible about it?
The movie had its faults and holes, but overall it was truly a great movie with splendid cinematography and acting. I saw it in theaters and had no regrets, and I look forward to seeing the sequel in theaters as well.
I feel the exact same way. I saw this in theaters, and I bought the DVD. I intend to watch the Ridley Scott helmed sequels in theaters.

People can say whatever they want but this movie was fantastic. One of the best alien movies.
this film is a gem.
Noomi was so amazing in this film.....it was incredible. Almost as good as Sigourney and better in body acting. And shes cute

The story of one AI's descent into madness.
Perfect job of director
A lot of the people who didn't like this film don't understand it.
same with covenant ;-) intelligence is a tricky thing

Beautiful movie.
Ridley Scott should make more sci-fi dark tone movies
Absolutely agree. I loved Prometheus. Seen it day 1 in theaters back in 2012. Best cinema experience ever.

Best Movie ever made
Glad to know get into actors personal lives… no distractions and/or humanist!

Noomi was great! Im sad that they killed him, a person's continuum would have improved a new bad movie.
