Saw Steve for the first time back in April and what an experience it is. Such a profound, joyous energy he brings on stage at 70+. Can’t wait until he comes back around.
I couldn't agree with you more. Keeping that incredible music alive. I will continue buying every new release and going to every show of his that I possibly can.
@@rmk22sr.2 I'm sure the next night was amazing as well. He's such an incredible musician, with such a fantastic band, that they're consistently outstanding!
@@jonfadem I saw Steve and the band again, October 19, 2023 very addicting can’t wait for him to come back again to the Scottish Rite awesome venue to see a concert
I've seen the band 4, 5.... possibly 6 times over the last 7 years and I've liked Nad Silver as the vocalist every time. Expressive, comedic at times, and I find his voice quite similar to Peter Gabriel's. Glad he's still with the band.
Saw this a few years ago in Cambridge. Must admit I'm not a huge fan of the vocalist, but he's ok. When I was a kid I hardly listened to the very end of Supper's Ready, but these days I think the last few minutes, with the guitar work, is amongst my favourite section of the whole piece. Spine tingling.
I was at this show and it was my first time seeing Steve Hackett and his band and I can say I'm looking forward to the next time he tours because it was a fantastic show. Great footage, Jon - thanks for sharing!
Saw Steve with Genesis seems like yesterday. But we know it wasn't. = ( This is my all time favorite "clip" from the Genesis time spend. Watching this the first time where the laser cone aimed down from above I will never forget.
He just released additional shows. Going to see him in Oakville Ontario Canada on Dec 2 for the third show. I missed out getting tickets when the tour dates were released. This has always been my favourite Genesis album. I first saw them for the Trick of the Tail tour at Maple Gardens Concert Bowl Mar 31 1976 13th row dead centre just in front of the sound board.
I like Nad, he’s OK. But, can somebody explain why Francis Dunnery has never been asked to fill the vocals role? He would be the perfect voice for this stuff.
I'd agree that Dunnery would be a good fit vocally, but he's also an accomplished guitarist with plenty of his own material - I doubt he'd want to be involved in touring with a band that has Steve Hackett at its centre. I like Nad's approach - he interprets the material well, captures enough of Gabriel and Collins without just imitating them, puts emotion and humour in where needed, and doesn't steal the limelight!
The only uncommitted line I hear here is "to get back home" It's very difficult to inhabit every line you sing. It's not constructive to talk vaguely of 'real'. I suppose it's Peter you want? Musicians need support to fly. I think Nad gets the emotion just right.
Interesting guitar outro. Not sure it’s needed.Distracts from the classic play.Hackett is great as is this tour de force cut.The vocalist sucks.SH needs to find someone else to do this song justice.

I absolutely agree with you! I already have my ticket for his show in PA in December!
Awesome, I’ll never forget this show, we can’t thank Steve enough for what he’s done for the music all these years.

Still wringing out those riffs.. fifty years on. Unsurpassed for decades.
Damn does that final solo put chills down my spine. They don't make them anymore like Hackett. Such talent.
Absolutely! I couldn't agree more!
Saw this in Cincinnati...absolutely brilliant show. Thanks for putting this up.
I say this show twice last week

If there ever was a rationale for further extending a 23-minute song, this is it. Thanks, Steve H. It was a pleasure!
@@seenoevo3497 yeah I'm not a big fan of the vocalist either. Believe he is swedish but sounds irish to me
What made you skip it?
Nad Sylvan is outstanding

So phantastic. I am still flashed by the concert in Berlin 4 weeks ago. This is so awesome.

Same here with genesis and many times after great show great player and band and still turning out great albums keep it up steve 👍
My word. Saw this show in Cambridge last year. Fabulous guitar work
Damn, he’s twice my age plus some but he’s got the energy that I should have.
Love these guys
Still got it, Steve…

Such an amazing performance, such a beautiful and timeless piece of music.
Thank you so much, Steve, for keeping it alive!

the greatest prog song of all time
I totally agree, though, for me, Yes' "The Gates of Delirium" is pretty close.
Its good music!!!
I love when he cuts loose…. Damn
Me too! I felt like he was really getting into it during this solo. By the way, I just checked out your channel -- outstanding playing, man!
@@jonfadem Oh wow, thanks much! I will check out your channel as well.
Nad is awsome!
Awesome
Molto molto bravi
Love Nad's presence and performance.....too bad they don't feature him up front more as a real visual aspect.

Steve is very well aware that Nad spent his whole life being a Genesis fan and is a great singer.

@@jimhardiman3836 you must mot think of Steve very highly because he has the most talented people playing with him and that includes Nad.
Those hammer-ons and pull-offs pre-date Van Halen....just sayin.'

They have a real singer. His name is Nad Sylvan.
Steve needs another vocalist p!!!!!!!!
I think Nad did a fantastic job
Nad Sylvan does an outstanding job. I actually prefer him to Gabriel. Heresy. I will probably be burnt at the stake.
I don't think Anthony philps could be this good Steve replaced him
