Man I am a light junkie. I think my favorite in the AA line are the coast and I have an Olight one that has turned out to be great it’s rode the washer and dryer at least 5 times so far
@@MedicUp2024 haha this is pure greatness. I’ve come to learn that there are a lot of light junkies out there. I had no idea it was a thing until my brother told me about his collection 😵💫
@ I carry a different light almost every day. Mostly I have been carrying a trust fire minix3 lately but still carry the Olight some
@ that’s next level right there man 😂 I love it ✊🏽
Our Olights have the same hang out spot! Hands down the AA Olight has to be one of my favorites out there, I just wish they would improve the clip on them. I’ve never had a light fail but have gone through 3 clips
@@PrepWithPOP wow that is interesting I haven’t been through one yet. I love mine to I even switched my battery to a rechargeable as and just throw in in my charger about every two weeks
I carry the Coast PX22 daily. I love the fact that it has 2 modes, a useful fixed beam, runs on a common AAA battery, and has taken all I've thrown at it on the job and elsewhere. For under $9 it's a no-brainer. FWIW, the G22 and PX22 are the same internally as verified by Coast.
@@GeekMachinist thank you for that! I actually had that very question when looking it up. And yes sir @ $9 it’s a great deal
I have 3 of the Coast AAs I keep around at work, had a Lumintop AA that I gave away and still have a Microstream that's several years old that is my go to.
@@geraldroberts4721 it’s good to know that the life of these products will last us a good time. I am curious on the longevity of the lumintop. The majority of the instructions were in a different language. 😵💫
Triple a is easy to carry with a practical amount of output but stepping up to 14500 really makes sense with the marginal increase in size and much increased capability. I just picked up the manker eos 2 countycomm exclusive .. forward click metal tailswitch, deep carry clip, wide hotspot, l-m-h-s, dual fuel also takes alkaline and NiMH. With a 14500 stock models max output is 1000lms. This exclusive takes it up to a reported 1300lms, on sale for $25.
@@christophwilhelm6431 sounds like an amazing deal if you ask me. That also sounds like a better do it all flashlight for the EDC tasks I have I can get away with the smaller lumen outputs but what you’re describing definitely sounds more capable. I’ll be looking into that one.
@@NotYourGrandpasEDC Also, the way the button is recessed there's minimal chance of accidental activation & it tailstands like a champ. Agreed, it's a lot of light for $25. Their retail is like 35 bucks so grab it while it's on sale. I had it in the cart and when I came back it was full price, like it's on a timer... I refreshed and it went back to sale price. Sneaky sneaky.
I really appreciate you making a video over AAA lights, it’s a line up I’ve wanted to get into for some time due to its size and weight but the lower lumen out put was my biggest deterrent.
I love my ace beam pokelit with AA batteries but hate the 14500 cell that it comes with. Don’t get me wrong the lumen out put with the cell is amazing but the when it dies, it dies without warning. It’s my biggest complaint at least with the AA battery the lumens lug down to a lower output. Nonetheless it’s still not as bright as the 14500 cell so if I’m already making the sacrifice on lumens I figure I might as well give a AAA a fair shot.
@@PrepWithPOP I’m sorry to hear about the struggle with the pokelit. Hopefully one of these will serve you well. Aside from the surefire I don’t think you could go wrong with these.
I have one twist cap keychain flash light, Fenix E01. Every once in a while, I have to clean oxidation off the contact point where the battery touches the cap and clean the positive connection point on the battery. It's 10 years old, and once a year, I have to pull the spiring out and stretch it out.
@@williamsisk2897 while it’s impressive that it’s lasted ten years, I must admit that isn’t anything I’ve had to do with the streamlight. I wonder if moisture is seeping in or do you know what’s causing the oxidation? The spring is interesting. I haven’t had one compress on me like that.
@NotYourGrandpasEDC I have no idea what's causing it. There was one day the light was having trouble turning on. That's when I discovered discoloration on the contact point. The Fenix E01 has been discontinued. I really need to retire this light, but I haven't gotten around to dount so.
@ well at least it served its purpose. And good on you for maintaining it for so long and getting all the use you could out of it.
I am a owner of the coast light, overall it a nice budget and even tho there could be better options, it gets the job done, and about the water resistance, it not great, i had problems with that. I like that u can flip the clip and put it on a hat
@@obedjuarez7791 more useful information ✊🏽 thank you. And it’s good to know that it did have some issues with water. Overall not a bad light if the plan is to buy 2-3 and they may just last a lifetime
Dude olight only run 200 on 7 mins and step down 100 for 28 mins. You read wrong. And 5 lm on 21 hrs 😂
@@thurein11 MANNNN good catch. I had to go back and look at the manual to make sure you were right. I really thought that was an H after the seven 🤦🏽♂️😂 at some point I’ll definitely need to make a short on this to correct that. Thank you!
I had actually just bought the coast myself overall I can say I'm happy with it but you and I are very similar in terms of want out of a flashlight. The 2 settings is annoying but it's easy enough to cycle through and works for what I do. My biggest gripe is the rubber button with as popular of a flashlight as it is I would like to find a metal button so I don't have to worry about the stupid rubber. Now in the future I'll probably swap to something better that fits my wants and needs but this little guy isn't going anywhere any time soon.
@@Rezigunn happy to find someone with similar desires in the flashlight realm. I’ll need to look it up, but I had found one with a metal button however it did look like more of a gimmick at the time. I do wonder how well that would keep out debris. 🤔
@@NotYourGrandpasEDC debris isn't too much of an issue for me since repairing electronics is my primary job so if the button fails it's not too bad to take apart and repair in most cases
Dude I love my ThruNite flashlights.
@@chegui2902 I looked into these prior to the video but I couldn’t find any that weren’t rechargeable for a fair comparison. I imagine down the line we’ll do one with all rechargeable. I’ll need to pick one up to start testing it out ✊🏽
@NotYourGrandpasEDC the ThruNite Ti3 runs on an AAA battery. The Saber 659 comes rechargeable, but you can put an AA battery if needed.
@@chegui2902 man that seems like an awesome light but I cant find it in stock anywhere. Not even directly through Thrunite.
