@Doctor Nick - yours is my first oil from a small batch beard company. Only had bulldog and KCG until now. I've used your oil and butter for a couple of days and I think I'm already feeling the difference! 👍👍
Not watched yet but if Honest Amish isn't here Ill be disappointed. Their premium oil is an amazing value if you're not worried about scents. I'll even mix in a couple drops of it when putting scented oils in because it leaves my beard feeling good.
Hey so I'm literally brand new to beard growth only 2 weeks in so take my thoughts with a grain of salt. I'm just discovering products have a beard wash coming in today from beard club but I have both wild willies hemp seed beard oil the dropper bottle one (1st one I bought) and good fellow from target as I love that whole line in general. I think both work very well at mildly soothing the itch and irritation, I don't feel overly greasy with either use 4-5 drops two times a day. The smell doesn't stick around more than 5 minutes and both are really mild which is fine. But that's about it for me. Will definitely be exploring other options not out of dissatisfaction but just to test the waters
Honest Amish is by far the best budget option for a beginner. Was a guy all about the beard a few years back, then shit went downhill. Anyway, back in the game and glad to see a very awesome product still on the market. 💯 best affordable starter available, and will always keep them in my bag.
I bought the Honest Amish and like it ok, except it seems to give off a scent or gas that makes my contacts blurry. True story. I’m very careful to thoroughly wash my hands after using beard oil but it seems like it gives off a gas if you will, that screws up my contact lenses. I’ve never grown a beard before and am about 5 months in. I made the mistake of allowing my wife to trim the sides near the sideburns and it hasn’t looked right since. I’m brushing daily and I guess I need a shampoo and moisturizer because my beard feels dry. Thanks for your videos.
Good to know there are some readily available oils that aren't bad. I have not tried any of these but the licorice scent is actually pretty tempting with Honest Amish!
I pretty much exclusively use honest amish, but have wanted to branch out and try more store brands as im a more “buy it in person”, person. Only other one i have tried was cremo but my beard got dry using it despite their pleasant scent.
I definitely plan on looking at all four of these and picking the one I want to try thank you for your education I do not feel like ordering online right now and I don't know how long I'm going to keep the facial hair but I want to treat it and keep it soft and healthy.
Great video Dan! After watching this I honestly regret not giving honest Amish a try when I was in the beginning stages of my beard journey. As always very informative.
I have a question. You say that the Bulldog beard oil is a solid option, but you don't recommend some other beard products of theirs. I'm looking to switch from King C Gillette, since their beard wash irritates my skin like crazy, causing wounds that would release liquid and creating huge chunks of dandruff or just the wound scab. Would you recommend the Bulldog beard wash? Thank you
@@DanCBearded yeah, sorry. I meant the 2 in 1. I guess I won't buy that one either haha! European supermarkets don't have a wide variety. I guess I'll give Prorasso a try. Or if you know any good European options, I'll give them a try 🙂
Great options, but my favorite budget store brand is Everyman Jack, both oil and balms are solid choices. Stay away from their butter though. Their wash is ok, but a little too stripping for my taste.
I use the Everyman Jack products. Curious about what you don’t like about their butter, not challenging your opinion or anything, it’s just the only butter I’ve tried. So I’m wondering if I’m missing out on better butter option
@@EllisD01 EMJ butter is not a butter. It's water based, more like a lotion, smells like chemicals, and leaves my beard stiff & crunchy. There are so many really good butters out there. Try Texas Beardsman or Furry Hippie Beard Company. They both have incredible butters. I'll likely come out with my own early next year.
Agreed, their butter is one of the absolute worst. And absolutely nothing wrong with the EMJ oil at all. Really solid starter option for in store oils. I didn’t bring them up on this video for two main reasons though: 1) their base price in Walmart is just over $10, which was my guideline (the others are well under $10 an ounce) 2) I wouldn’t recommend it over any of the ones on the list that are less expensive A fair honorable mention though!
@@DanCBearded I would rate them 2nd to Honest Amish, followed by Goodfellas, Bulldog, and Shea Moisture. Although, I think there balm is the best of the group. Your right, they are higher priced than the rest.
glad i read this cause i been considering using EMJ butter but i wasnt sure if i wanted to risk the amount of moneh they cost just for me to not like it. good look.🙏🏾
For whatever reason, I absolutely love these kinds of videos that go over several options of a product type. Even if I don't buy any of these or use them (I do) it's so fun to have options put in front of me.

Bulldog has the best scent, Honest Amish Classic scent has a very strong smell of Anise that is used in Italian cookies and some say smells like black licorice and I don't think a bearded man should smell like cookies in my opinion. Haven't tried the others yet.
Great video Dan!! I started out with Honest Amish and really enjoyed it. It unfortunately made my face itch. I recently switched to Shae Moisture and absolutely love the scent and the way it feels in my medium to long beard. Keep up the good work and stay bearded!!

Great video Dan! Personally I’ve never tried any of those, but I agree by just their ingredients they are great budget starter oils for sure. Store bought oils should have somewhat quality oils in them, not fake chemicals and water and whatnot. Wish all of them did, but I’m glad you have a video like this showing people some quality store bought oils. 👊🤘
Hey Dan I was curious on what your thoughts on Cremo's Palo Santo beard oil is? The Shampoo and Softener look abit chemically (I think, could be wrong) but how about the beard oil itself? Here's the ingredients from their website. Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Kernel Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Fragrance, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Sunflower Seed Oil Glycerides, Tocopherol.
Thank you for the video! I actually have two of these on my shelf right now. Both Honest Amish and Shea Moisture are solid options for any beardsman looking to save some money on products. I cheat a little on the beard butter and use a 4oz tin of the Honest Amish heavy balm with several other scented oils instead of having a match for each scent. These products do well in my beard.
Dan, another great video for those of us starting out. By the way, I am nearly 5 months in to my 're-grow' and thank entirely to you and your channel...It's coming along nicely. I'm rockin' what I got!
or spend $10 for 2 oz ostrich, 1 oz emu, or 1 oz squalane oils. 1st 2 are from the internet. Ulta sells squalane. Nicholas Beard Works and Alley Cat (expensive very highly rated) uses these. Dan C didn't mention Bromley's beard oil. I thought it was lousy.
Hey Dan, what do you think of duke cannon’s best damn beard oil? This is what I’m currently using and I can get it at target. I also use their beard wash. Just wondering if I should try one of these other ones on your list.
Dan this is great. I’ve been wondering about a couple of these. What about Everyman Jack oil? Would you call it a runner up to these or right there? Just curious why it didn’t make the top 5 or was it just too close to call or a particular reason? Thanks Dan!
Yup, nothing wrong with the EMJ oil at all.
@@DanCBearded perfect!! I have some of it and I don’t usually pick over my other great options, but I’ll actually say EMJ is my favorite sandalwood scent (I know it’s not your jam), I just wish I like the feel in beard as much as my better oils or I would use it a lot more
i use EMJ for my beard routine. used to use coconut oil but then statered to use EMJ and honestly havent looked back. smells super great, very masculine secent and gives the results im looking for. i feel like EMJ is SO slept on.
Thanks Dan! This is a great video that is very helpful. I would certainly add Every Man Jack and Brisk to the available in stores list. What would be your top 4 budget beard oil options from Amazon, not including those mentioned in this video (which are four great options)? Many thanks, The Bearded Clergyman
Every man Jack doesn’t fit in the price guidelines of this video, as their base price is not under $10 an ounce. Amazon go to would be grave before shave
i have two items from your list i do have the honset amish beard oil got from location walmart and their balm . i do like this beard oil thought i have other oils still like. the second oil is shea moisture beard conditioning oil side noted they do make a beard balm . one thing about conditioning oil i am little lost on it called conditioning oil would that be same as beard oil or different thanks . where i live at in our town we dont have target but we do have cvs so next time i try the bulldog brand if they have it
I have a sensitive nose so if I get a beard oil that is too potent I like to apply good amount of Honest Amish first and then use just a few drops of the potent oil. Honest Amish classic and premium have a fairly faint smell that will be overpowered by any potent beard oil you apply over it. I do try to match them up though, Honest Amish classic to me smells like Juicy fruit gum so I'll use that with a potent oil that has fruit or food type scents. The Honest Amish premium smells like pencil shavings so I'll use that one with anything that is not food scent related like wood or cologne type scents.
I used scented oils for years. Dropper bottles, shaker bottles, this that & the other thing. Now I'm strictly a Kroger brand organic coconut oil guy. I think the big jar cost me maybe $8. Not knocking anyone's product by any mean, but the Kroger organic was a true game changer for me along with a heated brush. As they say though, your mileage may very!
For sure! Coconut oil is not going to work for most people (high comedogenic rating likely to clog pores) because a blend will work better. However, most people does not mean all people. Finding what works for you is very important
Great video Dan, I only tried the Honest Amish, I will send this video to a friend, he makes good money but he hates spending it on beard products but he always ask if a certain company is okay.

Great information Dan 👍 I had been wondering about the Target Goodfellow beard oil. If I am ever traveling and forget my beard oil I can always stop in a Target and pick up a Goodfellow or Walmart and get an Honest Amish. Definitely good to know information.
I love Honest Amish , I’ve been using it for a few years. I don’t like black licorice either but I don’t mind the smell of this oil. Another plus is the 2oz bottle.
I saw one of your videos and thought I'd try Honest Amish. I couldn't find it at either local Walmart and ended up buying their premium oil from Amazon. It definitely has a better feel to it than what I was using. I have some Detroit Grooming butter coming today.
So I’ve tried “Bulldog” and I still have it. It’s a pretty good beginner oil to use. The scent profile is “pretty basic” but it gets the job done. The scent isn’t too over powering either.
Ya im growing my 1st beard and i bought arlos at tj maxx for 4 dollars lol that was absolute trash so i just bought bulldog the other day and it works miracles compared to arlos lol
Great video Dan. Beardbrand was the first oil I tried and I got it at Target in our area years ago. It was good, but moved on to small batch companies, and actually moved on to making my own off of your diy video. That's a good budget option for those that want to go the amazon route. Take care!
I was expecting Mountanieer brand to. However I agree the Bulldog beard oil Is really a good option. The shampoo Is good to, but the balm Is crap. As Always you're the man Dan C. Greetings from Italy!
Great video Dan. I still use Honest Amish in my rotation at least 1x a month. I used a bottle of Goodfellowes oil. Difficult to find on the shelves in the stores around me. Quality is good with these products for the price point
Great Video. I have tried Honest Amish oil and that’s it. The others I bought from stores I wouldn’t recommend. I would also say keep in mind that these products may or may not be store specific. You stated that, just want to make sure people watching picked up that.

Awesome to hear Kevin!
Dan, another great video for those of us starting out. By the way, I am nearly 5 months in to my 're-grow' and thank entirely to you and your channel...It's coming along nicely. I'm rockin' what I got!
Let’s gooo!!! Keep it growing
or spend $10 for 2 oz ostrich, 1 oz emu, or 1 oz squalane oils. 1st 2 are from the internet. Ulta sells squalane. Nicholas Beard Works and Alley Cat (expensive very highly rated) uses these. Dan C didn't mention Bromley's beard oil. I thought it was lousy.
The premise of this video was buying in store. And I have never heard of Bromley, but sounds like I’m not missing much.
Hey Dan, what do you think of duke cannon’s best damn beard oil? This is what I’m currently using and I can get it at target. I also use their beard wash. Just wondering if I should try one of these other ones on your list.
No good, unfortunately. I am not a fan of the hydrated silica they use. Leaves my beard feeling crunchy
Hey Dan what with the new you tube look? There is no subscribe button and so on.
On mobile, the subscribe option is under the name of the channel which is under the like button when you're in portrait mode. Not sure about desktop
@@dylanbeschoner hmmm, I have never seen that on my mobile before until this morning. Thanks for info
@@davebardsley278 you're welcome. You must have received a surprise update to your user interface
I think RUclips is in the process of some updates and facelifts. I do not know all the details yet though
Thanks Dan, I'm on a fixed income loved the video big help.
You’re welcome!
What do you do for your eyebrows? I notice they are now fuller and darker.
Not much at all, just trim every couple of weeks
Dan this is great. I’ve been wondering about a couple of these. What about Everyman Jack oil? Would you call it a runner up to these or right there? Just curious why it didn’t make the top 5 or was it just too close to call or a particular reason? Thanks Dan!
Yup, nothing wrong with the EMJ oil at all. Really solid starter option for in store oils. I didn’t bring them up on this video for two main reasons though:
1) their base price in Walmart is just over $10, which was my guideline (the others are well under $10 an ounce)
2) I wouldn’t recommend it over any of the ones on the list that are less expensive
A fair honorable mention though!
Amazon go to would be grave before shave
i have two items from your list i do have the honset amish beard oil got from location walmart and their balm . i do like this beard oil thought i have other oils still like. the second oil is shea moisture beard conditioning oil side noted they do make a beard balm . one thing about conditioning oil i am little lost on it called conditioning oil would that be same as beard oil or different thanks . where i live at in our town we dont have target but we do have cvs so next time i try the bulldog brand if they have it
All beard oil is "conditioning" so it is just a marketing term from them
@@DanCBearded thanks learning all time
I have a sensitive nose so if I get a beard oil that is too potent I like to apply good amount of Honest Amish first and then use just a few drops of the potent oil.
I get the pencil shavings too!
Great Info
Thank you!
How about every man Jack beard oil is it a good quality beard oil
It is a decent starter oil, yes
awesome video I have the shea got after your review, like it a lot. i will try the honest
Oh good to hear!
Great video Dan, I only tried the Honest Amish, I will send this video to a friend, he makes good money but he hates spending it on beard products but he always ask if a certain company is okay.
Perfect, thank you Shade!
Have you ever used wìld willies beard oil? If so is it anygood? You can get this at walmart
I have and it’s not good, unfortunately
@DanCBearded thankyou
wish I would of know this knowledge when I started out I was using Beard guyz
Ugh, I hate that many start with them
But as of today U got a long beard its healthy and using great or products today with the kniwkedge I got from the forum and DanC videos.
I have used all of these. Great choices, seriously affordable and won’t damage the beard
Thanks Chris!
You reviewed Every Man Jack sometime ago and you said you did like their beard oil. Their beard butter though was a different story. Great video Dan!
Yup, nothing wrong with the EMJ oil at all. Really solid starter option for in store oils. I didn’t bring them up on this video for two main reasons though:

Great information Dan 👍 I had been wondering about the Target Goodfellow beard oil. If I am ever traveling and forget my beard oil I can always stop in a Target and pick up a Goodfellow or Walmart and get an Honest Amish. Definitely good to know information.
Thanks for watching! And all solid options. Target has a pretty good selection!
I love Honest Amish , I’ve been using it for a few years. I don’t like black licorice either but I don’t mind the smell of this oil. Another plus is the 2oz bottle.
Absolutely Steve!
I saw one of your videos and thought I'd try Honest Amish. I couldn't find it at either local Walmart and ended up buying their premium oil from Amazon. It definitely has a better feel to it than what I was using. I have some Detroit Grooming butter coming today.
Oh awesome!
Hey Dan, what viscosity would you recommend for the Las Vegas climate?
Medium should be perfect!
@@DanCBearded thank you so much. I have so much to learn, new bear grower.
Agreed all around!
Great video Dan. I started with Shea, but I didn't like how it felt in my beard. Honest Amish classic works and feels better.
Awesome to hear! Cannot go wrong with HA
@@DanCBearded I FINALLY discovered what the viscosity of HA:)
Great video Dan. Beardbrand was the first oil I tried and I got it at Target in our area years ago. It was good, but moved on to small batch companies, and actually moved on to making my own off of your diy video. That's a good budget option for those that want to go the amazon route. Take care!
Unfortunately I think the beardbrand white line in target is going away
For some reason target don't sell it no more
@@henryrodena3207 beardbrand just rebranded and changed everything
I was expecting Mountanieer brand to.
However I agree the Bulldog beard oil Is really a good option. The shampoo Is good to, but the balm Is crap.
As Always you're the man Dan C. Greetings from Italy!
I do not think Mountaineer brand is in stores like they used to be. For sure not in walmart anymore and I haven't seen them in any others.
Great video Dan. I still use Honest Amish in my rotation at least 1x a month. I used a bottle of Goodfellowes oil. Difficult to find on the shelves in the stores around me. Quality is good with these products for the price point
Absolutely! I will have to keep an eye out to see how the stock is around us. I don’t really go to stores much these days lol
Have you tried Trader Joe's oils? I have their argan, jojoba, and lemon coconut body oil and I think they are pretty good!
I haven’t yet, but I will add it to my list!
Great Video. I have tried Honest Amish oil and that’s it. The others I bought from stores I wouldn’t recommend. I would also say keep in mind that these products may or may not be store specific. You stated that, just want to make sure people watching picked up that.
Thanks Brian!
Cremo bourbon vanilla
Unfortunately Cremo does not do well for my quality wise, and most people I talk to
@@DanCBearded can you expand further on the quality.. just curious that's all? Thanks great content!
Have you ever heard of Genesee Beard Co?
I have not
Thanks William!
