If you're looking for a FPS western with realistic gimmicks, you should try the elder brother of "CoJ:Gunslinger": and play "Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood". "CoJ:BiB" follows three brothers in search of a treasure, the intrigue of the game is the fact that two of the brothers start becoming enemies and you can control both of them.

For people that have fallen into the Red Dead Redemption 2 black hole in 2024 there is one game you should play that you will adore and is at least somehow like RDR2 in terms of quality and similarity and that is Days Gone. It is literally Red Dead Redemption II but in a modern era with modern tools and weapons, zombies and on bikes instead of horses. The game also focuses A LOT on it's story and it is quite long. I personally have over 150 hours in both (almost 400 in RDR2) and they are my 2 favourite games of all time

Days Gone is great, it has some issues but so does RDR2. Definitely worth checking out as far as open world games though.
