Oh how time flies. I remember when you reviewed the previous generation C400 in blue no less. You’ve grown so much as a reviewer. Well done good Sir. Keep up the good work.
I like it. It’s a pretty car and not trying to do too much design wise like *ahem* BMWs latest designs. Although the 3 series was one of BMWs best recent designs. I’m glad to see the C class finally be updated to be on the same level as the 3 series. Now I’m waiting for the new A4.
You can BMW x3 fully loaded for under that price. I know that it all comes down to buyer preference. You can also get an x1 for around $40k. Mercedes has always been over priced for the badge.
people who look at a Mercedes have money to burn, people who wish they had a Mercedes, will only complain about how expensive it is. yeah but it's a small car, what's your definition of small. the C300 has always been a small compact car, it was that way when they first introduced the C class years ago. but i wouldn't say it's that small these days, however it's worth noting that even their midsize sedan segment can be pretty cramped in the back. that wasn't always the case with the E class, but some people say, Mercedes got too far away from what made them so great in the 90's and early 2000's but that'll happen, when a company tries to be too much like it's competition. those who are old enough, will remember why a Mercedes was a Mercedes, and a BMW was a BMW, same for Audi, Lexus, Acura you name it. but these days it's more about, which badge would rather have. now Mercedes quality is still higher than BMW and Audi, but it's not like it was.
I believe the interior of the car actually has the standard leather and not the nappa upgrade. With the nappa upgrade, there would be smoother leather and diamond quilting patterns on the door panels and seats. Some of the plastic lower parts would become soft touch..
Great point. Most people are just buying the C for the MB badge. It doesn’t bring anything exciting to the table, so you might as well go with a 5 Series being that it has a more prestigious nameplate.
Just got one! I have 0 complaints and it is seriously one of my favorite cars I have ever owned. The value for what you pay is second to none on any other car I’ve owned.
Now that interior is absolutely astonishing. For base engine power, the power is sufficient, especially in c300 guise. Would've liked to see more amenities for the rear seat passengers
@@theniceones1613 I don't really like the interior. The older E and S class was clearly superior...I don't like the ipad dash and weird tesla copy center screen. Seats look cheap too
I think Mercedes does a nice job with the C300 in pairing luxury with some sportiness. BMW and Audi might make sportier compact sedans in the A4 and 3-Series, but Benz is supposed to be more luxury than sport, so I think they’ve nailed it here. But also, $60K for a C300 with options is just too much. I’d go for a 340i with some options before I’d spend that much on a C-Class.
You can option out the C300 pretty much to the top of what a Pinnacle would generally be in terms of what you're looking for in a car with the AMG-Line for 55k. If you deduct the AMG Line then it's still more than capable and coming in at $52k, which I think is reasonable for the class and the options ticked. The new 3 series is nice on the interior, but you're unable to even option out driver assistance technology as they say it's simply unavailable. Otherwise, if they slapped the new 3 series interior into the new 4 series, then that would be a good option.
Big mistake by Mercedes to only offer a 4-cylinder option in this new C-Class. Porsche tried this with the Cayman/Boxster models a few years ago when they discontinued the 6-cylinder option and began offering them only in varying levels of 4-cylinder power. After being much maligned by the auto press and subsequently seeing sales drop big time, they smartly brought back the iconic flat-6 as an option. I think the same thing will eventually happen here. It's one thing to offer the C300 and even the C43 with a 4-cylinder, but how many people out there are going to write a 70k+ check for a Mercedes AMG product without a V8 (or even a V6) under the hood?? Not many, I don't think. It's not a secret that Mercedes is in the early stages of transitioning their model lineup to EV's in the coming years, and I think this is a test run of sorts to gauge their customer base's reaction to them trying to move away from the traditionally loud, big displacement engines (see: V8's) that have always accompanied AMG products. Something tells me they're going to experience the same backlash Porsche did when they tried this.
Won't happen here. The backlash on the 718 models is...well, they're sports cars. The whole reason people buy them is for their driving dynamics, and the powertrain has a lot to do with that excitement. The C-class however has a FAR different mission - it is usually considered the "starter Mercedes" and prioritizes the typical traits of the brand - soft and comfortable luxury. The powertrain emphasis here is far more on refinement and high MPG than just outright power; that's the job of the upcoming C63 AMG (and another can of worms altogether). Anyone shopping for a C300 will be satisfied here - a V6 option while would be missed won't be necessary. That said, I would not rule out a stronger hybrid or PHEV option like a C350e which adds more thrust, but would mostly share the same 2.0T engine but add power from electric motors.

Good to hear that the transmission is good. I drove one of the earlier previous gen ones and was extremely annoyed with the transmission. It would never shift when I wanted it to.
Nice C- class, but $62K!?. A 2022 Audi RS3 with 401HP is a great deal for $60K comparing it to this Mercedes, even though it is a smaller car. I guess, the C 300 buyers desire having the Merc badge more than the performance it delivers.
Those wheels are only $650 upcharge if you add the AMG-Line (which is $3050). I just finished out a couple comparison builds for the C300 (Exclusive and Pinnacle), and I'm not 100% sold on Pinnacle being worth the extra $3.5K once you option out the Exclusive to include the AMG-Line, Driver's Assistance and MB Nav. What I *really like* is that MB has vastly simplified the packaging trims, as well as the options. While it's probably because of the on-going chip shortage, it makes for a very easy and seemingly more price efficient build process. Also, Ventilated seats and Distronic Cruise Control are a stand-alone options for Exclusive and Pinnacle trims! As it comes standard with the basic Blind spot and x-traffic, some people just want the blind spot and Distronic for driver's assistance options and be done with it. I *really wish* they would've had the AMG steering wheel as a stand-alone option, but I think the packaging options available are pretty reasonable and not exorbitantly priced. I think the vehicle is pretty solid and makes for a great smaller mid-sized sedan. Strangely, I still see the A-class on the build site, but it's just tiny, bruh. #APrayerForBMWDrivingProfessionalPackageIn2023
I disagree on the hard touch plastics being expected, neither the 3 Series, A4 or G70 have this much hard plastic! Was disappointed when I test drove one a couple days ago.
Totally agree. I was so disappointed when I test drove one. The previous one had soft touch plastics in the lower half although the previous one had awful build quality with rattles, creaks and some peeling metal trim issues. Mercedes isn't what it used to be. That much hard plastic in a car of this price is unacceptable. Neither BMW or Genesis is doing it. I think Audi have started using hard plastic too though. BMW now overtook Mercedes on interior material and build quality.
Although it isn't really that much better, as I still have found a lot of cheap plastics in both the 3er and G70 however the c-class has a little bit more. But hey, that's to be expected In this lower end of the segment.
Have been considering an E53 simply because of the MH battery for near-instant torque and fantastic gas mileage, but with the C300 I can save a ton of cash and get everything I wanted from the E53!
I definitely would have too. I got my 2022 Cadillac CT5-V for under $53k and the interior isn't quite as fancy but I'll keep the $10k savings and still have way more power.
The IS500 isn’t its competitor. The IS500 is a fossil, but has a fantastic engine and is meant for enthusiasts. This C class is for those that can’t buy an S class or want a smaller Mercedes that isn’t a piece of shit like the CLA.
Didn’t know Mercedes’ slogans was “the best or nothing” per video’s description. Apparently whoever made the older A series in the past didn’t know that either…
I really like the design of this new C-Class and I feel that this interior is much more suited to an entry level Mercedes than the S-Class. While I am not going to deny that the S-Class interior is very nice, I miss all the high-end finishes and switchgear that was present on the previous generation. It was a way for the brand to go that extra step and create a more upscale interior. I think it is a missed opportunity for Mercedes because why would I buy the S-Class when I can get the same interior for like 50k as opposed to $120k.
Same thought i had when i saw the c class interior. I think it works well in the smaller mercedes then a huge s class. Kinda curious to what it will look like in the E class. To be honest, am not a fan of that interior.
Drove one last week, has got to be one of the best looking interiors on the market. The throttle is tuned well and it has more than enough power. However, the materials were cheap and the build quality was not great. The steering was precise but no feedback. The brake was horrible, soft and nonlinear. The 4 cylinder noise was bothersome and the entire vehicle shook in sport plus mode when at a stop. The 48V mild hybrid is mostly used to reduce the turbo lag. Fully optioned, this car comes in at the mid 60k. I would rather get a GV70 3.5T, it rides smoother when in comfort, sportier when in sport plus, much better brake tuning, 6 cylinder engine, higher quality interior. You take the fuel efficiency hit but the GV70 is more fun to drive.
@@porfiriato84 we bought the GV70. I've driven the G70 and it blows the C300 out of the water drive wise. The interior is the only reason why we didn't buy the G70.
@@Benji-pq3fi ohhh well nice man. Im highly considering the 23 G70 as my next car. There's so many great cars out there but I love what the G70 brings to the table.
@@THExKINGxKINGx it depends on what you're looking for. If you're set on the aesthetics of the interior and exterior, you wont find this look replicated elsewhere and may not care about the interior materials or the driving experience as much. However, for me, the driving experience and the interior materials were not acceptable at this price point. I love the driving experience and the exterior looks of the G70 but the interior is not great aesthetically. The 330i is a good choice overall and has a refreshed interior/exterior for the 2023 MY. I haven't driven a 330e but you may qualify for plug in tax credits depending on where you live and your financial situation. The A4 interior is a bit dated and I was not a fan of the exterior design. Hope this helps.
If I'm gonna showboat with a MBZ sedan it's gonna be for the E class, I know it's $11K more for the E450, but you get air suspension, 6 banger & a more spacious cabin & better ride cause it's a larger vehicle.
E450 starts at $15k more which is a lot of money considering the e class isn’t redesigned yet (and the facelift they gave it looks ugly as shit). The w206 c class is better than the current e class and it’s $15k cheaper
IwinULoseBigly! E43’s are a great value in my opinion. Almost the perfect balance between a “fast” sedan and a “luxurious” sedan, and perfect for a daily. I’m just not a beemer guy, I’ve never preferred any 3 series over it’s respective c class competitor
@@seanw4 The 3 series is lightyears better than the C class lol...People don't buy small compact cars for "luxury"...They buy them for sporty and fast and the BMW is superior in both regards. Also, unlike Merc they 3 series is made from just as good materials as the 5 and 7. I like the E and up better from Mercedes tho as far as sedans....
IwinULoseBigly! Well I personally picked the c class over the 3 series because it’s more luxurious. And I know I’m not the only one, also if you don’t care about luxury why do you care about quality materials? Should just be quick and sporty who cares about materials lol
Well, this is going to tank resale values if they keep this 4 cylinder engine malarkey going. Smaller engines, lots of power means more strain on components. And let's face it, Merc doesn't have a great reputation for longevity as it is. Totally agree, those small engines sound horrible. It's just going to tank sales like it did with Porsche's 718 a couple of years back.
they’ve been doing 4 cylinders for decades in the C class lineup, the AMG models on the other hand… I don’t think anyone buying a Mercedes cares too much about resale value, though
Love the way it looks I was iffy about their new design language until I saw the refreshed E63 on the road , looks mean.. I'm glad they didn't do the twin horizontal screens like in some other cars "EV6 cough cough "
Very nice...but I canceled my order because of the chip shortage. Who wants this if you have to delete features from the build list. Looks beautiful though! Maybe next year.

Can skip out on the advanced package you mentioned about to get the rear usb charger. Can use That slot below the rear vent to put the portable battery for charging haha.
Nice car. Too small for me so I'd prefer an E-class and I want 6 cylinders. The premium options, heads-up display, ambient lighting, 19" wheels, lane keep assist, wireless phone charger, heated, ventilated and massaging seats, AWD, remote start in the app but also the key fob; I could go on and on. All came with my Buick Regal GS. Except I have a 310 hp V6, much roomier cabin, and saved over $20k. German badges cost a lot more than they're worth.
Do we know if they are going to bring the PHEV version over to the US? Supposed to get close to 65 miles on a charge, which would greatly reduce the fuel consumption for most commuters.
It’s laughable how many things in this car are ‘optional’ at such a high price tag and trim level, i don’t understand why in the US cars are sold that way. I’m just wondering, how “luxurious” this car would be without all those extras.

Did u ever found out why are they (audi) hiding the exhaust. I literally research and cant find any reason. Why are they putting fake exhaust. Y not jus connect it? Is it regulations?
It’s actually becoming more common because it’s what consumers want. Most consumers want to see clean exhaust pipes, they could care less if they’re real or not. The solution is creating a real looking exhaust pipe that’s fake while having the actual dirty exhaust exit from under the vehicle.

G70 does have it
Agreed, I don’t like the cheap plastic in all Mercedes Benz.
Only buy AMG if you have the budget much better performance and interior luxury
Although it isn't really that much better, as I still have found a lot of cheap plastics in both the 3er and G70 however the c-class has a little bit more. But hey, that's to be expected In this lower end of the segment.
Have been considering an E53 simply because of the MH battery for near-instant torque and fantastic gas mileage, but with the C300 I can save a ton of cash and get everything I wanted from the E53!
62k? Imma take a IS500 with double the cylinders for that money.
Me too!
I definitely would have too. I got my 2022 Cadillac CT5-V for under $53k and the interior isn't quite as fancy but I'll keep the $10k savings and still have way more power.
and reliability
Bro The c class isn’t meant for people like you who care abt that much money being spent anyways 🤣🤣it’s a Benz, only rich ppl gonna buy it
The IS500 isn’t its competitor.
Touch interior plastic then decide whats best, sounds like bag of Doritos
the ppl who made the older c class didnt know that either lol
The A class is part of the "nothing" bit
@@JDMHaze c class was way better than the cla first gen 😂
@@ItsAlive111 lmaooo cla was fwd, lol That's low hanging fruit
This model is sold in Europe with massaging front seats. Apparently, we don't deserve to be treated the same here. 🤔
Don't you mean the G70? GV 70 is the SUV soo that wouldn't be a good comparison.
Interesting… I was set on buying one but definitely not sure anymore.. so nay? Not worth the money better options out there?
Saw one in person the other day. I honestly thought it was an A-class until you see the longer dash-axle space in the side profile.
indeed its a Mercedes "econobox" that is expensive
and the A class is a pretty good looking car, espacially the hatchback
This car has no resemblance with A class. May be you have poor judgement or just exaggerating.
@@patrickamponsah679 Lenscrafters opens at 9
Very impressive! Luxury all the way in both the exterior and interior design.
Hard touch plastic at the bottom of the door is Mercedes cost cutting considering that the last generation C Class had a soft touch door bottom.
Totally agreed. It's unacceptable.
benz and toyotas for life🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
If I'm gonna showboat with a MBZ sedan it's gonna be for the E class, I know it's $11K more for the E450, but you get air suspension, 6 banger & a more spacious cabin & better ride cause it's a larger vehicle.
E450 starts at $15k more which is a lot of money considering the e class isn’t redesigned yet (and the facelift they gave it looks ugly as shit). The w206 c class is better than the current e class and it’s $15k cheaper
@@seanw4 I would get the E43...Or E400 lightly used. I would take the 3 series any day of the week over this C class tho...
How’s the quietness and ride of this compared with the Acura TLX V6 on the freeway? I’m thinking of trading in.
Well, this is going to tank resale values if they keep this 4 cylinder engine malarkey going. Smaller engines, lots of power means more strain on components. And let's face it, Merc doesn't have a great reputation for longevity as it is.
Totally agree, those small engines sound horrible. It's just going to tank sales like it did with Porsche's 718 a couple of years back.
they’ve been doing 4 cylinders for decades in the C class lineup, the AMG models on the other hand…
I don’t think anyone buying a Mercedes cares too much about resale value, though
That's not a solid thunk and you don't expect hard cheap plastics in a car of this price, regardless of where it's priced/placed in the lineup.
Yes, that was really surprising when you're laying down $63k.
It is solid lmao and this is a c300 ofc it will be cheap lmao
@@rks-bh6tb yeah, the c class has always been like this, i don’t know why you expect more from this.
the screens are crazy high quality. very nice
Great call on the painted rotor! Nice review
I love the robot in the backseat at 15:14 !
The interior is gorgeous!
What’s happening to the È-Class? Will Mercedes’ be making the range with the S-Class type improvements?
That's not a weird cell phone storage area in the armrest. It's a pen holder. 🤣
I have a 2021 GLA with the big screen and piano black everywhere. I leave a microfiber towel in the center armrest compartment to wipe everything down because of my OCD!
Why is the top speed only 130mph? In Europe it’s electronically limited to 250km/h (155mph)
Nice review. This is basically the exact car I have on order except mine will be white.
Is there more front headroom in this one in comparison to the previous one?
Great review, I'm waiting to take delivery of my new C300 soon.
I’m ready to upgrade my W204 C300 but damn, no V6 is killing me. Might as well get a GLI if we’re going 4 cylinder.
Hey redline what trim do you have
Do we know if they are going to bring the PHEV version over to the US? Supposed to get close to 65 miles on a charge, which would greatly reduce the fuel consumption for most commuters.
Great review, thank you.
I knew I wasn’t the only one who thought the c300 was a small s550
in europe the base model is the c180 and got manual cloth seats and a small display. But cost the same as the c300 in the us. 🙄
Thought you have awd tester, The staggered wheel set up are normal now on most awd.
Should be mentioned that you can get the sun shade package for extra price, as well as the climate controls for the back seats.
It’s laughable how many things in this car are ‘optional’ at such a high price tag and trim level, i don’t understand why in the US cars are sold that way. I’m just wondering, how “luxurious” this car would be without all those extras.
got this exact car and color, love it.
Hey Sofyan, can we get an equipment breakdown for auto content creators?
A 2.0 Liter engine. Should it be the C200? Would they make a AMG C2.0?
Exterior styling Audi in my opinion wins but for interior styling Mercedes definitely has the upper hand.
Benz 190 has come a long way. Turbine blade wheels. AMG option? Sport option?
IMAGINE getting an Audi A4 over this unbelievable gorgeous sophisticated car
Lol they shouldn’t even be in the same class
Mercedes is German for nickel-and-dime! Good grief! This thing starts under $44K, so you have one with $20K in upgrades. Ridiculous!
Nice sunglasses Sofyan 😎
Hello! Always love and trust your reviews. My wife would great appreciate your opinion. She’s looking at the 2023 Lexus RC300 Coupe vs the 2023 Mercedes C300 4Matic Coupe. She keeps her cars a long time and looking for longevity with minimal maintenance costs. I hope to hear your opinion on which one you think would be best. Thank you very much! 🙏👍🤘
@@maheenjillani oh. Lol. Thats crazy. People actually say the muffler is dirty lol. Its funny because the cars i have seen with fake exhaust is still dirty because they dont wash their cars
@ 15:22 was I the only one who saw the robotic mouth open face on the back seat vent? I couldn’t unsee it.
Would love all the niceties but hard to trade in my Model Y Performance at 3.5 to 60mph for this…perhaps the AMG? Hope you can test it for us soon.
60k for a 4 cylinder only with fake exhaust tips 🤣🤣 c'mon this is bullshit
agreed
They paying for the badge . Haha
@M.J.G. you go and buy it
@M.J.G. if you don't want to see ppl opinions on things, don't read the comments. They are made for that. These are my thoughts on that car and I won't change it. Over priced for what you get.🤢
love both interior and exterior of this car
mine cant come soon enuf!
For 53k you can get the G70 3.3T launch edition that is a better car in any possible way. Yes that MB as a nice interior but it's not worth the 10k before tax difference.
How much is price of your tester ??
I love the look of it and I think it's a beautiful car but the fact that most Mercedes have discontinued the V8 in most of their cars except S class has really turned my stomach. I don't buy a car without a V8. They need to find a way to put V8 back in their vehicles
You’ll be disappointed for the rest of you life cuz everything will go electric 🙃 you can walk while screaming like an old miserable man and sound like a v8
Why compare Tesla model 3 to the Mercedes c? Have you seen the interior of the model 3?
Good review
2:52 did he misspeak here or is it actually based on s class platform?
Very Nice Bro! Get Good People!
Hey Sofyan! That fingerprint scanner reminds of Genesis!
Painted rotors would really suck. 4:30
Also is it rwd or awd? 4:25.....
What kind of sound system does this have ?
Where I could buy one
