Engines on real planes are oval too. and the "wobbliness" is to simulate the torque of real engines (that also don't sit 100% absolutely still on real planes) so its quite accurate. The random black pieces scattered throughout lend to a livery of plane that is "used" and not brand new off the factory hangar. Over time, black streaks and spots form on all planes, so this idea from Lego is to emulate that.
10:35 That is kinda terrifying. It either be bopping it's head to beat or having a seizure. The first lego technic set capable of having seizure? I'm sold!
something for the verdict the bad stuff: the ailerons sometimes get stuck and when you land with it the wheels fall off the main gear and the front gear is also done with small la so that will go in when you land
I think the reason that the bottom of the canopy is black is to mimic certain aircraft. Sometimes the have a small strip of black below the canopy to prevent glare
The amount of stickers is a record for a technic set but I think the holder of the most stickers in one set is the Maersk Triple e it has over 120 stickers.
One thing that I can see to possibly improve the model is to figure out a way to create a run-through cargo bay. (One where a smaller vehicle or similar package could go in through the front, and come out the back.) Either way, this plane is pretty cool.
Hey There! Great Review, ordered the set a few days ago. As a private pilot, I can tell you why the canopy has a bit of black on the outside. On a lot of light coloured aircraft, the sun reflects a lot of light into the canopy. Maufacturers/ maintenance engineers tend to paint the nose and window areas black to reduce the amount of reflection and glare given by the sun.
And btw why does everyone else have one giant instruction booklet instead just of 3? My set has 3 instructions booklets and so does yours.. and everyone else’s has one giant one
Hey i need some advice. I have this model, got it on my birthday back in 2015. But unfortunely had not a good place to place it. So, was on the top of my wardrobe for a few years. Now i have a good place for it, but the power functions require a lot of effort to move (even with new batteries), and the flaps on the wings get easily stuck. I did a superficial dusting to it. Thoygh would you recommend me to take apart to clear the gears and wing action pieces? I love it to bits, and was hoping i hadn't have to disassemble it.
I had the same problem whith the 2015 crawler crane and I just tuck out the engine made sure it worked and made sure that all the gears Wear alighned so I know this is 1 year later but maby it was usefal
The stickers are alot better now for staying on as long as they aren't over any edges. Man I'm gonna buy two if I can afford, one for the parts and one for display.
Finally a proper LEGO Technic plane! I wish it were cheaper! To be honest, I'd have preferred it to have manually powered functions and not battery-ones. I never liked batteries-driven LEGO. I hope there will be the same plane but without the power functions that raise the price!
Did have this, very liked, now i have it by pieces, when get it have been only 9 years old, yeah, it taked to build me ~2 days but i cant say its very hard to build
@@pulsehiker You could check Lego’s Pick-a-brick for more common lost parts, and Bricklink for rarer ones if you want to finish it at any point. I did that for my Chiron; I was in a similar situation where I didn’t finish it when I bought it and ended up restarting it and finishing it with some help from bricklink for a number of lost parts.
What is your impression of the sticker quality? Are they the durable variety or the kind where each one will be curling up in five years? It looks like a great model with the decals but I wish Lego would find some longer-lasting glue/paper. (Incidentally, thank you for the great production value in your videos; real pleasure to watch.)
i have heard and i want to know your experience do the LA and the mini LA have built in clutch mechanisum? Like when the nose of the plane opens you can see it bouncing. Sometimes you can even hear the gears make that horrible noise.
Hi Sariel, how do you store or display huge sets such as this? All the glass display cabinets ive seen cant contain it. Storing them in the open needs dusting/cleaning every now and then. Keen to know how you maintain your legos. Thanks
Daphne Seffelaar Not at all, i do it too. I always build the a model and the b model and for every single set you get more pieces and: you get much better in lego building for every set you buy.
The light on the rudder is the beacon or anti collision light. You only showed it and didnt say something about it. But ytill you are awesome i always check a set on your channel bedore i buy it.
I would put lights in this to give it a better effect just shows the lack of what Lego don't put in but this is my opinion I looks like a great set I own mist of the big sets I'm buying this one next
i think the 42025 functions look a lot like the 9396 helicopter: cargo bay, rotors, pitch, winch, doors, wheels airplane : cargo bay rotors, flaps, cockpit, wheels and dont tell me they dont look like each other :P
I like this set but i wish that the tail section had panels to cover the holes. The model looks kind of unfinished the way it is. I'll probably still buy it.
UHH...Sariel, do you think this model is better than 9396? I know both sets probably have there own "coolness" factor, but I want to know your opinion. Which is better overall?
Sariel's LEGO® Technic Den I figured out a way to give the engine 4 propellers an adjustable pitch with 4 peices just get 2 extra props and 2 lego peices 99012 and you have more power and an 4 proped engine
+Sariel's LEGO® Workshop I want to get this gift for my confirmation, but I am having issues with the power motors, are they included with the set or do I have to get them separately? I have checked on the Lego website, and there are tons of different power motors, so if this set does need to have the motors, which do I get?
Sariel's custom LEGO Technic creations I think too. Crawler rc controller, but plane has many mechanisms and hardly building!! What do you think about it?
the canadian price is 14999 if this set is acutally 119.99. I figured this out by checking the price of 42008 in euros and it was 119.99. And it was 149.99 canadian. And Sariel what is ur rating on this set
For a model with this many functions it's a bit disappointing that they missed a working rudder. especially seeing how they have everything else, even flaps.

To bad the prop's don't give any thrust. Otherwise you could use them for other nice builds or hang to the ceiling bij a wire and let it fly it self in circles.

Parts of the cockpit are black, because it reduces sunlight reflection that might annoy the pilots (or simply make it unbearable to fly).
Yessir, that's why space shuttles have a black nose to reject ems. overheating
10:35 That is kinda terrifying. It either be bopping it's head to beat or having a seizure.
The first lego technic set capable of having seizure? I'm sold!
The set’s taking backshots lmao
Thanks for this video! This is what our weekend will be like. My now 6 year old got this for his birthday after watching your video.
Great review! I like how you provided many CLOSEUPS of the various functions, and your video's lighting is excellent.
Thank you sir. But we all know that it's the hamster that makes the real difference ;)
It is certainly the hampster! :-)
Wait this was 7 years ago and YT recomended me this 7 years later wow thank god I got recomended to you and not someone else
Thanks!
Set looks awesome, can't wait to get one!
Great video thanks for taking the time to put it together!!!
Thank You!

Great review and great filming, you must be an expert!
finally...someone who builds like me... A HUGE PILE OF UNSORTED LEGOS!!
It's actually sorted in someway =))
I just realized how similar this plane resembled the real life "Dornier 228" Ferry Plane
Think the same colors, thats all
I think it’s more like a C-27A (9 years late comment)
I recently got this and it took me about 13 to 14 hours to put it together and it is just amazing
Do I see differential, gearbox and motor parts???!!
I don't know what you see but the parts list is here: www.bricklink.com/catalogItemInv.asp?S=42025-1
MY SUBBOX IS NOW HAPPY!

I managed to get mine for £50 :)
I was hugely dissapointed because of this
Awwww love the hamster hes cute.

hey, the expert was eating on the job!
i built the plane a while ago and i cannot decide if i want to build the b model or just take it apart
Is there enough room to fit a power functions AAA battery box in the rear cargo bay?
I think so, but why do you need a second battery box?
Sariel's custom LEGO Technic creations To add marker and landing lights.
Andrew Deierlein Why not use the battery box that's already there?
Sariel's custom LEGO Technic creations True, kinda forgot about that.
Very nice review, thank You!
12:38 The designers initials (Lars Krough Jensen) and presumably birth year.
I gave up on building this because the plastic bags a were not numbered
@@pulsehiker ? You could just dump everything on a table and pick stuff out.
@@superb334 the set is huge btw and i lost some of the one-of-a-kind pieces so i'll never end up finshing it

Awesome plane!!! Wish I had it the functionality that so detailed.

I think the quality is decent, but there's no telling how long the stickers will last. I've seen finer print, too.
i have heard and i want to know your experience do the LA and the mini LA have built in clutch mechanisum? Like when the nose of the plane opens you can see it bouncing. Sometimes you can even hear the gears make that horrible noise.
Of course they do, I thought everyone knows that.
Sariel's custom LEGO Technic creations i didnt know it. thank you
also the engine is oval since there is an intake underneath the propeller
another amazing review
Hi Sariel, how do you store or display huge sets such as this? All the glass display cabinets ive seen cant contain it. Storing them in the open needs dusting/cleaning every now and then. Keen to know how you maintain your legos. Thanks
I don't. It gets disassembled the minute the video is done.
Why do u do that u can't keep it
We'll it looks cool and if u ever want to make it better and more powerful and even add shocks to tighten up the rear end
Like in a real plane
Daphne Seffelaar Not at all, i do it too. I always build the a model and the b model and for every single set you get more pieces and: you get much better in lego building for every set you buy.
How well do technic figures fit in the cockpit? It looks as though they may fit.
They're only like 3 times too big.
Looks very nice, although I'd prefer it without power functions, so it would be cheaper and I would be able to spend with pf's only if I wanted to.
outstanding set i love it, i want it
Awesome review

Thanks. Pity they didn't put any LEDs in it.
Yeah its a pity but the set is awesome
Of all the sets available now which set should I get
+Angus Elmslie If you don't care about the price, get the 42043 truck.
To będzie cudowny dawca części :D
How does this compare with 9396, Better or Worse?
It doesn't. One is a plane, the other is a helicopter.
I would put lights in this to give it a better effect just shows the lack of what Lego don't put in but this is my opinion I looks like a great set I own mist of the big sets I'm buying this one next

I looked on lego's website and it wasn't there. How long has it been discontinued?
+K West No idea. Luckily, there's still the Bricklink.
Oh now I know it's got power functions I might actually buy it!
I love this set
Your videos are awesome by the way How many lego technic model do you have?
Exactly zero.
thanks for these reviews you should make a more developed army aircraft based on this one
How did you get it if it is released in 2014
Got it from LEGO. You would know if you watched the video until the end.
Go to Bricklink.com
Could you also show the B model
I will show the B model when there is instruction for it available.
UHH...Sariel, do you think this model is better than 9396? I know both sets probably have there own "coolness" factor, but I want to know your opinion. Which is better overall?
I'd say this set has cooler functions, but 9396 has better looks, more useful colors and the big rotor blades.
wait if it was released in 2014? did you go to the future?
LOL😃
Hey have you ever tried putting a lego minifig in the cockpit? Does it fit?
Sorry, hard to say.
How come? It looks like they could fit perfectly with few modifications
***** And they will be too big.
how did you get the set it's not on the website and i want to get it :(
There's info in the video.
Sariel you should do a review of your top technic donor sets
Fam bubam man And how would that be different from regular reviews?
Bro thank you so much I was scared that if my batteries run out I won’t be able to use it and have to destroy it then get the batteries out
2014?i can't find it:(
No safety clutch?
Kena the builder All linear actuators have clutches already inside them, so it wasn't needed.
That i didnt know! Thx for the info

wich one is better. LEGO Technic 9398 4x4 Crawler or this?
Definitely Crawler.
He sariel are You going to do a review of the New crawler 41999? I would love to see it. Thanks for the awesome previews :-)
Sorry, I don't have it. But there are plenty reviews of it already, I believe.
The only difference between the 41999 and the 9398 is that the 41999 has a winch and a different, heavier body,
cool review, think you would be doing the B model?
Yes, once the instruction for it is available.
Great review. You did great. But one question: is this a mouse or a hamster?
A hamster.
When can you review 42043!!! - Not for awhile I guess ( I am waiting anxiously )
DesignJunkie58 July, maybe.
i have a problen at page 47; what does that red box mean?
+Alex Rotaru That you should make sure the pieces are aligned, come on...
Sariel's LEGO® Technic Den i figured that out afterwards...

tteo Mastrangelo This set comes with a motor, as clearly shown in the video.
+Sariel's LEGO® Workshop thx ;)
Sariel, what sets is better: 9398or42025??? Please answer.
Personally, I would go with 9398.
Sariel's custom LEGO Technic creations I think too. Crawler rc controller, but plane has many mechanisms and hardly building!! What do you think about it?
Lego King_5555 i think the crawler is better for playability but the cargo plane is better for more display. Both are good sets though
Evan Zachary What set is better? I can bye only one of this sets!
its hard decison but i would go with the crawler (9398)

+SKULLSPLITA 27 I take them apart, of course.
Sariel's LEGO® Workshop ok I was just wondering if you kept the ones you likes , and also do u get to keep the ones sent by Lego for reviewing
SKULLSPLITA 27 Yes, I keep them but I take them apart.
Sariel's LEGO® Workshop wait , what will happen to the maus 😨
SKULLSPLITA 27 What Maus? I took it apart a while ago.
Will this be available in lego stores in ALL of europe? (p.s. im greek)
Can't see why it wouldn't be.
The mearsk triple e has about 150
does anyone know where can i buy/order this set in the US?
+Alberto Cortés Online? Like eBay or Amazon?
No steering?
Its going to have a hard time steering with no rudder but it can steer with ailerons.
wait you just said that lego provided the set for you to review... do you get to keep the set?
Sure.
Sariel's custom LEGO Technic creations nice :)
Czemu nie pokazałeś alternatywnych modeli?
Głównie dlatego że instrukcje do nich nie są jeszcze dostępne.
great review
Are the power functions included in this set? I want to buy my younger brother this on his birthday ))
+THE RUSSIAN Yes, as shown in the video. There's a motor and a battery box. Batteries are not included.
Thank you! :)
Thank you
How hard was it to build
Lizzie Whiteley Lego puts it in 10-16 age range, which means pretty advanced. I would say somebody below 14 could have trouble with it due to its sheer size and some complex connections inside.
Hello, I would like to know: in this set have a power function?
Yes, as you would know if you watched the video.
Why is the background black and in every other video it's white? I like the black background
Because the set is white?
Sariel's LEGO® Workshop Well, there are many other white sets like the 42052. Why don't you use the black background on other sets?
Because I prefer the white one. More light, better image quality.
agreed, sometimes different sets need some contrast otherwise it would be hard to see the details, no?
This or 42039? I will buy one of them, help me pls!?
+Khai Du 42039!
+Sariel's LEGO® Technic Den despite that they give a battery box and moter?
DaBrozFTW It's the cheapest motor of all and the battery box is even cheaper and very common.
i thing it need more light !!!
and what's the mouse name ??? !!!
it look so cute !!!
It's a hamster and his name is Noodle.
id mount a couple of rods and call it an AC 130C xD
can it fly?
Of course not.
Sariel's custom LEGO Technic creations BOO!!! I hoped that it could fly!!
orest kapsta
xD
orest kapsta he already sayd the props have zero pitch so they do not make thrust at all
oh ok...thnx for telling...
Where can i get this?
Benson Kwok eBay, amazon, toy shop?
Music please
how much does it costs?
It's than mysterious number right after "Price:".
Sariel's LEGO Technic Den Hehe i didn't saw it before, but in the website it costs U$140
Matheus Vidaal Because €120 is more or less equal to U$140?
I don't know probably yes
I'm glad I bought this, I skipped a few instructions by mistake so I only hope best happens when I accidentally left out a few.
Mmm... That won't work out well. Especially if you were building the mechanisms.
It's been fine for a few weeks, so, looks good.
Kewl then.
Mmm. Okay :/
Has anyone heard about the new bucket excavator that's over 3500 pieces?
+Ben Wojcik Well it's all over the web and has been for a while.
Oh I just heard about it. I guess I'm a little late
strange the instruction guide came as one hole booklet for me
Does it Fly?
It's about as likely to fly as a brick.
To bad the prop's don't give any thrust. Otherwise you could use them for other nice builds or hang to the ceiling bij a wire and let it fly it self in circles.
It's Lego. You can build your own propellers with these blades set at non-zero pitch.
can we change the pitch from these Propellors? that would be nice. But i can't see how..
Billy Bob Trueblood No, but - let me repeat - you can build your own propellers with the same blades.
Oke
which is kind of nice to see
The tail of the plane looks incomplete.
42025 or 42030?
42030!
Alright thanks sariel!
I love this set is the number 42025
Well, do you think I put 42025 in the title purely by accident?
Really cool!!!!!!!!!
I ordered this the day I saw the video. ;)
