Thank you for making this video, Alex! Dota is such a weird game and sometimes it is not newbie friendly at all. Hope to see new players hoping in after they saw your videos!
Honorable mention to venomancer, by far my favorite hero and great for pos 5 and 4. Gotten a lot of mmr with it. It's so funny when you're pos 5 and the enemy has an offlane Axe, he literally can't do anything. Usually they are 0-5 in a few minutes.
Absolutely! I figured to do this now because for all we know, the update might be months away. Regardless, the info is still good unless these heroes get completely redone lol. But yes of course, I will keep up with the patches
He Alex love your vids any chance of an updated version of this for the latest patch? I’ve seen your newer vids but one specifically tailored for new players. I’ve been playing bits for quite a while and was feeling pretty confident. Went into normal games and got absolutely stomped. Pls help
Ah just saw this msg. Catching up on comments right now lol. As I said before, I'm a bit out of touch because I'm taking a break from Dota. I strongly suggest Zquixotix !!
@@AlexanderCoccia haha no worries at all, I understand getting worn out by a game! I’ve played mostly fps games so dota is a great change. You guide series have been super helpful for me by the way so thanks! Good luck with the channel and marvel snap 😊
Why is Sven or Dragon Knight not on this list? Does anyone know? They seem good for beginners. (I'm not criticising, I think your videos are awesome, and their focus on helping beginners is great!)
I tried to focus on heroes with strong winrates that were also beginner friendly. DK I agree could have been on the list, but Sven we going to get nerfed into oblivion (and later did get nerfed)
tried zues safe lane. don't Cs 1st 15 minutes give all to carry but get kills as possible. then jungle farm later. both carry and me went fat. i suck at mid landing.
Lol Zeus is tricky if you don't want to be mid. There's been times where he's been a viable support, but as a safelane carry I'm not so sure you'll be able to do the job. You don't fear a late game Zeus the same way you fear a late game Faceless Void lol
Unpopular opinion: cm is best maxing first and second , dont bother maxing third skill esp early game ( u can put 1 point if theres mana dependant hero on ur team (mars, spec, etc). Those 2 skills are impactful in ganking and securing early game kills . I admit on the downside u need to spam mangoes and clarities. BUT ITS ALL WORTH IT. Oh yea please buy salve if ur carry needs one. And keep spamming skills. Good luck! Coming from 400 matches CM here
Ah! A very interesting perspective! I tend to look at my allied lineup and if there are heroes that can genuinely benefit from the mana, I'll give it to them lol
Thank God someone sees that. Maxing Arcane aura is such a waste. I always max Q 1st then. I rarely take Ult at 6. Q is absolutely obnoxious damage early to mid game.
I played league, but I got sick of the game and wanted to learn Dota. what are the best quick tips you can give me? and I'm VERY interested in learning how to play with Templar Assassin, I really liked it too much. but I don't know the best way to do it.
Ah! TA is a classic mid hero. If you're really new, its a good idea to go to Dotapedia (dota2.gamepedia.com/Templar_Assassin) and read through all that info. There's a lot of good stuff. I'm working on getting some hero-specific guides out there once I'm done my beginners' series, so stay tuned! I can add TA to the list :D
Yes TA is my favourite hero and I've gotten into her pretty much the same way as u... I'm not that high MMR but I have a lot of games on TA so some small tips I can say is Psi blades is a lane winner...lining up the psi blades consistently can easily win u the lane Rotate and roam a lot especially in mid game...she is basically a god in mid game and u wanna capitalise on ur power spike...I suggest going blink dagger as ur main item first And especially the traps...the traps r so crucial to her playstyle and the best thing about it is the vision it gives u...so place it up cliffs and the stairs and even in roshan pit to scout the enemy movement
@@kevyn.patrick aghanims isn't that useful on her...only situationally U really wanna just go dmg on her...so blink, desolator, bkb, orchid...items like that
In the long scheme of things, 8 matches is just the beginning. Don't worry about getting kills right now, perhaps worry more about dying less and getting more last hits. When you do those, you'll gain strength faster with better items which will enable you to get kills :D
@@vcp009 SEA server, but I don't wanna play anymore. At least I got the basic of how should I play heroes and understand roles etc. It isn't my type of game anyway, but thanks for the kind offer!
I´d have to disagree with Void and Tiny airlines, they can easily ruin the game. Being underfarmed on spectre can also discourage even the best players. Suggestions: Sniper, the tutorial hero and Drow to learn positioning. QOP for overcommitting and learning how to gauge health and therefore nuke potential. Wraith King, Chaos Knight and Clinkz are very versatile in all carry positions. and still basically "one button" heroes. Tusk, Spirit Breaker, Omniknight, Night Stalker or even Tidehunter are also way more impactful than Earthshaker without blink/force staff. Disruptor and Warlock are also good pos5 choices.
I’ve been wanting to get into Dota 2, but the queue times are RIDICULOUS, like 10mins +. I have yet to play a game with people because I’m not going to wait 10 mins when LOL and even HOTS queue times are significantly shorter.
That's weird! My queue times are like, 20s-2min. Perhaps because you're brand new, maybe it's trying to put you in a game with brand new players? Let the queue run and I'm sure the next couple games you'll get matched much, much faster
That's because the supports are new players XD Carry is a lot easier for a totally new player. All you have to do to be a competent carry is last hit. As a support, you also need to be able to last hit when farm is available, but on top of that your abilities are much more critical (at least in early game and likely in teamfights), you're responsible for warding, you have to learn how and why to stack and pull, and more burden is on you to read the lane matchup and respond accordingly. I think one of the biggest pitfalls for new players in Dota is being told to play support. A new player will be utterly useless on a support, they will just spam their first spell until they're out of mana and then sap XP from the carry whenever they're not dead from feeding.
I just have to say faceless void is not a good starter hero...his conceptually simple but he needs a lot of decision making with his ulti coz it can easily fuck up allies too...I'd say in general high cd big teamfight spell heroes r not ideal for beginners
I tried playing Dota 2 i lost 200 braincells it's super complicated. i tried figuring things out for 3 hours without using LOL tactics and my remaining 15 minutes goes to this video.Lmao. i mainly pick pudge and earth shaker. but i always get flamed for missing hooks and bad wall thingy.
ty for the advice, got tired of league and them revamping everything the way they did just made me lose interest. they just wanna make skins and pull our money out of our asses.

playing carry dosen't work well for new players.Supports usually feeds takes xp and gold from you.
