How come when it comes to forwards and xG under/overperformance we're quick to point out that it's something that fluctuates from season to season, e.g. Lewandowski 18-19 he was 11 goals behind his xG, nobody said he's terrible because of it. But when it comes to goalies and their post shot xG under/overperformance we decide one season they're brilliant goalies when they overperform it, but then the next we say they're terrible because they underperform it. Surely how we evaluate xG and post shot xG should be the same for both goalies and forwards?
Because strikers can positively contribute to their xG through good movement and dribbling etc. so strikers have the ability to drive up that xG that they’re going to “underperform” against. Conversely, goalkeepers don’t positively contribute to their xG against, (except in the instances of extremely aggressive sweeper keepers - but as we are talking about Oblak I’m going to assume that’s minimal). So if you’re underperforming against your xG as a striker you’re not necessarily letting the side down if your baseline xG is high enough (Lewandowski). But if you’re a goalkeeper and you’re underperforming against post shot xG then you are “letting the side down”. This has been my Ted Talk. Cheers.
i would consider havertz underrated if you compare his minutes per G/A to lukaku this season and his off the ball work is proaably the best in that chelsea squad.
Putting Kroos in this team and the thumbnail got them exactly what they wanted: angry Madrid fans watching the vid and posting long comments. Fair play, guys 😂😂
To cover Pat’s point, the reason Liverpool were played through fairly easily in midfield is because Fabinho had to constantly run out the the wing to cover for the fullbacks & Harvey Elliot was constantly running into the attacking third so once Inter broke through the first line of pressure they only had Thiago to get past.
Pato’s view on Grealish is really significant. People rate players attacking players solely on their goal involvements without watching them. Grealish wasn’t brought in to just score goals, he’s never been a big goal scorer
I think City just bought him because he is marketable. A fan favourite of the english people and to have him in the team would make lots of Grealish fans in England to become City fans. Tbh that is very smart business!
@@i3p973 exactly, but like I said, it was just to attract more football fans to buy Grealish shirts and them to support Man City. Let's be honest, Man City gained many fans recently, but only outside of England. Here in England, teams like Newcastle and West Ham f.ex. have more fans than City.
Havertz is in with a shout. I've seen people on Twitter list him alongside the likes of Haaland and mbappe. And any counter argument that is made just gets the response "he won Chelsea the champions league"... No he didnt. He scored a goal in the final. He didnt single handedly drag Chelsea to the final and then win it for them. He's probably a good player but absolutely not in amongst mbappe and haaland

I guess it's the resources that city have, the bench dept is amazing compared to Liverpool's. I'd say they have a better allround dept, while we are mainly stacked in attack i.e with world class talent, we've got lots of bodies in the midfield but I'd say barring Fabinho and Thiago we don't have an exceptional midfield player. Sure Hendo, Ox and Naby play well but Hendo is getting old, and his performances haven't been the best (tho that assist against Norwich the other day was very good), Ox has games where he's either very good in the game or just an invisible figure who keeps losing the ball, and naby well, i thot this season would be it, the season where we finally shows his full potential and the way he started it, it seemed that way but things have slowed down now. In the defence we've got a very very good starting line up with Dijk, Matip/Konate, Andy and Trent and they've been very consistent. Klopp giving Andy some breaks and letting Tsimikas play more has been good, he was getting way over played and Tsimikas has been solid. But against Norwich, when Trent was missing, one could see the struggle, I havnt been confident in Joe Gomez and i don't think he had a particularly good game either. We're a little to reliant on the first team, while city keeps changing, if there's a gap, another clog fills it, they're like a well oiled machine. I mean with people in the oil business they better be oiled! Sorry bout that, had jus realized i wrote "well OILED machine" and had to say it. Also, edit, i agree there's a gap between City and Liverpool but I don't think it's as BIG of a drop as Pat says
@@Max-ok8js thats clearly not what he's talking about, he's talking about how good the teams actually are right now and how likely they are to win the UCL as a result, not about trophies won in previous seasons
As a Madrid fan I agree with the Kroos choice. I said he was overrated a year ago and someone who didn’t support Madrid said “no he’s literally world class” I told them the exact same thing, he had good passing but that’s it. He’s a good player but not as good as others say he is.
Looool mate hes tired after starting 27 consecutive games 😂😂. Without kroos we are abysmal in controlling the game and we have no control. Carvajal is definitely not great but these guys and you are soo wrong about kroos
Sorry bro, but I don't see how you can appreciate it. For somebody to make such wild accusations about a player they hardly ever watch is just shocking. Nobody who's watched at least 50% of Kroos' games this season would say he's "overrated". Jorginho and Thiago get more plaudits than Kroos just because they play on better teams. Kroos is better than both of them. I don't think it's wise to appreciate such derogatory comments from people who don't watch the player they speak on. I would like to know an actual number of how many of Kroos' 28 games this season the guy in the middle has been bothered watch.
@@tharcisseofficial Firstly you mentioning Jorginho and Thiago getting more plaudits just adds more solidity to Pats view as HE GOES ON TO SUGGEST BOTH aswell. It shows you probably didn't watch the entire video before making this comment. Secondly, Pat and Co also state a large part of their rational behind including Kross was to gain clicks from angry people like yourself who will want to leave comments such as the one I'm replying too. It's almost comical!
@@QuotedPixels I did watch the whole video. Thiago was NEVER mentioned as overrated. The guy said Fabinho and Thiago were disappointing against Inter, but only referred to Fabinho as being over hyped sometimes. They included no Liverpool players and never said Thiago is overrated. Jorginho was mentioned, but it was argued that people don't overrate him anymore. That's a fair point, but it still doesn't make him less overrated than Kroos. Jorginho was on a Ballon d'Or podium. Kroos doesn't even make the 32-man shortlist. In regards to the "clickbait" thing, it's obvious that's how the others justified putting Kroos in, but the guy in the middle genuinely believes Kroos is overrated, which is moronic. He was sounding like he knew what he was talking about, but the words coming out of his mouth made it obvious he barely ever watches Madrid play.
@@tharcisseofficial I highly doubt that Pat thinks Jorginho is better or less overrated than Kross. In the video he refers to Jorginho as a limited player in a good team but reiterates the fact that Kross is still a good player. While I disagree with Kross' inclusion in this team ahead of the likes of Jorginho and others, I would agree that being one of my favourite players, even I overrate Kross, as he's probably not in the very top echelons of midfielders anymore
@@QuotedPixels The simple fact he doesn't make a 32-man Ballon d'Or list (whether you respect the award or not) is evidence enough that he's not overrated at all. Kroos has actually been excellent this season, besides that 1 game against PSG where the whole team was poor except Courtois. I've watched every single one of Kroos' 28 games this season and I barely hear people talk about him. The spotlight is always on Modric, Benzema, Vini, Militao, etc. even when Kroos performs exceptionally well. If anything, I'd say Kroos flies under the radar when Madrid perform. For this guy to say he's overrated is baffling.
Pat is dead wrong on the Bayern defenders. I think every Bayern fan would tell you Hernandez is easily our best 1v1 defender. Upamecano is an absolute nightmare.
@@G17x Well, I think he´d need to be played solely as CB. Also, Bayern defence can get very exposed at times. It´s not the defender's fault if they don´t stop the attacker runing at them 1v1 every single time, there´s different issue. But it´s always the defender who looks bad...
pats opinion on the Chelsea side up to 12:05 is laughable, what way to tell us you don't watch Chelsea. chelsea control the possession in most cases just lacking finish product, to say they sit back and counter is just jokes
Kroos is still world class at what his role is , that is control the tempo .He never relied on pace he used his positional intelligence to defend, it’s just that he is in a midfield with another 36 year old modric .
but that's what they're saying...he's a world class tempo dictator and passer but its no longer enough to be world class at his role because it comes at the cost of any form of athleticism. kroos is literally one of them machines they use in training that pings the ball around...
Pat talking about Real not making it close to champions league final didn’t age well. They definitely overachieved what anyone’s original expectations were
I actually love listening to pat he’s by far and away the best at FD he’s. says things that are just smart and thought out and I always try to speak and think like him In situations In real life .
Tell me what‘s the last time Carvajal played 10 games without getting injured? Please how could you say that Dani overratet? He hasn‘t played enough for the last 3 years. I do not think that he is going to be as good as he was, but I think he will become Top 5 right back again if he can stay injury free.
I'm a Madrid fan and I do think Carvajal is overrated at this point. It's up to him to prove he is not. The fact he hasn't played enough over the past 3 years adds to why he is overrated. He has to show us that he's still world class or else we can sign someone else and bench him. I'm tried of waiting for that guy to become a consistent baller. The main part of being world class is consistency.
As a Real Madrid fan I agree with all 3 shouts. Kroos is too old to be starting every game and hes not better or I should say hes not more useful for a midfield than Valverde. Carvajal is still wc from a crossing passing department but he is a lot worse defensively then before and he lost a lot of pace due to injuries. Asensio is probably the worst one , he scores bangers and people rate him for it but he consistently fuks up 10 chances or counter attacks per game. Good job boys!
Kroos is not overrated at all. He's adequately rated. Nobody talks about Kroos as "amazing", yet he's basically a way better version of Jorginho who actually knows how to shoot. If people want to argue how good Kroos is, fair enough, but I'm not having that he's "overrated" when hardly anyone has mentioned him over the past 7 years, despite all he's done. He was no where near the worst players against PSG and has been excellent for Madrid this season. Asensio also isn't overrated. He hardly gets talked about and is also adequately rated. However, Carvajal is a definite shout for being overrated. He's somehow still considered one of the best RBs, despite being injured regularly for years. Serious questions have to be asked about how good he is and he's the one player at Madrid who you can definitely say is "overrated".
Pat is spot on with the ronaldo slander. Obviously a goat but has really no place at a side as big as man utd at this point in his career, may score a couple goals but his drawbacks at this point in his career is really damaging to the system they try to play
This is more like underperforming more than over rated. Kai Havertz should definitely be in there and I'm a Chelsea fan, he's been so underwhelming for the hype he came with. Putting Werner is harsh imo
Joes comment on Real Madrid and the away goals rule just shows he has no idea about Real Madrid or watches any La liga, to start with benzema wasnt fit and ancelotti/Madrid have played this play since he joined again, ancelotti literally talked about playing this play when he started.
Bamba out and Dybala in and midfield pick would be Casemiro I know people who say he’s top 3 DM or top 5 and he doesn’t make me top 10 or so and I’m deffo missing obvisios Kimmich Fabinho Kante Veratti (him and Kante very close) Declan Rice F. De Jong (if you class him DM) Rodri Jorginho (playing him DM) Bissouma Kelvin Phillips (him and Bissouma are level)
Players get old and start to decline. Not exactly a hot take for views...even most madrid supporters would agree that its time to shakeup the midfield.
Neur was terrible for a 2 year spell, Buffon was bad for the last 2-3 years, de gea had a few bad seasons and others have had terrible Seasons. Oblak has had a bad few months but other than that has been amazing.

sadio mane. mane is considered by prem watchers to be world class when hes had 1 borderline world class season and is most definitely in the bracket below world class.
Marina would never sell someone who could still be good to a rival, it would only make us look bad if Werner stars for Arsenal and she's a lot smarter than that, more likely he'll be sold back to Germany for like 20-30m
As a Chelsea fan I disagree on Werner he’s not really rated by anyone. My choice would be Pulisic, Lukaku or Jorginho. Mount probably can enter this although he’s the most overgassed player I’ve seen but he’ll pass with his g/a numbers.
I agree with Lukaku and Pulisic. But not Jorginho and Mount. Mount is probably our most consistent attacking player and I feel like we a worse team when Jorginho isn't playing sometimes.
@@yoluno147 La Liga is terrible league now. Dominating in it doesn't necessarily mean that you're still class. I don't agree with pato given a real Madrid midfield can't function without kroos.
Cheers.

This show is so bingable, I’m always intrigued with the arguments each of you bring to the table, or pub I guess
Havertz had to be in this team. Absolutely lives off that champions league final goal and has done very little to kick on this season.
No one really rates him tho
i would consider havertz underrated if you compare his minutes per G/A to lukaku this season and his off the ball work is proaably the best in that chelsea squad.
Lighting a fire for a braai, got FD Sunday vibes on. Cheers lads.
@@emilezola1458 They already have Sterling, Foden, Walker and Stones, all of whom are very marketable stars.
Simply not worth 100m even with his unique attributes
@@reinderrider45 Exactly. Why spend a British transfer record on an area that one of your other world class forward can do to lesser degree.

He’s that player where i always hear how amazing he is and yet everytime I see him play he looks terrible
Crazy that they didn't put upamecano for bayern. hes been tragic every time i see him play
By what measurable metric is there a big drop in quality from Man City to Liverpool? Genuinely curious.
Titles...
Also Carvajal is just not it lmao, still don’t get why Hakimi was sold when he came back from his amazing season at Dortmund
Looool mate hes tired after starting 27 consecutive games 😂😂. Without kroos we are abysmal in controlling the game and we have no control. Carvajal is definitely not great but these guys and you are soo wrong about kroos
@@ramansingh8899
Yeah they made it sound like he’s shit tbh. He’s not bad at all lol
Not gonna lie Kroos on the thumbnail triggered me. But i appreciate the argument, don’t agree but appreciate it😂😂
Sorry bro, but I don't see how you can appreciate it.
Good stuff!
Pat is dead wrong on the Bayern defenders. I think every Bayern fan would tell you Hernandez is easily our best 1v1 defender. Upamecano is an absolute nightmare.
100 % agreed
He's so inconsistent for some reason and I'm a massive fan of his
@@G17x Well, I think he´d need to be played solely as CB. Also, Bayern defence can get very exposed at times. It´s not the defender's fault if they don´t stop the attacker runing at them 1v1 every single time, there´s different issue. But it´s always the defender who looks bad...
Rashford needs to be in there
pats opinion on the Chelsea side up to 12:05 is laughable, what way to tell us you don't watch Chelsea. chelsea control the possession in most cases just lacking finish product, to say they sit back and counter is just jokes
He said they are capable of doing not that they do it regularly
"Who Dosent (take a humiliation against city)" Spurs be like sit down big fella
Pat overlooks sporting thinking sarabia is the most known player, disregarding pedro goncalves, but says grealish isn’t overrated lmao
I thought they said one player from each time yet they picked two players from Bayren
Patrick naming Ronaldo is proof that Patrick is clueless lmao
"City 'big drop' Liverpool.." is quite a remarkable statement from someone who apparently knows a lot about football.

Joes comment on Real Madrid and the away goals rule just shows he has no idea about Real Madrid or watches any La liga, to start with benzema wasnt fit and ancelotti/Madrid have played this play since he joined again, ancelotti literally talked about playing this play when he started.
