+Princess Luna Try casting a spell while shouting GOLDEN VERONICA in the Royal Canterlot Voice, with lightning striking all over the place and your eyes turning white. I'm sure that 99% of your enemies will just wet themselves in a mixture of fear and confusion.

+Stephen Staver Tried it out of curiosity, and i saw that every key was already a "duplicate" couldn't believe they actually added game keys that they give for free.
+ujustgotpwned2008 Thank you SO MUCH. When he started singing it, I instantly thought "I know that... WHAT IS IT???" Would have bugged me for ages if I hadn't seen your comment.
+ujustgotpwned2008 I had to rewind that bit to see if I heard it right. Kinda fits with the "big smile" he had on his face at the end. Good song, only second to "When I Close My Eyes" imo.

Gotta say from the TItle i was expecting anything but not what was actually show on Screen. Also seems like an interesting idea and at least it's pretty creative in terms of a narrative. Can't say i've heard "Stuck inside a computer possesd by Satan" as a story before so i give them that.
For those saying that this is an Undertale rip-off: Did you maybe consider that this took a lot longer than 4 months to make? Because it almost certainly did.
+LocustStar It started life as a game jam thingy a year ago, I thought I had played this before. Looks far more fleshed out than it obviously was before as a jam game. Its on danmans itch.io still.
+Sam “Duster” Hartman Well it's not just demonic imagery for the sake of being creepy. It's actually like a profound comedy in that the plot is Satan wanting you to beta test his game, but he's a legendarily shit programmer who's also dealing with a surprising amount of self-esteem issues.
Spiny Justspiny Self-esteem issues? Maybe I should pick this game up myself lol. I got the sense that it was trying to be a comedy, but it didn't really "click" for me during this video.
Now this is the kind of game I love to see. Very simple, and very thought provoking. Just goes to show how simple a game can be when you put a lot of effort to giving it context.
+nonfickshun if only I had 5$ to spare. I already spent all my money on the sale. I compeltly avoided the game just because of the name. aughhh I'm pissed now.
I have a comment here where I say what this game is. It's a Construct game. A lot of them do what this game does because games like this are easy to make with it. Look on Newgrounds for a big pile of them.
also worth noting, this dev actually googled what a satanic cross is, instead of just flipping a normal one and calling it satanic (upside down normal cross is the cross of saint peter)
+Derek Westlund People have used an inverted crucifix long enough to symbolize "anti-Christianity" that only a pedant brings up that it was already Saint Peter's cross. There's plenty of instances where an inverted or flipped symbol is used in an official capacity and a rebellious one... but nobody comments on it because they're not wikipedia tryhards. Worth noting, y'know.
"people are wrong so often it's become accepted" 'kay, doesn't mean they aren't still wrong, and it's not still worth trying to tell people what something actually is. also, whether it's pedantic or not, doesn't make it not worthwhile, but calling someone a pedant for caring does make you look bitter.
I think this is one of the first times I've played a game from Steam before you made a video on it, Jim. But yeah, I'm incredibly impressed with this too. All other viewers of this: I've taken care of the second Core File, and trust me, it gets EVEN BETTER from what you've seen so far. Well worth getting, but I will say the Undertale rule is very much in effect here. The less you know going in, the better.
potentially wonderful concept, incredibly neat aesthetic, and jim gets confused at clicking and dragging three minutes in. already, this is a good video
Good to see a Ludum Dare Game Jam game (the snowman as an option is an inside joke) turned to complete Steam release played here. I actually enjoyed playing this game while it was in game jam phases.
As soon as I saw this video I bought, and then after playing for an hour or two, I bought the soundtrack. Hope this game gets the attention it deserves
Fun fact about 'code storage': All those codes were actually real Steam keys that could be entered to get a free copy of the game, although assume they have all been taken by now.
the codes from the code storage are steam keys, at least the very right column is. but they're all taken already, or at least as many of them as I could try before it locked me out of trying more keys for the moment
For those who don't know, this is a Construct game. It's very easy to make and they're often used for jam games on Newgrounds. Usually they're very simple single-level things. A lot of them try to do weird narration things like this one did in the intro, or at least the ones I've played. Didn't think I'd see one on Steam.
+FangTheShark I guess I missed that part. I was confused I guess because I've played a lot of games made with Construct 2 and a lot of developers (presumably inspired by Undertale and Stanley Parable) make games very similar to this one using Construct. Mainly because games like this are what the engine excels at, like Unreal is great for shooters. Basically, Jim might be impressed by this. But I was watching this and saying 'oh, another one of these'. My reaction was pretty much the same as when he plays first-person horror games on Steam.
+FangTheShark I guess I'm not impressed with this game because it seems like a more, how do I say this, try-hard version of 'There is no game'. That game was made with Construct and was fairly short yet fulfilling. Kind of like Portal. This game feels like it's trying to do the same thing yet it's spread a lot wider and lacks the focus that that game had. That's my opinion though. Thank you for correcting my mistake btw.
They should put this quote on the cover: "Of course I get stuck on the options screen. Why not?" - Jim Sterling Just sums the game up so well! (And I mean that in a good way.)
+Jim Sterling thank you, and thank the giant grumpy invisible electric donut surrounding and ever threatening the earth for you! And Jim, this is evidence that us ravening hordes can occasionally point you towards a decent game, once in a while.
JIM! I just watched Yahtzee's list of 5 for 2015 and I realize that YOU FORGOT ABOUT GODZILLA WHEN IT GAME TO WORST GAMES!!! I had completely forgotten that it came out last year too! That certainly deserved a spot on the list, even if you had to make another spot just to fit it!
All these comments actually kind of make me sad that undertale exists. Good as that game may be it's also insanely overrated, and now whenever something interesting or retroesque pops up, we'll never hear the end of it. Get over it, Undertale isn't the be all end all of videogames.
This is the exact reason the comparison is stupid. Of course people are going to see their new "favourite" game in everything. With the experience being fresh in their minds. But pretty sure the hype will die down all the same. Want another example that did the same? Why not compare it to Stanley's Parable? Either way don't mistake being baffled to being offended. Dumb comparisons are just irritating.
Whoa. In the Code Storage, I noticed a question mark. After some more examining, I realized in the third column of keys, the leftmost column read A SECRET MESSAGE TO FIND?!
it took me a few rewinds to realize that you skipped ahead on the first puzzle to unlock the chain i was really confused what you actually did to solve it
I love and hate games that will actually mess with you're computer files. It's a neat idea that adds a whole new level of scares but I hate it because once it reaches that level it doesn't feel like game anymore.
And now we're getting the first Undertale imitators. Ok, that may be unfair to this game, but when there starts to be a dozen games trying to be Undertale, it will be interesting to see how people will react.
+Adam Sherman You act as if imitating Undertale is bad. It's not if it's done right. And it's not like what Undertale does hasn't been done before,it has just not very well
This game was made purely for the enjoyment of Lawrence Sonntag....if you don't know who that is....well... He is Lawrence Fucking Sonntag Son! ;) Anybody who loves Jim should consider having a cheeky look at the Funhaus guys too...they are also really honest and legit consumer-oriented reporters....
+Kylr Avery (Tenor Sounds) I watched it. No it isn't. Main plot is satan has your soul and the ending is you escape yays. Oh and care for this guy that you never got to know!
+superkdude8D So what? this is a very gameplay driven game, unlike undertale. And the puzzle gameplay is pretty well done. It has, quite honestly, better and more interesting gameplay than undertale. I look forward to Jim's review of this one. Definitely enjoyed Undertale (had some Flowey flashbacks, there), so hoping this continues to be the same kind of crazy.
I love how nonchalantly Jim says "Satan" as if he talks to him regularly.
A pony game?
GOLDEN, VERONICA!!!
+JackZake64 Unfortunately, we still don't shout Golden Veronica.
+JackZake64 Took me a second...
now my sides hurt.
+JackZake64 Ah fuck, just when that was scoured from my brain.
+Princess Luna Try casting a spell while shouting GOLDEN VERONICA in the Royal Canterlot Voice, with lightning striking all over the place and your eyes turning white. I'm sure that 99% of your enemies will just wet themselves in a mixture of fear and confusion.
+JackZake64 I was very afraid it was that game that he would play now :P
Only Jim Fucking Sterling could smoothly hit on Satan with a "asl".
13:16 Those are Steam keys!!! Unfortunately, they appear to already have all been used. Clever, and disappointing.
+Stephen Staver I tried to activate but they were all taken :/
+Stephen Staver Some are, some aren't.
There is one that ends with k4ppa
+Stephen Staver The dev patches the game regularly with more keys.
He's a cool guy.
+IWANTMYBREAKFASTNOW what's the point? you have to buy the game to get the free keys. also ehat happen if somebody

+Stephen Staver Tried it out of curiosity, and i saw that every key was already a "duplicate" couldn't believe they actually added game keys that they give for free.
I could watch Jim play this for hours.
Fun fact: 16:03 Jim is singing 1991 hit 'I Love Your Smile' by Shanice.
+ujustgotpwned2008 He has great taste in music, that's literally one of my favs XD
+ujustgotpwned2008 Thank you SO MUCH. When he started singing it, I instantly thought "I know that... WHAT IS IT???" Would have bugged me for ages if I hadn't seen your comment.
+MrSaxon Haha no worries, dude. Glad to have helped.
+ujustgotpwned2008 I had to rewind that bit to see if I heard it right. Kinda fits with the "big smile" he had on his face at the end. Good song, only second to "When I Close My Eyes" imo.
+ujustgotpwned2008
I didn't really find that fact "fun".
I'm suing you for false advertising.
If only Sterling had gotten to Asmodeus. Oh how I loved Asmodeus.
+supleted Possibly the best guardian
That was amazing.
+supleted
Best part of the game by far!
+supleted It broke the 4th wall so fucking hard...
Bob Joga Fooled me when i played SO DAMN HARD
Well its noon and this is probably the weirdest shit I will see all day. Thanks, Jim!
GOLDEN VERONICA!!!!!

Agreed. It's a ridiculous claim.
+LocustStar It started life as a game jam thingy a year ago, I thought I had played this before. Looks far more fleshed out than it obviously was before as a jam game. Its on danmans itch.io still.
The demonic imagery is a _liiiiittle_ heavy-handed, but I appreciate the concept of this game. And the puzzles really are pretty clever.

+Assiman All of Satan's Beta testers have been Bronies.
Now this is the kind of game I love to see. Very simple, and very thought provoking. Just goes to show how simple a game can be when you put a lot of effort to giving it context.
the only thing better than watching Jim Sterling rip a bad game to pieces is to watch him love a great game.
Yeah I'm going to get this right now. I'm a sucker for anything that messes with the 4th wall in a good way.
all I was thinking was "firmly grasp it"
Just finished it. I loved it.
+nonfickshun if only I had 5$ to spare. I already spent all my money on the sale. I compeltly avoided the game just because of the name. aughhh I'm pissed now.
+KittyRabi Could be for the best. Stay away from YT and wait for another sale. It's worth it.

Is that King Sombra?
You gotta love that Jim Sterling
I love your smile too, Jim.
the struggling hardware sound is amazing. that's like some Eternal Darkness level shit.
I think this is one of the first times I've played a game from Steam before you made a video on it, Jim.

This is the first Squirty play where I wanted to stop the video and go immediately buy the game.
potentially wonderful concept, incredibly neat aesthetic, and jim gets confused at clicking and dragging three minutes in. already, this is a good video
Reminds me of stuff I used to play on Kongregate.
So it's a Puzzle game + endless runner with an interesting 4th wall breaking storyline. cool
Have we found Frog Fractions 2?
Wow. 12:26, those are actual Steam activation codes for Pony Island.
16:03 Shanice - I Love Your Smile
I used to love that song.
This may be the first Jim Sterling video I can't finish cause it got me interested and I wanna play the game now without seeing more.
2016 the year Jim asks Satan asl
"Hello you Thomas the Wank Engines" I had to pause the video there. I'm dying.
Thank you Jim. I was looking at your old videos ,craving more content from you
I've heard games like this described as "unfolding games" - I think that's an appropriate description.
And this is critically acclaimed? Uh Huh...
Cut the devil some slack, Jim. He is just doing his job.
HE has no style, HE has no grace.
Anyone else screaming at the screen "Drag and drop the word "back" where it originally was, Jim?"
ooh thanks Mr Jim I was wanted to ask for this.
Could you look into Ossuary as well?
"Make myself look like a foal." Nice.
Kinda reminds me of Frog Fractions in concept.
That might actually why I find it so endearing, honestly.
+GaldirEonai yeah I don't get the Undertale comparison, it's Frog Fractions that I'm getting the vibe of in this one
Fun fact about 'code storage': All those codes were actually real Steam keys that could be entered to get a free copy of the game, although assume they have all been taken by now.
Gives a new meaning to the phrase, 'The Devil's in the Details'.
i was really expecting Jim to rip into this game but i got more and more intrigued by it
I'm not sure which is more enjoyable, the gameplay or "Thomas the Wank Engines."
When those numbers came up, I instantly assumed they were Steam keys. I found out one of them was but it was already used.
the codes from the code storage are steam keys, at least the very right column is. but they're all taken already, or at least as many of them as I could try before it locked me out of trying more keys for the moment

Really played with your mind.
They should put this quote on the cover:
"Of course I get stuck on the options screen. Why not?"
- Jim Sterling
Just sums the game up so well! (And I mean that in a good way.)
This is like these silly creepypastas, quite intriguing.
+Jim Sterling thank you, and thank the giant grumpy invisible electric donut surrounding and ever threatening the earth for you!
And Jim, this is evidence that us ravening hordes can occasionally point you towards a decent game, once in a while.
I added a like and then realised that made it 667 so I removed it.
I nearly killed myself watching the options screen.
Won't lie I'm so glad you gave this game recommendation.
I am getting a strong undertake and magic circle vibe from this game. Interesting...

Aww man, he didn't get to Satan's desktop with all the Pony Island betas
That was... Amazing. I feel... I don't know how I feel any more.
Well shit.
I kinda have to buy this now.
I really love games like this.
Well, I bought it.
And I played it.
And I liked it.
Wow, I was surprised by how good this game was. I'm an Undertale fan, so I'll check this one out. :) Thank you for this video!
I just finished this today and Jim puts out a play of it
It's driving me nuts, Jim! What was that 90s song you were singing xD
Shanice - I love your smile
At least that is what someone else wrote in the comments
I've seen it a couple times in the comments, but... what's a Golden Veronica?
Watch what you're doing with that sharpie, Jim.
Whoa. In the Code Storage, I noticed a question mark. After some more examining, I realized in the third column of keys, the leftmost column read A SECRET MESSAGE TO FIND?!
Enough of that
You are mine now
Say 'yes master'
Oooooooh, I like where this is going! >:P
*types 'yes master' even when he didn't need to*
Infinitely more interesting that Undertale
Yeah no
Kyle McDaniel Yeah yeah
Not as good as undertale, but still good
+IsNation You had no reason, yet you did it anyway. Fuck off.
+IsNation ... no. Just, no.
it took me a few rewinds to realize that you skipped ahead on the first puzzle to unlock the chain
i was really confused what you actually did to solve it
Could someone compile all those atrociously genius intro greetings? Plz
Kickstart it, now!
Someone already has. Have a search
Ablaze No, I want someone to give it to me. Now!
Malcolm in the Middle reference
2:25 Jim figures out the game. Saved you about a minute of wanting to yell at the screen.
VideoGamer.com's lifestream earlier today was amazing. Alice and Dave were skeptical at first then loved it.
The pony looks more like a rhinoceros or some kind of horned dinosaur to be honest
You know that code you wrote down? Why didn't you just take a photo of it with your phone?
Hey Jim, I think you should do another video on this, it looks interesting.
Love the channel btw
I hadn't even heard of this. It's fantastic.
I love and hate games that will actually mess with you're computer files. It's a neat idea that adds a whole new level of scares but I hate it because once it reaches that level it doesn't feel like game anymore.
Ponies are way more complicated than I thought.
Please don't tell me 2016 is going to be the year of Undertale wannabes.
what a cool looking game. it has some great nostalgia & modern nods combined..thanks the upload..
It should have been "uni-core file".
Windows XP installer: The Game
So Jim, what is your memory from 1992?
Did nobody else see the hidden message on the Code Storage screen?
Quite the headtrip, I can dig it.
Having JUST played the Stanley Parable, this strikes me as similar in it's messing with expectations. Quite lovely.
Good game good game, But does it work with 3D-specs
Hmm Funny thing... If you use the code Jim got to try and activate a product on steam the steam says someone else already got that game... curious....
And now we're getting the first Undertale imitators. Ok, that may be unfair to this game, but when there starts to be a dozen games trying to be Undertale, it will be interesting to see how people will react.

love the sharpie squeak
Make some episodes out of this game Jim! Thanks.
DRAG IT JIM DRAG THE BACK BUTTON
I suggested this on Twitter immediately after I saw it. X3
Wow this is genuingly the coolest game I've seen in a while, I am impressed.
Pity this couldn't have been one of the Fallout 4 Minigames.
I don't know... Comparing it to Undertale seems like overselling it. It seems to 'merely' be a well-made creepypasta toy game.
+Claus Jensby Madsen It's actually a fairly subversive and interesting puzzle game by the time it's over.
+Kylr Avery (Tenor Sounds) I watched it. No it isn't. Main plot is satan has your soul and the ending is you escape yays. Oh and care for this guy that you never got to know!
superkdude8D Agree to disagree, I guess. I had a grand ol' time with it, at the very least it was worth the 5 bucks I spent on it.
+superkdude8D So what? this is a very gameplay driven game, unlike undertale. And the puzzle gameplay is pretty well done.
It has, quite honestly, better and more interesting gameplay than undertale.
Undertale shined because of its story and the immersion into that story.

kite freeks Except I never mentioned Undertale and was referencing the game being subversive when its pretty bog standard.
