    Hi Jeff! Love your thinking out loud! ;-) The plant racks are looking great! I'd like to have a vanilla orchid. They're so pretty. Fun seeing Toby, Pumpkin, Turbo and Poppy. Those steps will be so nice. I like the outdoor lights. They're pretty to look at. Loved the views of your fish. Would love a video on which houseplants would do better in self-watering pots. Thank you so much for sharing!

    I'm so jealous of your houseplants! Tell me, do vanilla orchids bloom? Thanks for the tour and the scenic view of your beautiful fish!

      They sure do! That's where the vanilla bean pod develops after the flowers are fertilized.

    Boy do you have a lot of house plants on that plant rack don’t know how you keep up with them. Wish I had space for racks like that with the lighting. I love taking out all my philodendrons out to my shaded garden all summer actually have them back out there now living here in panhandle of Florida they love it, thrive and grow so much

    I remember seeing miss orchid girl saying that while she didn't like the option, she used a tiny bit of leaf shine on her orchids in the winter to protect them from pests. Last winter, my (12) birds of paradise got mealybugs on the regular. This year, as soon as they showed up again, I rinsed the ones small enough to rinse, used alcohol on qtips to get everything I could see, and sprayed them all with leaf shine. That was in September, and I have only just started to see the first tiny beginnings of them. It worked unbelievably well

    • @TropicalPlantParty
      @TropicalPlantParty  7 месяцев назад +2

      Alcohol is essential for getting rid of mealybugs. I have to use it in a sprayer though, would take me an eternity to q-tip the mealybugs out here!

    Hi Jeff, try putting your pink princess in a pretty pot, you might like it again. 🤔

      Maybe! I'll probably hold onto a small piece of it.

    I get water seepage on all of my Anthurium and Philodendrons. When the lights come on in the morning, there is always water coming out of them, especially the day after I water.
    I was looking at that Apoballis but I wasn't sure I would actually like it. Now I'm thinking I should have ordered it. Oh well, there's always another day to order.
    I'd be surprised if the Marble Galaxy doesn't do more for you than the regular Pink Princess. Mine looks soooo much nicer than the Black Cherry (which looks an awful lot like your Pink Princess). A lot of pink spots and some full pink blotches on dark foliage. The Black Cherry is on borrowed time. (especially if I order the Green Congo Marble Variegated).

      @TropicalPlantParty  7 месяцев назад

      I've been hearing from people that they're seeing the Apoballis show up at the big box stores. I love the leaves on it!
      I already like the marble galaxy more than my pink princes and it's the size of my thumb! 😆

    That is so funny, out of all my plants my Pink Princess is my most prized one. Probably because they are just not available where I live and a fortune to mail order.

    Was wondering if you ever did a video on re-introducing your plants to the outdoors after a winter in the garage? I’ve just noticed before that some of my plants suffer sunburn when I do that and I was wondering if you had a technique for addressing sunburn leaves?

    Happy Saturday Jeff! Thank you for thinking out loud. And those steps look like they are going to be great! We are looking at a house that has the deck on the second level, which means that my future pool would have steep steps, which I don't like...

    Late viewing this one - have you had luck getting your epiphyllum to bloom? I have several I’ve had for 4-5 years and none have bloomed. Wondering what I’m doing wrong. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    I had sap all over my splendid leaves, I THOUGHT it had some insects on it but I couldn’t find any anywhere. I did treat it with a systemic and I don’t see anymore sap on the leaves so who knows. 🪻💚🙃 Dirty little bugs. 🪻💚🙃

      Some aroids are sappy. 😆 whether it's from excess water or them trying to attract ants, several common types will get sappy from time to time.

    Do you know if there’s an easy way to straighten out a longish vine that has grown all wonky? The vine on my syngonium chiapense, decided it was going to grow all wonky, I have a board that I would like to attach it to but it’s loop de loo ing all over the place. 🪻💚🙃

    • @TropicalPlantParty
      @TropicalPlantParty  7 месяцев назад

      All I can think of is to very slowly correct it. Adjusting it maybe once a week(at most) until it's straightened out.
