@0:34 Man Ken was killing it on outside zones 1 and 2, looks like he got a little too friendly with the wall there causing him to shut it down, but regardless, those 2 outside zones wall slides were nice.
@3:03 Yeah man although Branden had an nice initiation but was running a very conservative shallow line, he still should take this and advance to the Top 16 cause Gushi had that spin out and went into his chase run with an incomplete and huge disadvantage. The only ways Ken would have a chance would be for Branden to get an incomplete with Gushi having a similar in comparison chase run, or Branden completely wrecking his vehicle beyond repair. Good try for the both of them but I think Branden will advance and Ken gets to watch from the stands...so to speak.

@6:00 Did I really hear Jarod say that Ryan and his team put a new motor in that Carolla this morning? Well shoot, they got it dialed in and tuned up that well? I can't wait to see it perfectly tuned to Ryan's preferences but on to the battle.
Amazing lead run, hitting the zones and clips the way the course is designed to be ran is always a good thing, Tuerck definitely is flirting with that wall and it's only a matter of time before he leaves some yellow back bumper paint on the walls of these outside zones for sure, Jeff had a bit of a bobble in the transition and almost lost drift but he was able to rectify the situation and get back in the fight.
@8:06 I think Jeff looked "healthier" out front like Jarod said is because he controls the flow of the run, he's not trying to pace the lead car, he is the lead car, he was shallow on a few lines, and almost felt like it was almost a late initiation. But he did put on a healthy lead rub for the chase driver Ryan to maintain proximity but keep a safe distance, just in case, I think the battle was over after outside zone 2 as long as Tuerck maintained a good enough chase run and didn't spin out or cause a collision or an accident.

And if it doesn't go OMT I think Yves should get it. Unless the show a side by side drone shot to show the whole battle, I don't see it going to Chris at all.

@17:14 Essa vs. Taylor with Taylor being in a new car? HP lines up with each other and they both have similar driving styles, should be a good one to watch at the very least...
@17:58 It looked like Taylor had quite a few mistakes in his chase run, a little shallow of his lines and almost straightening of his car, in my opinion if Essa wants to advance to the Top 16, all he has to do is keep it consistent, clean and with a proximity to but not door to door banging is racing type of chase.
@19:52 Essa, what the eff man? That was a late initiation and it looked like he was trying to play catch up the whole battle. Very unlike Essa to make that mistake and ruin his own flow. Maybe an aerial shot of that run would help explain better of what happened to Essa, this might go OMT or lean in favor of Taylor.....
@20:50 it almost looks like Essa lost power at initiation for a split second either a bad gear or a slipped gear, could also be an extremely gripped up front end before he was able to initiate the drift and battle Taylor, I wonder how this is going to get scored.....and judged......
@ 22:30 it really looks like Michael Essa is having some type of power issues to be honest. It appears to me that his power isn't there and he's having to try and force and coerce his BMW into a drift and even though Taylor went wide on the last inside clip, it wasn't bad enough to OMT the battle or, in my opinion, consider Essa for the win. Maybe we'll get some info from Laurette later in the race from Essa but that's my guess as to what happened with Essa and his Liqui Molly BMW, see ya in the next round buddy.
@23:05 That was a great 1st run, watch either of the Ryan's or even Jarod notice something that slipped my eyes to make me pay strict close attention in the playback breakdown, hahaha.

This is going to sound biased and thats okay, I thought Nick was going to take Odi out and I was hoping for at least a OMT, wasn't expecting an Odi victory to advance to the Top 16 but after Ryan L explained it, I can see how they came up with that decision. I still think given the circumstances and the overall of the battle, it could have easily gone to a one more time situation as well....but idk. Good job to Nick and good luck on the season broham.

@28:33 I honestly can't fault Dean at all for any of his mistakes. Rad Dan was throwing all types of massive angles and in my opinion putting down an almost unchaseable run for Dean to follow and I honestly watching the run that Dean was doing what he had to do to stay in the battle but no destroy either one of their vehicles with the lead run he was following.

@34:49 I think it's going to go to Rome, but what do I know. Travis wasn't really consistent with either of his runs and even though he put on a show, it didn't appear to follow the lines of the track and he was a wild and out of control on some parts.

@37:14 Stuke put down one hell of a lead run while Love's chase wasn't all that good, a few minor hiccups in his chase but let's switch positions and see how Love's lead and Stuke's chase runs add up.
@39:15 I think Stuke is going to advance, although Love put in one hell of a lead run, but Stuke's chase run was a lot better, cleaner and he had the proximity thar was okay and he mimicked really well. I will say not bad for a couple of rookies duking it out in the first battle for the Rookie of the Year title match, and overall points championship.

@54:41 Literal vs Hurst, this should be an exciting battle amongst 2 rising stars of the FD world...send it bros.
@54:56 that is a beautiful example of a wall scrape, mad props and at @54:59 Mr. Hurst didn't give Literal enough room for the crossover to go from zone to zone, I am very confident that the judges will see it the same way cause from the first pass, it doesn't look like Ryan Literal didn't do anything to provoke or justify that accident that sent Johnathan Hurst into the wall. But Ryan didn't seem to be too fazed or disturbed by the contact and kept powering through like a boss. After watching the beginning of the battle and letting it play without pausing, it would appear that at 54:56 Johnathan wheel tapped Ryan's front passenger wheel which got him gripped up in a way that made his car hit Ryan on the crossover sending Hurst into the wall and sending Ryan to continue on flying solo.

@55:27 the eye in the sky doesn't lie, I was 100% incorrect about my initial judgment, I apologize, I'd have to give fault to Ryan for exceeding outside zone 1, slowing down or "hanging up" prior to the transition to outside zone 2 causing Johnathan to be stuck in no man's land when he was doing what he was supposed to be doing and that's using the lead car as a moving clipping point. Let's see what the final judgment is:

@1:05:59 Hughes went a little shallow on outside zone 2, seems to be a recurring trend amongst a few of the drivers to shallow up and not let it hang out on Outside Zone 2. Let's switch up the positions and see what JTP has in response to Hughes' lead run and what Hughes has in response to JTP's chase run.

@1:15:37 thank God for good brakes hahaha. From the looks of it this might have gone OMT unless the judges decided to nitpick and tally the mistakes by both of the drivers. Matsy is definitely going to go to the Top 16 and Adam is definitely going to be parking his Mustang for the rest of the evening. Looks badass and good luck to Adam at the next event.
The OMT from JTP and Dylan Hughes should be coming up next, unless Johnathan Hurst can get his vehicle repaired in time.....we'll see.
