Anyone else find it hilarious that Mark, Bob, and Wade (now mega-dad) wrote an auto biography on their survival experience? I can only imagine people reading "Then we built a giant cabin and gazebo, both of which were swiftly destroyed by incompetence, but that didn't discourage us. We just started on our next project: building the perfect bridge."

It took me a minute to realize that the guy at the beginning taking Timmy wasn’t a cannibal, but perhaps Matthew cross or another survivor taking Timmy as a sample to save their child, causing a loop, leaving everyone the option to sacrifice their child to end it.
They completely missed finding Matthew at all 😂 who definitely looks exactly like the guy who initially took timmy
@@vivritter7399they didn’t understand like 90% of the story, which is a little frustrating. I could say it’s for comedy, but all of them have RUclipsr brain most of the time so I think they genuinely just don’t pay attention and don’t understand anything.

I don’t think that Meghan was... well Meghan anymore. Meghan was already dead when the plane crashed, so the fact that she crashed the toy plane and pointing at you telling you what happened would be the artifact’s power talking to you while using Meghan’s body as it’s host since the real Meghan was dead inside from losing everything. The reason why your son was still conscious was probably due to his love towards you, Meghan didn’t seem to like her father and lost her mother so she was an easy prey for the artifact to control.
In other words I like to think that Meghan Is already dead due to what I said above and that what is attacking us is the artifact’s power. But again that’s just what I think, I could be very wrong but we might never know at this point.

I love how this game has such an underrated story. It’s a cycle. We found Timmy in the spiky box after we were shot down so that means the person we see at the beginning was a previous survivor who had to save their kid.
Only seems to be 1 cycle deep, Megan's father was the doctor there.

To be fair, they debated doing im multiple times and then just did it for memes lol. They were playing for an hour or two at this point, basically if they hadn't finished it that day. the likely hood of them finishing it ever was verrry low.

That’s exactly what I was thinking, it’s a cycle of parents selfishly sacrificing children in order to save their own.
This is just one ending too.
The man in red was the first person to do it, and his child wasn't sacrificed, she died when one of the mutants broke out and attacked her. It does come back full circle to a dad killing some other child to save his kid, but it's really unlikely the next parent is going to survive to continue the loop. The player character is a survivalist celebrity who had his face on magazine covers in-game.

@@ladylemon202 In the airplane cockpit (it's up in the snow zone the guys never went to), you find a magazine with the player character holding an axe, with his son by his side. "Tv stars wife dies, a tragic accident exposed." Timmy draws his father holding an axe as well (Mark called it a gun at the time because he had no context). I suppose you could stretch this to mean the dad is just an actor playing a woodsman in little house on the prairie or something, but I'm just going to take what the devs gave us for now. According to the wiki, his name is Eric Leblanc, and his name is listed as author of the survival guide you use throughout the game, as you can see the cover in the opening cutscene, along with a coauthor. He was named James Blank during development before officially being renamed Eric. The ending was him appearing on tv after his incident to talk about his new book and his experience, which he had to fabricate some of, because he killed a bunch of people to save Timmy, and isn't in jail for it.

All jokes aside, the ending where you find your child is actually quite powerful....I mean, it’s not by all means perfect, but I believe it does compel something. Maybe it’s because I have a thing for silent protagonists and well, great story build up, but man.....I wish the forest would get an update and not be well.......forgotten.....it’s such an amazing experience.

As an avid fan of The Forest, it's genuinely so interesting to see people new to the game figure out the plot. It's so much more than it seems when you start the game!
At like, 17:42 the captions mistook Wade's laugh/coughing for music. Now I can't unsee Mark unlovingly laying down a dead child to like, dubstep or something.

@@ultracapacity7531 Yes it's a repeating cycle and your choice is to continue the cycle have another father or mother come to save their kid and then shoot down the plane to save their kid either getting themselves killed or taking their kid away in a continuous repeating way or you can shut it down and let Sean die but end the cycle.

Mark, in case you, Bob, and/or Wade read this, there are actually two endings. You got the ending that ends the game. There’s also another ending, caused by refusing to shoot down the plane and subsequently shutting down the system for good, which turns the Forest into an endless survival game and permanently locks you out of the canon ending. However, that ending not only allows you to play on without terminating your save file, but also introduces a new secret boss that would be hilarious to see you guys fight.

the idea that mark bob and wade are like...... three friends who decided to collectively raise one of their kids together is so hilarious to me for no good reason XD maybe the visual of three grown men each holding a picture of the exact same kid and crying is really funny to me

I really liked the story and I _especially_ love the epilogue with grown up Timmy. I don't know why but the idea that only the father (or, well, fathers, in this case) of the child can console the...... thing inside the kid is really interesting to me. I wonder how Timmy fared after his fathers' deaths, or at least after leaving them. Did he have to learn how to control it? Is the thing inside the kid sentient and alive, too (i.e., think of when it needed the father's presence near it all the time like a newborn baby constantly needing a parent's attention. So, as time goes on and it grows older, it needs less and less parental presence until it's mature enough to no longer require it)? The fact that it still has "baby mannerisms" while Timmy is a kid implies it grows slower than humans, though that may just be because it was implanted in toddler Timmy and as such is "born" later than him. I do wonder how Megan fared so long without completely succumbing to the being, though......
Also, I wonder what the whole "live sample" deal is about? Like, what _exactly_ does it do and how does it work? What does it do with the live sample? Does the sample have any impact on what the resulting creature will be like (i.e., will it absorb the sample's personality? Their mannerisms? Stuff like that)? And the technology! Is it alien technology? Or is Sahara Corp. (I think that was the name) just really advanced? God, so many questions, but so little answers......
My guess so far is that the creature inside Timmy works like a symbiote of some sorts. Think Venom and Eddy. When Timmy gets all jittery and bubbly is when the creature wants to come out, but unlike Venom and Eddy, if it _does_ come out, dude's gonna die. Timmy obviously struggles with this, so as we see in the epilogues, he's searching for other Sahara research sites to find out what exactly happened to him and probably try to remove or kill the creature inside him.
So there's that. I'm just really interested in the overall world lore and would _love_ to see more. I heard they're working on a sequel, so I really hope the whole "Timmy goes out to acquire answers and seek solutions" is going to be the focus of it. Though admittedly it would be pretty hilarious (and poetic, I suppose) if The Forest 2 and so on are just the exact same game, just with different parents and child each time.

idk my friend and i beat it with little to no struggle, just a lot of fire arrows lol, she wasnt particularly hard, just has a lot of health. just stay away and use long range weapons (gun, bow, bombs, etc.)

I think he needs to return to the forest. It reshaped him, rebirthed him. It’s like he’s the son, the Son of the Forest.
Would be neat to see yall try out the "Champions of the Forest" mod where you get spells/skills and so do the enemies. Nothing makes you scream quite like a cannibal that can not only teleport, but can also chain you down while its buddy throws fireballs at you within the span of a few seconds. The mods for the game are kinda janky because the game is unity based and they didnt use something like the BepinEx framework, but they are still kinda fun.
I’m actually SO SAD that this series is over. It was so damn funny I don’t want it to end 😣
