It's hard to say if this story is a carol or if it's more of a ghost story. Only Charles Dickens could create the haunting, dark setting and themes of eternal damnation but still manage to dot the same scenes with the warmth of Christmas and the hope of personal redemption.
If you're asking what a "stave" is, don't worry. I had to look it up too. In older days, people looked forward each year to gathering together and singing Christmas carols. It was a fun tradition shared among family and close friends and it was a scenario Dickens hoped people would adapt for the recitation of his work. So, he called it "A Christmas Carol." A stave (or staff if you're American) is one of those 5 lines you see in sheet music that differentiate pitch. So, in the same way that a book may be separated into 5 chapters, Dickens separated his "Carol" into 5 staves!
I hope you enjoyed this recording and please let me know your thoughts on this rendition in the comments and give me some suggestions on the next ambient storytelling project!

I’ve already recommended this video to people, and I only just listened to it today! Such a great reading and the fire added such coziness. It felt just like Christmas.
So much more sensual and erotic like this
How many times have I read this story? How many times have I seen it performed on stage and on screen? And I still cry at the end every time!
Loved this! The crackling fire in the background is the perfect touch. It enhanced the story
My favorite ghost story! Perfectly told with an English accent. Merry Christmas!
I think an English accent is required for reading this story.
the whistling wind added to the crackling fire
Just wonderful. Reminding us all of what Christmas is about. Loved it.
Christmas is all about picking a man’s pocket every December 25th! 💵💰💸
@@catlady8324it's so sensual and so erotic
Dear Sir ,
How comfy and soothing with a fire crackling for listeners!
You have a perfect male voice for this .Clear as a bell
Thank you and blessings and a merry Christmas to you Sir.
The best added to this wonderful story is the click of the clock
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE WONDERFUL NARRATION OF A CHRISTMAS CAROL THAT YOUR VOICE BRINGS TO LIFE. MOST ENJOYABLE TO LISTEN TO.🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄❤️
this is a masterpiece❤

❤ Just adored...marvellous narration resulting in an amazingly atmospheric production x
Fantastic narration!
Perfect. Much appreciated
The best creepiest and Christmas narration ever !!I love it !!! For those cold dark nights 🎄🎅🌟 👻 merry Christmas!
Mmm, the warmth of crackling fire added comfort to this fine narration.
Thank you for production and posting.🎄
loved it especially the fire in background
Now that is the best reading I have encountered so far. It even passes the test that in "the wisdom of our ancestors is in the simile" the reader puts the stress on "the wisdom of our ancestors" and not on "in the simile", as most others do, showing that he bothered to understand what he was reading.
Superb narration! Excellent performance!
Great story, well told and well read. Love the ambience of the crackling fire.
Very enjoyable
One of my very favorite stories ever. Helps me fall asleep when I can't! Lovely voice, thank you for this :)
This made my Christmas holiday! So glad I found this video! It is such a wonderful reading of the story. Merry Christmas!
Thank you so much, this was a wonderful rendition. I enjoyed myself thoroughly!
So lovely and inviting your storytelling skills are. Dickens would be proud of your enhancement to his work. Bringing it to life inside my mind....Bravo good sir!
Thank you for this adaptation!!
Beautiful reading of a great great story of recognition and reconciliation. Men would certainly change if they could see themselves. Perhaps the worst even they are not purely and hopelessly evil. What the Dickens! Happy Christmas.
This has been helping me sleep during the holiday season. I don't get far in before falling into slumber, but I appreciate the video none the less
I listen to this every December, thank you! :)
So I will hear your call reminder all day tomorrow morning and noon
Wonderful job!
Well done.
Really enjoyed this video, the pleasant narration with the crackling fire. Unusually cold Christmas eve, with no fireplace-but listening to this, filling the screen with the glowing flames, I forgot all about the cold for three hours🎄 God bless us everyone 🕊
Really nice!
Thank you.
An Absolute Pleasure!!
I read A Christmas Carol a lot more now now that we'll be seeing Fionnula Flanagan (Mrs Dilber in A Christmas Carol 2009) as President Snow's Grandma in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes
Anyway, awesome mood story telling
Brilliant narration thanks 😊
Scrooge hung tough but in the end he caved in - bah! humbug!
I think you would like "A Blackadder Christmas Carol". It's like "A Christmas Carol" in reverse. The Scrooge character starts out as real generous and nice, then sees how much fun his relatives are having being mean and ends up like them.
@@j.woodbury412 Indeed! Found it on t.v. for two dollars and watched it with the wife! Every kid and his brother and sister were attempting to sponge off of him!
audio is good. it is working great ! thanks for your creative work !

Would be great but too much echo
Too much background noise.
Outrageous what they did to Jacob Marley, works hard minds his own business and that is what he gets! I know it is fiction but the idea is repulsive to me.Shameful shameful shameful
Merry Christmas and all other holidays of the time, everyone!✌️🖖
