I have the CTX700 with the fairing. Both of these bikes are easily some of the worst vehicles to change the air filters on! Great video!

A drum brake spring tool works great for installing the springs- just hook the springs on the stand loop and than use the spring tool on the stud end like you would a brake spring, mine popped right on.

Never would have figured out that’s where the air filter was and how to get to it without your video. Thanks!

Excellent How-To video. Great bike and motor. Why the Honda engineers buried the air filter under so much plastic is mind-boggling. Other maintenance items of the bike are much less labor intensive. Thanks for making the video

Mate, brilliant. Thank you. There are so few videos about this model of Honda. Tiny suggestion: maybe add to the title of this video or even post another one about JUST removing the fairings? There's a ton of fixes that involve taking them off but hardly videos on how to do just that. I need to remove them cos, like a compete twat, I dropped the bloody thing and so need to remove gas tank fairings so they can be repaired/replaced. Honestly, hardly any videos showing people how to do it. I think you'd get a ton of hits and likes etc. Thanks again.

@@DownOnTheRangeFL Aaah, bollocks. Oh well. Mate, if you add "remove fairings" to the title of this video, you'll get a load more hits. You've already done the video so noting more than a simple title edit. It was really helpful and I'm sure others will think so too. Thanks again.

I know this is an old thread but for anyone else I put Honda Goldwing rear passenger boards on my sister' red CTX 700 DCT . I have a Blue manual CTX. You have to get an adapter ( which my Honda dealer had along with the footboards) . Now I forget the number on the adapter s BUT the Honda dealer should be able to set you up with the right ones to fit the boards and the CTX.

My old BMW K75 - you could see the filter above the engine and 3 buckles locking it dow - 5 min? Nope they make it so the gas tank had to be lifted up and the radiator removed! This is kind of burried but it could be much worse.

I have a CTX with the fairing . I'm all about maintenance . I also have two HDs. BUT getting to this air filter is absolutely B/S . I've been told by a Honda dealer that the Goldwing is the same and most owners give it a miss. I'm thinking the same ( I don't want to) I even have a K+N to put into it BUT I'm not Stripping the whole bike to put a air filter in . Honda really didn't want anyone to get to this bitch.

I am doing the coolant change, the valve adjustment and the air filter for the next 3 days !
Probably plugs too (plus the usual chain adjusts, oil and filter change) Taking my time! That way I'll be ready for spring. (I'm in cold Canada). If anyone has gone this far in the fairing removal, why not stick a tracker amongst the guts of this machine. No thief will ever get to it !
