- The Basilica of Saint Mary's Archival Manager, Virginia Nyce, shares an update about the status of the new Basilica museum, which is being housed in the Saint Joseph Room of the Lyceum Building, at 313 Duke Street. As of August 14, it is still not100-percent completed. This video will give you a little taste of what the museum looks like at the moment.
It will open to the public starting on Sunday, September 15, 2024. Parishioners will be able to stop by after every Mass on that day to check it out. After that, it will be open during parish office hours: Monday - Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
(Note: the Saint Joseph Room will continue to be used for parish and apostolate functions; call or visit the parish office to learn of any schedule changes.)
Once it is completely installed, the permanent exhibit will narrate through word, image and object the history of the Basilica of Saint Mary, beginning with the earliest experiences of Catholics in the New World.
To learn more about the museum, to share parish-related photos, written or produced artifacts, or to schedule a group tour of the museum and the church, please contact Virginia Nyce at vnyce@stmaryoldtown.org.
