Really enjoyed that video, Darren, and your images at the end. So far I've found dippers a bit testing but will have another go when on holiday in West Country in June - you've inspired me!
Now a completely random post from myself, after watching your video and never really hearing about Dippers before or how they look, then had a dream about finding one and watching it last night! Found your channel when i saw your comment on the Terry Hearn video, great stuff!
Great video and a great subject, I'm also a fan of the Dipper. I've not photographed them myself as tend to do landscapes while hiking and never really took a long lens but after switching to M4/3 the 100-400mm is lighter so more apt to take it. I've also discovered a river where they've been both times I've hiked that path and the plus point is there's a great waterfall along the way.
@DarrenKnightPhoto yep, and frustrating. I once tried to photograph Black Grouse the buggers kept moving below me so I always had a shitty background that they blended into.
Hi Darren, great vid as usual. That bridge looked like a perfect spot for the Dippers nest. They often nest under bridges as they like to fly up into the nest from underneath, it also helps when chick's fledge with the river directly under. Love the shot with the larvae.
What a smashing vlog Darren ! - Have to agree with you about Dippers, they are always the bird we look for when up in the Lake District - they do have a special charm and like the Wagtails have that lovely bobbing action. Great images ! you did em' proud 👍
Great video Darren. I really enjoy your way of presenting the videos, which feels relaxed and natural. I loved the still images at the end, especially the one of the dipper shaking its catch with water splashes in the air - nice! Thanks for all your time and effort and for sharing your settings too.
Stunning! I completely get the obsession with dippers now, such charismatic birds! Some lovely images here mate, well worth the cold, and perhaps even the wait for the jump start! S
Great vlog ,love a dipper. Garry will be upset LOL. Keep up the good work and lets see more of you out & about instead of sitting around in your Pyjamas :) .catch you sunday with the pub.
Cracking vlog and images Darren, very well done. I was told by a keen bird watcher that when you see a dipper there is also a chance of seeing a grey wagtail, (not to be confused with the yellow wagtail because the grey also has yellow markings). Hopefully you have, or will get to see one during your pursuit of the dippers. Kind regards Robin
Lovely images and vlog, it is on our list to go back there again since we photographed our first dippers there a couple of years ago. We also had dippers in Monsal Dale not too far from the car park on the A6.
Hi Ian Yeah I’ll be heading back for sure. I was over at Titchwell RSPB again yesterday as that’s one of my favourite locations and the weather was fantastic Take care bud 🍺
@@DarrenKnightPhoto After watching the pub cast I realised we would have been photographing dippers at the same time and bumped into each other but the last two weekends we decided to try and find the Hawfinch and visited Clumber Park, Thoresby Park and Rufford. Didn’t find them. If you are out Towards Tichwell you might want to try Sculthorpe Moore, it’s a Hawk and Owl Trust place. The only issue is it doesn’t open very early.
I might be in a minority .. with this POV . I see no point in mentioning whatever settings you use ... Because at no point is weather etc is same elsewhere in the world or any part of the Country . No location is ever going to give you the same conditions
I disagree. I think it’s helpful to know what images looked sharper at a certain shutter speed or ISO. I agree they are going to change based on location, weather, camera system etc, but I think people are curious. I know I am.
Nice film Darren, they can be a challenge for sure. I love a session up and down the river searching for Dippers. Keep up the good work 👍🏼📷
Thanks Simon,
You too mate as I really enjoy your channel 🍺
theres some in sunnyhurst woods
I don't shoot birds, but this was still fascinating to watch. Looks like a very relaxing way to spend a day.
Hi mate,
It’s a great location and I’m really enjoying wildlife photography at the moment
Stay well pal 🍺
Great video 👍
lovely vid. I also liked the little Wren that was creeping about in the background
Really enjoyed that video, Darren, and your images at the end. So far I've found dippers a bit testing but will have another go when on holiday in West Country in June - you've inspired me!
Morning Debbie,
That’s great to know. Good luck and if you get good light you’ll love the results
Have a good weekend 👋🏻
Lovely concise vlog Darren. Just goes to show that finding a dipper location, sitting and waiting works best for this type of wildlife.
Morning Stephen,
Thanks for your generous comment mate. I’m pleased you enjoyed it 🍺

Awesome footage!
Glad you enjoyed it 🍺
Hi I’m just checking in to see how you’re doing🙏. I’ve been busy with my writing, hoping to get a novel published soon.
It's a great video.
Fantastic video Darren, I'm with you with the Dippers. Saw my first ones in Wales many years ago 👍
Cheers Gary, I hope you’re well 🍺
Nicely done. Great images and video. It’s great to see more content from you.

Brilliant mate 😊👍🏻

Hi Garry,
Now sounds like the perfect time to give wildlife photography a go.
A word of warning though, it’s very addictive 😉
@DarrenKnightPhoto yep, and frustrating. I once tried to photograph Black Grouse the buggers kept moving below me so I always had a shitty background that they blended into.
Cinclus Cinclus I love them. Our rivers down here have good numbers. Nice watch daz.
Cheers Alan,
I hope you’re well mate 🍺

I didn’t know that!
Thanks for the tip and the generous comment mate 🍺

That’s very kind mate 👍🏻
Nice work Darren, thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it bud 🍺
I try to get there every year my favourite spot for dippers good video
It’s fantastic and I’ll certainly return
Cheers Clayton 🍺
Lovely little bird. I've always had a liking for the cheeky wee wagtails that just carry on regardless of human presence.
They were extremely bold and no need for camo that’s for sure
Lovely set of pictures Darren, liked the photo-bombing Wren at around 9:22!.
I photographed the wren Keith, but the surroundings was a little messy.
Still fun to watch though 🍺
Nice one Daz, just getting to grips with a bit of Wildlife myself 👍🏻
It’s addictive 😜
@Darren Knight Photo your tok right there 🤣 even went out and got the 200-600mm for my sony on the never never 🤣 just don't tell the Mrs 📷😉👍🏻

Very kind 🍺
Well done getting those beautiful dipper images Darren, always great watching your videos, thanks so much !

Great vlog ,love a dipper. Garry will be upset LOL. Keep up the good work and lets see more of you out & about instead of sitting around in your Pyjamas :) .catch you sunday with the pub.
I do love a pair of PJ’s 😂
Cheers Roger 🍺🍺
Lovely to see a Vlog from you 👍. The photos from the bridge, (photobombed by a Wren!), are great.
Hi Sue,
I managed to photograph the wren but the landscape was messy and didn’t make for a nice photo.
Still a great little bird to watch though 👍🏻
Such a pretty little bird. We don't have them here that I know of in my area. Great shots. Especially like the one with the snack in its beak.
They’re one of favourite birds Sue and I love watching them.
Stay well 👍🏻
Nice video mate great little bird to see nice photos hope you are keeping well Burt
Cheers Burt,
You too mate 🍺
Excellent set of images, Darren and a testimony to the phrase "persistence pays"
Thanks bud 👍🏻

Hi Robin,
Hi did see a grey wagtail whilst shooting the dippers.
They’re lovely birds to watch and photograph 👍🏻
