I get as a recruiter. It’s beneficial for you to tell people not to be job locked, especially as a marine Corps recruiter, but if you want a specific job in the military, and that specific branch can’t offer that at that moment, you either wait till they can or you find another branch or recruiter, you should never go into any military branch with an open contract or with a job picked out for you get what you want and if you can’t wait for it or find another recruiter that can get it for you. I had a buddy in osut who had one recruiter tell him he couldn’t get an option 40 contract went to a different recruiter in his area and got the option for contract no problem this guy says it best recruiters are salesman for the DOD. They’re gonna sell you on whatever they can and like this guy said in previous videos, they are not your friend. They are there to get you to join their specific branch and to sell you on their specific branch.

I’m about to turn 26 and planning to visit a recruiter for a 18x or option 40 if my GT score isn’t strong enough to become a beret. I just wanted to share for my ego’s sake that I’m not planning to join because nothing else is panning out for me but just have been working in warehouses since I was 18 and actually making good money but lacking fulfillment and adventure. I also wouldn’t mind the benefits if I’m being real but mainly just wanting something more fulfilling. So I figured if I do join and don’t enjoy the military I could always take up the GI Bill for college and live the fulfilling life I’m looking for.

My son is meeting with his recruiter on Thursday. When he was very young, he had a few medical issues a heart murmur that he grew out of, also when he was sick they said asthma gave him an inhaler but was cleared of it, was only bc he was sick after he got better it went away, I don’t remember which doctors were involved it’s been so long ago and we moved, He has since been cleared and is completely healthy. Would his current primary care doctor be able to perform a full wellness check-up and provide a clearance letter? Would that be sufficient for his medical evaluation?

Just to give you a heads up, Im 19 and a Marine applicant. Ive been waiting so far for 12 months off taking the medication to become a poolee and eventually enlist. This was a MEPS request to wait a year. Im supposed to hear a final decision in these next few weeks, fingers crossed.
If you only took it for a few months like me, and you go to enlist when you’re 18, you’ll be fine. It’ll be more than 12 months since the last time you took it, plus for that short of time MEPS isnt really concerned, The only big issue would be if you took the meds for YEARS. Also the size of the pill matters, I was taking a 10mg pill. Best of luck!
