Hell yes!! We never hear enough of your era! Your cast does not get enough credit!!
Saw Piscopo's name and immediately clicked! I was a huge fan back in the day. As a kid, I loved his run on SNL and his classic role in Johnny Dangerously, but freakin' DEAD HEAT has a special place in my heart.
Someone told me this once before. ONCE!!!
Me too I’m a huge fan of his! Love his Sinatra sketch! ✍️
Ohh excellent i been waiting for snl cast members from this era.
Joe Piscopo was hilarious! Good times.
I remember when he left SNL then popped up on the cover of a couple of fitness magazines
looking ripped like Schwarzenegger.
Glad to have Dana back ... be strong little buddy
@richpatino I’m sure he appreciates the sentiment, Skipper.
❤ glad someone said something.
Great Sinatra stories. Fabulous SNL stories from after the first cast, fun and funny as always Dana, David, Mr Joe Piscopo . Joe's love, energy, and memories of the show are quite hilarious & marvelous
Yes!!!
Now please try to get Rich Hall. 🤞🏻
Dana Carvey confirmed among funniest in future times. When Data (android) on Star Trek: The Next Generation is seeking what is funny and ends up consulting a holographic character played by Joe Piscopo it shows him scrolling through a list of centuries of best comedians, Dana Carvey was in the list that stood the test of time. Such a good spirit, bless all the Carveys.
I love how he waxes poetic about some of his favorite memories. He sounds so grateful for his opportunities and success! Classy.
This is my favorite episode that you guys have done. Joe was so interesting, informative and entertaining. Seems like a class act all the way around.
This episode should have been way longer.
Dueling Sinatras w/Belushi story is priceless!
Massively underrated legend.
Great episode! Really enjoyed the story about "Mister S" seeing Joe's imitation. Also it's nice to see Piscopo look back fondly on his time at SNL.
Ebony & Ivory was a great sketch.

Classic sketch
Joe Piscopo!!! I like saying his name, always enjoyed his work and appearances
Great podcast guys...please keep them coming!!!
Joe’s Sinatra was the best of all time. Phil was funny because of the writing; Joe was funnier because he loved Frank.
Couple things. 1st I had never listened to a podcast in my life until a friend of mine told me Norm had one. Huge fan. Loved it. But once that ended, so too did my interest in podcasts. Only recently did I become aware that Dana and Spade had one (late to the party for sure) and am I ever glad I came out of retirement for this. I'm obsessed. I've been binge listening every chance I get and it's changed my life, transforming the most mundane chores like cleaning my house into bouts of hysterical laugher. So thanks guys!
2nd I've been a huge fan of SNL since I was about 12 and Dana, Phil, Lovitz, Miller, Myers and company dominated the show. I've been lucky enough to see many SNL greats perform stand up at Fallsview casino up in Canada. Great venue for me because it's relatively small and intimate but probably not ideal for the comics since the majority of the audience is comprised of high rollers who lose an obscene amount of money on the gaming floor and then get comped tickets as a consolation). I have seen Sandler, Rock, Nealon, Schneider, Norm❤, and both Dana and David over the past decade. Although I've enjoyed all of the performances, I have to say that I never laughed harder than I did when I saw David Spade (and Norm). Nobody else made me spit my drink out, cause tears to pour out of my eyes and clutch my stomach because it hurt, and nearly induce an uncontrollable coughing fit due to excessive laughter. I've heard Spade say, on several occasions, that Tommy Boy was all Farley, and I was a huge fan of his, but without Spade that movie would have been nothing. He may be playing the straight man and his delivery is sometimes so quiet and subtle, but he is brilliant and hilarious. I sure hope he's got some Canadian dates coming up on his tour because I would love to see him again, preferably somewhere other than the casino. Loved Dana too...he was my absolute favorite when I first started watching SNL as a kid and I adore his impressions and stories on the podcast, but wanted to spread the love for David!! Keep up the good work boys and don't pay attention to the freaks who complain you guys interrupt the guests and talk too much. I could happily listen to the two of you shoot the shit about whatever pops into your heads every day of the week.
I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Piscopo when i was doing a Sammy Davis tribute show at an event. He was the nicest guy.
Great show, this should be a college credit course. The History and deep dive that many of the shows go into is just awesome.
I gotta say that this is one of the few episodes that I’ve enjoyed the most. Why? Because Piscopo was able to tell his stories without being interrupted much. Keep up the good work guys!! 👍
This was a great interview. I thought I had the wrong podcast at times, you guys were SO quiet. Very touching in parts, so great to hear the mutual respect.
That was fun! Thx guys!
Thanx Dudes. Much Appreciated can't wait for the New Show. Dudes And Joe TY All
That was a Great one Dudes Thanx again ;- }
Dana I'm from Kalispell MT! I love you so so much, truly thank you for all the greatest laughs of my life ❤
Oh Spade love you too! (No sarcasm in that)
Wicked fun show - love JP’s stories !!! 🚀🔥💥
Joe is a delightfully cool and talented guy. Great to hear his stories.
Remembering Norm!!!!
Please make it happen!
Every video should have a bookmark for when they talk about Norm.
Saw Wise Guys with my uncle, miss seeing Joe in the movies.
This episode is an instant classic... Mr. Joe Piscopo.
I met that cast spring of 82 visiting my friend Robin Duke. I had worked with her as music director for Second City. She took me to Belushi’s wake at the Lone Star Cafe and I introduced me to the SNL cast who were there. Tim Kazurinsky was there- and he talked to me about how hard it was at that time. I wanted to connect, move to NYC, and as a dual national born in Philadelphia I thought I had a shot- but the timing couldn’t have been worse I guess. And even to this day, nobody ever connects my skill improvising underscores to scenes to anything anyone can do on tv. Well big boo hoo- I did ok anyway. But I’ve always felt it could have been better THEN. Meaning the talent has always had to survive circumstances that were dare I say it, cruel?
Loved it, guys. 💙
I've been hoping you guys would get Joe Piscopo. I actually like that period of SNL
Christopher Guest!
Hey guys! This show is coming on strong. Fantastic shows lately.
I've been waiting for this guy to come on!!!
Thank youuuuu Mr Acovado.....
Awesome episode 😊
Piscopo is such a sweet guy. Loved him in Johnny Dangerously.
That Frank n Stevie sketch is legendary. "You are black. I am white. You are blind as a bat and I have sight."
Without even listening to this episode yet, I know it's going to be great. Joe's always been fantastic. And Johnny Dangerously is one of my favorite damn movies, and he has some of the best friggin lines in it.
"My father shot me once, ONCE..."
Great to hear from Piscopo
Joe's an extrordinary performer with some great stories to tell.
JOE IS THE BEAT man!
THAT NINJA MOVIE BRO WORH CHUCK NORRIS 0:52 Eddie and Joe 1983
Great show
Waaaaaaaaaaay too short. Need a Part 2 of Joe - seriously.
Wish we had the video for this one
I love that episode of star trek Joe is in
Another great episode D and D. Love Joe P. Please have Julia LD on.
Joe: "You shouldn't podcast me, Dana and David. AM 970 podcasted me once...ONCE!"
22:35 Invite Tim Kazurinsky to the podcast!
I've said it before and I'll say it again you really need 2 hours 💜
We want Gary Kroeger
The Mass sightings of Farley on both coasts are always bittersweet to hear.
So glad Piscopo is doing so well! Many years back he had a fight with Cancer and won!
Joe Piscopo is so great!😄🤗😍🐐
great interview, Piscopo comes across as a class act
The Whiners! Doug - Wendy?
Good SNL historical info. after original cast rebuild.
Awesome to have Joe on the show! He's been out of the spotlight for quite some time it seems.
Love that 'Back to Zero' line Dave mentioned about Farley's Church discipline!....LOL.
David! get the video hooked up for Pete's sake! Thank you for the fun podcasts
This guy was a giant with Eddie Murphy. So funny. As an aside though, I think he had the biggest bomb I ever saw on SNL. It was a Mad Magazine sketch and it was total silence and Joe was holding for laughs that never came. Builds character 😉
Can you imagine dueling Sinatras.
Great to hear Joe after all these years. Where has he been?
Piscopo doesn’t get nearly enough credit for his SNL run. He really helped save the show with Eddie Murphy in the early 80s
Love Piscopo - Wish they would release his HBO comedy Special from back in the day. It would also be great if they would keep releasing the SNL Seasons - I have the first 5 seasons on DVD - Would be great to be able to buy the rest of them. Not only great comedians but all the great musicians/bands - Streaming is great, but physical copies would be better
My favorite podcast. Spadoodle, please get Tim Robinson on the show! Sincerely, everybody.
9:09 !!never been to Mew York
2:53 Cheer and chatter!
4:54 vibe the dude the mic!!
Lime the suit. Looks great.
Joe Piscopo and Eddie Murphy (both were in SNL) = Murphy played Stevie Wonder; Piscopo played "Old Blue Eyes" himself, Frank Sinatra: Joe did play Frank (or was it Phil Hartman (R.I.P.), who did a Sinatra impression) in a lounge diner with "Billy Idol" ?; he did a great Dave Letterman impression, in a skit = "New Jersey" comedy album; "Wise Guys (1986)" was a funny comedy featuring Danny DeVito and Captain Lou Albano (WWF), as a mob boss. One of New Jersey's famous sons, just like Jon Bon Jovi, & Frank Sinatra...
🥰 🎤 COMEDY GOLD RIGHT HERE LADIES AND GENTS 🙌
Love Piscopo and his energy. Thanks for saving the show when others, such as O'Donoghue, were trying to pull the plug. We need more 80 to 85 discussion, when Lorne was away from the show. Fascinating period.
Is anyone here old enough to remember the horror comedy Dead Heat Joe was in with the late, great Treat Williams? Fun, underrated flick.
Loved the will arnett ep
Wake a tha children. Call a tha neighbours, you don’t wanna miss this one folks.
Hold up how can you not ask him about the incredible O&A segment on Club Piscopo?
joe is a fucking master of work
Can I watch the actual Video of these shows? I love listening but so much more comes out when you see them interacting. A lot of their Comedy is Visual. Please video tape!
Love you guys. Piscopo is great. Guest audio quality is often BAD (distant + echo) can you guys try and improve that? Lotta folks don't know the most basic stuff about decent audio but it's not that tough. You could even pre-ship your guest a packet that would include headphones. The most basic wired earbuds and bluetooth over the ear headsets have mics built in and would probably go a long way to making it sound like the guest is in the same room. Your producer could easily do a pre-pod soundcheck and get it set right.
My dad love joe piscopo he was very popular along with eddie Murphy remember that youngest host drew barrymore at 10 years old? In California theres a children star protection act in place saw a documentary on tmz on child actors. I believe some of snl alums who are young dads like jimmy Fallon and Chris kattans own kids and they need to send their kids to the inprov camp this summer to become child comedy 🌟 stars
46:20
Shooter McGavin in the house! Nice conversation, I learned a lot. The 80-85 SNL era to me is so throw away but it's cool to hear the stories from behind the scenes.
I watched David Spade’s recent standup special online yesterday. Too funny 😂🥰😎
21:00
3:06 I’ll live band you. In a minute (COME GETSOOOOOME)
Joe Piscopo threw out a first pitch at Newark Bears game, he waited a minute for my kid to run behind the backstop so I could snap a pic of the two of them. I appreciat4e him.
John Belushi & Dan Aykroyd = "The Blues Brothers"; two "SNL" legends, just like (Chris) Farley ("Tommy Boy," "Black Sheep"; Matt Foley, the Man who lived in a Van down by the River; as a Beatles fan (Chris talked to Paul McCartney, in an elevator (?) ).
Dana knows perfect 5:18 highlights
9:04 look
It's interesting how there are so many partiers in the show's history and nearly everyone is still alive. We've lost less than 10 of the 150+ including only two from the original cast.
4:47 poor guy!!
Mary was soo funny! Gm too!
Finally, a guest from the years without Lorne.
Now PLEASE have Mary Gross and Tim Kazurinsky on. They're SNL's forgotten heroes. Mary, Tim, Eddie, and Joe were the only talent while Lorne was gone until the ringer season with Short, Guest, and Crystal.
Do it just got it 7:52 go to work and make it brothers and sisters! 8:05
JoeY!.
6:49 cool story 6:57
Down Piscopo was a pretty good movie about the Navy. Had biggolow jiggywinkle and willrand harlam$.
That ended differently...
