I‘m sipping an excellent glass of white wine, enjoying the breathtaking sunset on Tenerife and watching another brilliant Tyrrell‘s Classic Workshop video. I can now die as a happy man!
This has brought back memories of seeing my first Lamborghini Miura - the original super car. I grew up in the East End of London where I believe the first Lamborghini dealership in the U.K. was situated back in 1967/68. Originally "Alie Street Service Station" in Alie St., London E.1., the dealership operated under the name "Nicholas van der Steen". While walking past the forecourt of the garage (complete with petrol pumps), I saw the Miura parked outside. It was right - hand drive for the U.K. black with a white interior - that's "Nero cangiante" paint with "Bianco" leather upholstery. Just stunning! No one was about so I went up close to the car and peered inside. Wow, that cockpit - just so ahead of it's time! One thing I did notice was that the speedometer had not been fitted. But on the passenger seat was a cardboard box which looked about the right size to hold a speedo'. Did the dealership fit the speedo' so that the customer took delivery of the car with "minimum mileage"? Was the car tested with a k.p.h speedo' at the factory, and then shipped after it was removed? Or had the unit failed in during it's pre - delivery check and the replacement was waiting to be fitted? As so few r.h.d. Miuras were made, I wonder what happened to that car. Eventually van der Steens became Lamborghini Concessionaires as the marque grew in the U.K. and the rest as they say is history. Thank you Iain for your work, diligence and singing (!) in this episode of your Classic Car Workshop, especially your interview with Mr. Gandini. Between you and Harry's Garage, you are creating "Petrolheads Nirvana" ! Molto Grazie! (I think that's many thanks in Italian).

I'm bound to say Mr. Tyrrell; when you look at the viewing figures and subscriber rates of some HQ producers like this, and that it can be done every bit as well as a traditional broadcaster, it does make the future of the aggressive, metropolitan, insular BBC (and others to be fair) look very thin indeed. I resisted new media for years, and I'm an arch tradionalist in many ways, but even I have to admit when I'm wrong, and the future has sort of rushed up in front of us. When content of this quality is available upon demand and people aren't threatened with prison if they don't pay the licence fee, I think the future is clear. Well done Sir. As Ian Fleming once said in one of the Bond books - there is nothing more enjoyable than listening to an expert who really knows his subject.

Iain I don’t know how you tube and the serious auto fans ever did without you. Been with from the start but this was very special. Thank you for sharing.
We've been really spoiled for quality content as of late. Harry's talk with Gordon Murray about the T50, Chris Harris's podcast with Murray, and now Iain Tyrrell has rounded it off with an Italian Job Miura tribute in which he not only drives the same car from the movie through the Alps, but also sings the trademark song and visits the Miura's designer! Thank you Mr Tyrrell!
Wow! The Italian Job is one of my all time favorite movies, from the intro with the Miura (narrowly missing an Austin 1100 at one point!), the glorious sounding Fiat Coupe used by the Mafia boss, to the 3 Mini Coopers and the Aston DB5 driven by Charlie Croker and his girlfriend. The whole film is a car enthusiast’s delight. What a story yours is too, Iain. To help trace the Miura, verify it, then drive it in the Alps and finally meet it’s creator. Fantastic. Thanks for sharing such a fabulous experience. Your rendition of the song was spot on too. I’ll download it, especially as it’s for charity. Grazie Mille Iain 😊
I agree with you! This whole video is the stuff of dreams! We all first saw the Muira in the Italian Job, and were immediatly hooked by the intro. Very small correction; the Aston was a DB4.
henryhol8538 I did wonder was it a DB4 or a 5! Yes, the 5 had the more swept back front end with the glass covers over the headlights. Well done for the correction!
1914 saxon Ah, OK. I’d didn’t realise Innocenti had built the 1100 too. I know they built a version of the Mini and did their own Mini replacement with a really cute small hatchback. Just Googled the 1100 and Innocenti made a very pretty 1100 coupe and spider.
Here we are, being astoundingly staggered by this brilliantly refined calibre of production, and being left speechless at the end. Elegance and grace still do exist. I would dare say that a fair degree of calm re-gentrification is dearly needed in today's society indeed, at least to my mind. You are a bright shining light on this and by your content. Thank you Mr. Tyrrell :)
This is the best RUclips video of all time THE muira from the Italian job ! I’m in the alps right now, in chamonix not too far from where that was filmed . I’m not allowed to watch it as I’m out with the mrs , but rest assured when we get back to the camper , I still won’t be allowed to watch it 😂

My very first toy car was a orangey red Muira. It says something of its design, that I can still remember it clearly 5 decades later.
You have fulfilled every petrol head’s childhood dream, driving a... THE Muira on those roads between Italy and a France, just amazing. This is the sort of content we came for... and we weren’t disappointed! Keep up the great work!! ♥️
Three months from design to show....and we think we’re so clever these days! This is awesome, thank you. I’m tone deaf but was singing ‘Days Like These’ to myself in my helmet on a tour of Italy last year on Ducati. I grew up loving The Italian Job, and still do. I always remember the Muira in it as red.
"You were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off!" 💣
Today is my birthday. Thankyou, Iain for a marvellous present.
This guy is a legend. Thanks for the video.
What a treat to see the legend himself talk about the Miura. Blows my mind that he was in his 20s when he designed it.
Watch and learn! A polite and well-skilled true English gentleman. Maybe Britain is not dead yet! Thank you very much for extremely good and well presented content.
I can’t believe you haven’t had years of experience in presenting these videos. Polished, informative and a natural in front of the camera.
The best supercar. The best movie. The best song. Wow. And then... let’s add on an interview with M. Gandini. What a triumph. I’m so grateful to Harry to have let me discover your channel and this sonorous video. Muira sounds great. More car drive videos requested. Congratulations Iain from Australia.
Iain I don’t know how you tube and the serious auto fans ever did without you. Been with from the start but this was very special. Thank you for sharing.
You talented bugger!!!! Loving your work.
Chris
The recreation of the Italian Job made me all teary eyes!
This video will never be topped. What an amazing experience, thanks for sharing.
Only one word . Perfection!
On days like these i................ Watch tyrrell's classic workshop and sing along too absolutely brilliant
Excellent stuff. As it is in his other videos, it is so much nicer to watch someone drive 'normally' rather than revving the nuts off everything!
I thought it was great. And then....he took the Miura to meet Marcello Gandini. I found that profoundly moving.
Close, but it was actually an Innocenti, not an Austin, 1100!
henryhol8538 I did wonder was it a DB4 or a 5!
@@andrewmoorhouse687 The 2019 London Classic Car show had a stand featuring cars from the film. The video of the event is on my RUclips channel.
Brilliant Iain, no frills, no gimmics, no shouty commentary. Well done.
Tyrrell :)
The video that keeps on giving! Italian Job Muira, Gandini design insights and Iain pulling off a Matt Monro cover - amazing!
This is the best RUclips video of all time
THE muira from the Italian job !
I’m in the alps right now, in chamonix not too far from where that was filmed .
I’m not allowed to watch it as I’m out with the mrs ,
but rest assured when we get back to the camper , I still won’t be allowed to watch it 😂
Wow , I passed comment before I had actually watched the video .
Superb, can’t believe he took it back to Gandini !!
I watched this video after I make sure that my time is relaxing time with afternoon tea because this is a proper way to watch his videos
This was emotional.
An emergence of art in so many forms.
Thank You.
Matt Munro would have been proud of your singing Iain. One of my favourite movies of all time - The Italian Job . Get to drive the Miura and talk to the maestro, Mr. Gandini himself. Great video! Can't ask for more! Cheers mate!
Iain Tyrrell is becoming 'The Most Interesting Man In The World'.
ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL
2 absolute geniuses and your rendition of days likes these amazing what a voice Ian
Very special indeed.
The best channel on RUclips. Talented man, can even sing. Always a pleasure to watch these videos.
