On the handle that doesn’t have the remote on it, pull the rubber out (where the remote is on the other handle) and you’ll see a hex key, use that to slide the MagSafe mount over. This will make the 0.5 and 5x on the iPhone 15 Pro Max work fine and the 1x lens will be fine if you slightly twist your phone, so it’s not quite level, or leave it level and zoom in in post a little, to remove the minor vignette. Still not ideal of course.
Good review. My kit just arrived this afternoon. Bought the identical kit for my iPhone 16 pro max. Hope to film with greater manual control because the side handles makes it so much easier. Also love the (optional) SSD in the handle for direct recording.
You’re the first person I watched on YT to point out the off centering of the phone on the mag-safe with IPhone. If it’s slide over, will the phone still be level with the cage? Wouldn’t want to compensate for off centering while shooting or in post. Thank You!
Depends on how you attach it to the cage. There is no safety to align the phone and the case. I always use the clips to be sure and to use the 3 lenses.
My questions… how easy is it to use with external lenses? Does the magnetic filter mount only work with Smallrig filters? Does the SSD enclosure require external power? Any heat issues with the SSD enclosure? That’s what I’d like to see answered in a review.
I am putting together a Frankenstein rig together to shoot video on my 16 pro max while it’s mounted in the hot shoe of my 1DX Mark iii for stills. But id love to be able to zoom a little as I pan and follow the action. I seen one video where the person actually zoomed but on the phones video not an app. So I ordered the handle alone $65 to see if it’ll zoom my video. 3:23
A few people are saying that the MagSafe is not lining up with the filter but I see a thumbscrew on the filter mount where you can slide the filter mount up and down so your phone sits perfectly level, is that right?
@ Looking at the review section on the small rig website, it looks like small rig is acknowledging that because it’s a universal cage that you can use only the MagSafe OR use the clip and line up with the filter mount but not both.

***Update*** The controller does not in fact control the zoom. Only video stop start / camera shutter. Back it goes to Amazon.

No, it’s not possible. You can only move it up and down, but not to the center of the cage.

En wat wil je draadloos verbinden? De harde schijf moet via de USB-C aansluiting verbinden worden en dat kan alleen met het kabeltje
Im pretty sure this specific bundle is made for iphone 15 pro max. thats why i didnt even consider it since i dont like the max versions.
No, this is a bundle made for all kind of smartphones. They also have phone specific bundles but they do not have as much accessoiries in the box.
