@@christianbugatticg I try my best. Growing up in Brooklyn NY (Live in Freehold NJ now), my dad always had Caddys. So did my brothers. So did I lol. My first car was a 1978 Coupe de Ville d'elegance, white exterior, white Cabriolet roof, and burgundy velour interior. It had every option including factory 8 track with CB, true Caddy spoke wheels (not hub caps), chrome accent strip (instead of the pinstripe), dual power 50/50 seats, etc. It was our neighbors car and when he decided to sell, he asked my parents if they wanted to buy it for me.

That car is absolutely stunning. Holy 8.2 liter V8 Batman ;) You really have some good connections to get your hands on these beautiful cars. Me again lol... in case you don't already know, the fiber optic fender lights (plus the rear brake and turn signal above the back glass viewable in the rear view mirror, if equipped) are called "vigil lights". The exterior lighted door locks (if equipped) is fiber optic cable driven as well, but not part of the vigil light system. There is usually a fiber optic cable driven washer fluid level warning as well. (A little green or red light lights up by the wiper switch when the washer is activated. I think the parking lights have to be on though but I'm not sure. I'll find out and get back. Those old Delco radios almost never fail like that. If you get static and no FM reception, I'll bet the antenna wire/cable is not connected somewhere along the line. The power antenna mast cable is a notorious failure item and the power antenna has to be removed from the car and repaired on a bench. Some of those antennas are so tightly packed/hidden/crammed in the fender well that the coax connection is easy to get wrong. I don't know for sure for 1976 (definitely for sure in 1977), but the power antenna should go up and down on its own when the radio is turned on/off, even if it has a a dashboard mounted antenna switch. I think the switch was so you could override the radio and lower the antenna to go through a car wash or under a garage door or parking garage low spots. Since it didn't work on its own, I'm guessing somebody worked on it and missed a connection or 2 or didn't understand how it is supposed to work. The antenna relay should be under the glove box, or in the passenger kick panel, and the coax should run right by it through the A pillar and into the fender well with/near the 3 antenna wires. Shine a flashlight through the passenger door jam, you might have to nudge a baffle out of the way to get a glimpse of the antenna connections. Make sure the coax is attached and not just hanging there. I know you don't want to pull the radio out, but the connections for it (standardized GM radio bus connectors by 76) are highly suspect because of the no reception/no auto antenna symptoms, and I'm willing to bet someone worked on it already. I'd be happy to do it for ya if I was nearby, just for the chance to help preserve this car and make the user experience as luxurious as Cadillac meant for it to be. :)
HEY! Welcome back and thank you again for sharing your vast knowledge!! And I appreciate the offer but this baby is leaving already in the next day or two!!
@@christianbugatticg For the record, I didn't expect that you'd be interested in letting some guy from the interwebs hack open the dashboard on one of your pristine cars just because he volunteered. Lol Plus it's been a year or 40 since I've worked on a Cadillac of this class, so I'm a tad rusty, and I'm not removing a fender on that car to get at the antenna (not that I know it would be needed, but some do require fender well removal like the downsized B, C and D Body cars made the next year in 1977). And I'm glad that you were able to arrange for the car to be adopted by its next caretaker to enjoy and preserve so the caretaker after that will have something to work with. ;) Plus that car is only a caretaker or 2 away from surviving longer than the people with 1st hand experience with it when it was fresh.
@@christianbugatticg Well, I could rule out the easy stuff (wiring, relay, antenna) and break some 4.5 decade old plastic part in the dash as well as the next guy, but I appreciate the vote of confidence. :) I'll look forward to the next video of a stunning survivor GM battle Cruiser of that era. :) I sure wish my plan of hitting the lottery has worked out so I could take those machines off your hands. ;)
My only complaint about the 76 DeVille's and Fleetwood's (and the 1975) is the brake lights are in the lip of the trunk and not inside the vertical tail fins where they should be. I don't know what the designers were thinking! I remember in the 70's those stupid aftermarket alarms would have key holes in the front fenders.
I have a 74 Cadillac Coupe DeVille 74, it was my dads. He bought it brand new, it has 41K green with white interior. It's been sitting way too long I plan on getting it out of the garage this spring.
That Cadillac got me out of trouble when I was in junior high school . There was a convenience store near the school and I was told by my father not to go in there but I did anyway to buy a candy bar and some chips and when I came out my father ,who hardly ever picked me up after school ,saw me come out of there and I got yelled at about it and I felt I got off lucky and as we drove away I found out why .We went to the local Cadillac dealership to pick up a new 1976 Cadillac Coupe DeVille similar to that one.

I normally bash the shit out of Cadillac for all the clunkers of this period, but this thing is beautiful. I remember these fondly. It's the length of that rear fender that kills me. From the door to the taillights is the longest expanse of sheetmetal.

@@oldsguy354 Lol, thanks! You are probably more than capable of doing it!!
@@christianbugatticg Well, I could rule out the easy stuff (wiring, relay, antenna) and break some 4.5 decade old plastic part in the dash as well as the next guy, but I appreciate the vote of confidence. :)
I'll look forward to the next video of a stunning survivor GM battle Cruiser of that era. :) I sure wish my plan of hitting the lottery has worked out so I could take those machines off your hands. ;)
I learned how to drive in a red 1975 couple deville at 14
Nice!!
Nobody is perfect.
Beautiful classic, last of the 8.2/500 engines.
Thanks!
Absolutely gorgeous . . . & so is that beautiful Caddy!! 👍🔥😜
Thanks!
@@christianbugatticg cheers buddy. 😁
@@cadz4me Yes Sir!
My ‘75 was a great car to be seen in, and the ‘76 was even better. Subtle refinements made it really special.
For sure!
Back when cars were truly comfortable👍 Today’s ads speak of comfort but every modern car has seats made out of concrete.
True!
I have a 74 Cadillac Coupe DeVille 74, it was my dads. He bought it brand new, it has 41K green with white interior. It's been sitting way too long I plan on getting it out of the garage this spring.
Enjoy it!
That's a beauty.
Thanks! Too big for your garage, still??
@@christianbugatticg garage is still packed full of crap so no room for it.
@@seand2711 get cracking buddy! That stuff won't throw itself away
@@christianbugatticg I need some muscles to help clear it out.
@@seand2711 I work for free with purchase of any pre 1980's car!! HAHAHA!
Lol! Did we ever really listen??
All both of the power windows work?! Wow!
Yes
Love that these cars are making a strong comeback sadly that doesn't make em any cheaper.
I know, they are getting more expensive.
Oh my goodness it's GORGEOUS!
Thank you!
Is there an option on your website to just look at the classic cars inventory?!!!! I can never find one, so all I see are newer vehicles.
Hello! So yes, my business model is a bit different on these. Since I only typically sell these classics on Bring a Trailer, I don't advertise them on my site. You are always welcome to call to go over upcoming cars on BAT!! Sorry, that just seems the easiest way to sell them. Thanks!
Eh, that's all right, @@christianbugatticg. I was just wondering.
@@landyachtfan79 I try to simplify things. I know other people have asked the same question. But seriously, call anytime if I have anything you see on RUclips that you may have questions about.
Amazing!
Thanks!
How sweet it is!!!
Yes indeed!
It may be a relay that controls the radio and clock. I recall I had that problem with my 1989 Mercedes 300SE I had formerly owned. Cadillac and Mercedes have their differences. In any event, nice car I had a friend that owned the same Cadillac and cruised me in it in 1985. My Best, M.L.
Hey thank you for that!
I'd like to know how many bodies can fit in the trunk. Thank you.
Lol! Probably a bunch!!
Now THIS is what a Cadillac IS!!!!
It is a shame what Cadillac has become!
Nice, I had one just like it in 1983, mine was silver w/red interior. I do not believe they had cats on them at that time
Ahhh pretty sure by 76 they all had cats....
@@christianbugatticg I disagree, the EC systems were totally different then
@@basictechreviews ok
I got to drive my parents occasionally. I was only a teenager
I bet that was fun!
Beautiful car!!! Do you know where to find parts for that 76 as far as chrome trim and steering wheel and inside door panels etc..
I normally just jump on the internet and google the parts I need at any given time. Good luck!
Beautiful car!!
Yes indeed!
Very nice
Thanks! New owner loves it!
handsome car. that will be worth a LOT of money in 1976.
Yes it was
I normally bash the shit out of Cadillac for all the clunkers of this period, but this thing is beautiful. I remember these fondly. It's the length of that rear fender that kills me. From the door to the taillights is the longest expanse of sheetmetal.
Thanks!!!
Love it!
Thanks!!
Where do you find these vehicles? Another fantastic example.
Thanks Dave!! Lots and lots of luck!
What is this car worth? Not the selll price but the comoarative markeg price. Price guidance helps in attracting interest.
This is why I just put them up for auction... the market decides. Thanks!
@@christianbugatticg Maybe profile what they sold for in the auction.

Those guys and gals in Detroit had something to be proud of rolling off the assembly line back then. Very little plastic bs.
