  • After receiving a repair estimate from a mechanic that amounted to over $11,000 I decided to tackle the job myself and save money. I was able to replace a faulty backup sensor on my 2015 Audi Q5 for thousands less than I was quoted and now my backup camera works again! I think this same repair would work for any model of Audi and Volkswagen cars and SUV's. Follow along as I walk through step-by-step how to easily repair the backup sensor while saving money in the process.

I have a Bad Sensor somewhere on my Q5. Is the Only way to find out which is bad is to use the VAG COM? Or is there another way to figure out which ones bad.

so if a sensor is bad , that also stops the camera from working ?

That is correct. The backup camera hasn't worked since I had the rear bumper repainted. The sensor itself was broken so I replaced it with a used one the same color from ebay and now the reverse camera is working again!

How can they expect $11k for that??

The quote from the mechanic included a lot of work for the total of $11k. While I agree that's astronomical, they are quoting book hours and OEM parts. I am able to save a whole bunch with aftermarket/used parts in this case and no labor costs. Thank you for watching!
