This Luxurious Lodges Is One Best-Kept Secrets In England
The Calthwaite Hall Lodges are part of the exclusive Bouja Luxury Boutique Breaks Collection, a place where you can truly enjoy cabin vacation rentals in a unique setting amidst the stunning grounds of Calthwaite Hall in Cumbria’s Eden Valley. The wood cabins are close to Penrith and boast immaculate lawns and paddocks home to birds, Falabella ponies, and wildlife with this is a luxurious escape being one of England’s best-kept secrets. History meets sleek contemporary sophistication in these elegant cabin buildings that are complete with all the style you’d expect to compliment an English country home design.
The wood cabins have high-spec touches that lend home-from-home comfort with the outdoor hot tubs that complete the relaxing picture which is perfect for looking up at the starry skies or spotting a visiting peacock. The wood cabins are surrounded by some of the most beautiful grounds you'll find anywhere else, so nice that you can spend your holiday without having to go far, and enjoy all that there is to see right out your front door.
The wood cabins are just a short stroll away from Calthwaite and its excellent local pub, while the beautiful surrounding countryside plays host to several traditional towns and ancient sandstone villages. Brougham Castle has great bars, inns, and restaurants, with the renowned Rheged Centre and plenty of caves, fells, and waterfalls that are close by. Ullswater is just 12 miles away. During your stay, you'll receive a pamper pack with complimentary chocolates, wine, coffee, tea, milk, bread, and crisps.
Another popular attraction in this part of the country is the Holeshird Gardens that are located just a mile north of the Windermere town. The Holehird Gardens is a demonstration garden and the seat of the Lakeland Horticultural society. This beautiful garden has plants that do well in the Lake District’s stony soils, damp climate, and stony soils and has Alpine houses, with rock and heather gardens and a walled garden that is known for its herbaceous borders. Thomas Mawson was also involved in the gardens at the end of the 19th century when he enlarged the Walled Garden, which had originally been built-in 1870. There are also national collections of Polystichum ferns, hydrangeas, and astilbes, along with an array of rhododendrons and azaleas. The view from Holehird Gardens is said to be one of the best in Lakeland. In the 1890s Beatrix Potter was a regular at the Holehird House, which is now used by a healthcare charity.
Another site to see in this location is the Hill Top which dates back to the 1600s and was bought as a writing retreat in 1906. At Bowness-on-Windermere, you can catch a ferry across the lake to Far Sawrey on the west shore. From there it’s only a simple walk, drive or bike ride to this National Trust Property and the former home of Beatrix Potter. The historic house has been kept as Potter would have remembered it, even reproducing the same wallpaper that she put up when she moved in.
