Predators take big bite out of declining Atlantic mackerel population

  • Predators ate at least twice as many Atlantic mackerel as commercial fishery landings in the decade leading up to Canada's region-wide moratorium, according to new research by Canadian and American scientists. As CBC's Paul Withers reports, the federal government is expected to extend the moratorium on commercial mackerel fishing in 2024 for a third year.

    The white colonial way of fishing is very parasitic - does anyone else notice that? It's like inviting the cartoon character Pig Pen into your once healthy environment.
