I have never heard of Supreme. From an outsider’s perspective it reminds me of a MAGA hat. If they did a collab with Trump I think it would be a red box that says WHITE SUPREME.
Tbh, Gandhi says the exact opposite in his private letters to Franklin Roosevelt, supporting black people. So, he isn't as well studied as you might think. It's almost as though Gandhi was trying to make any friends as he can for his own cause, independence. Utilising British hatred for blacks, and Roosevelt's sympathy for blacks, by whatever means he could, for his own agenda. He even tells of the indian government for fighting pakistan, despite pakistan starting the war. gandhi confused everybody, the guy was clearly not rational.
Morality≠Rationality In any case.. If history is in fact a real science, and not a glorified-pseudoscience: The consensus is that he came around to his anti-blackness during later years in South Africa. Also, I understand that while it may be convenient to solely blame "the Britishers": But I'm not sure that the Dutch( Afrikaner people), even when they were long dethroned by his time, were not influential in expressing their hatred of the indigenous, majority populace° - either, "@@BallyBoy95". °Which is different from what's mostly considered the "brown people" of India, _i.e._ the backyard of Late "Nelson Mandela of India" itself. The brown people of the subcontinent are thousands of years old migrants from Central Asia. And the actual indigenous-populace of India is dubbed "Scheduled Tribes" in Legalese.
And yet.. Folks like Black American Mr Whoopi Goldberg, who not just hob-nobbed with a Blackface-donning white male celeb.. ...But even made that the former segregationist in President Joseph "Joe" Biden ended apartheid: “That's what Joe Biden did.” Continue getting away with such internalised racism.
The uncertain laughter/gasps when he mentions SA gets me. They're preparing the right reaction to a possible joke about racism (because that's the only thing SA is known for)... as he eyeballs the audience to see how many (or few) actually get the ghandi connection. Funny.
Sa is known for a few things like racism, xenophobia, rapes, taxi violence and some weapons and armoured vehicles and the first successful heart transplant the whole Ghandi thing is only mentioned in a history textbook paragraph talking about Indians in the history of my country South Africa I haven't seen or heard or read anything about Indians because most people here just don't care there more afraid about some coming race war between the whites and blacks tho only politicians are calling for sutch actions most people really just don't care

It is something that I've been beating the drum about for many, many years, particularly around fashion trends and deriving "identity" from clothing /accoutrements, or believing that "identity" is expressed through outward appearance, or that "identity" is a meaningful pursuit. Maybe we are starting to realize and even acknowledge that the drop-down menu of "identity" is sometimes designed by people who don't give a crap about us, and instead is done to fulfill agendas of control.
I saw all those products behind him on the screen-- the crowbar, the bolt cutters, the brick-- and naturally I thought his graphics department made those up. Then he started introducing them individually. 😐 What is this life. BUT, by the end, I definitely wanted a Barbara Kruger logo t-shirt.

When hassan is conducting an interview his face looks like hes holding a joke lmao
They said it best on the "Incredibles"
"When everyone's special, nobody is"
So fresh. So clean. Hasan Minhaj.
I have never heard of Supreme. From an outsider’s perspective it reminds me of a MAGA hat. If they did a collab with Trump I think it would be a red box that says WHITE SUPREME.
Jeremy Byington I literally lol'd 😂😂
Ha please don't put that in the universe
I only saw a sticker on somebody's laptop that said Supreme and I didn't know what it meant until now.
hah!! "white supreme"...wonderful my friend, just wonderful.
The brand actually hates Trump and has releases statements /clothes denouncing him and his policies lol
I actually want his Supreme shirt at the end that says "Corporation" lol.
Hurry up and get then!
went to the online site 24 mins after the episode released and it was already sold out. #Hype
They're ALL soldout
they were never sold lol it's a joke. it just says sold out
i need one that says clusterfuck
That guy rapping about Carlisle has less flow than the last day of my period.
OMG....Dat is the meanest thing to say to a rapper
I googled Gandhi South Africa and now I'm sad.
Awesome episode... love how layered some of the jokes are... and how he isn't scared of certain topics (Here's looking at you Gandhi + South Africans)
Morality≠Rationality
In any case..
And yet..
Folks like Black American Mr Whoopi Goldberg, who not just hob-nobbed with a Blackface-donning white male celeb..
...But even made that the former segregationist in President Joseph "Joe" Biden ended apartheid: “That's what Joe Biden did.”
Continue getting away with such internalised racism.
@@gidi3250 So, there is no fight going on between the Indians and the other races?
@@leesteal4458 that would be very hard to find since most political extremists are urging for the two largest colors to wipe the smaller one out. Recently in my area there's been a few people pretending to be cops and shooting people and stealing stuff the last fight I heard and saw where an Indian guy was involved was when a Indian guy and a Pakistani were arguing about being the better phone repair shop and getting more money than the other one

Hasan, is there any possibility of you covering the Dolce & Gabbana's racist marketing campaign video in China and the insulting Instagram conversation?

me too but i'm 22 lol.
but that shit whack, so no worries.
That's probably because you are out of touch. I am 28 and I feel this information is stale.
I'm 39 and just learned about Supreme and why I shouldn't care about it
i rocked supreme in 2000-2002. i stopped when i saw moms in line buying it for their 12 year olds and telling me to put my blunt out. i still have them shirts and hoodies. probably sell it to some 12 year olds.

Your show is so well-referenced, I would love it if you would share those. I've binge watched them all after discovering them late in the season. As an older person not familiar with pop culture, I need a "cheat sheet" to keep up. Fortunately, your humor goes beyond any references I might not understand. I'll have to watch multiple times and look up the things I don't understand so I can laugh again only the next time as someone in on the joke. Great work. I really need these intelligent laughs.
I was not fan of Hasan when he was in The Daily Show. But this kid has bloomed in his own show..good job!
This consumer culture makes supremely sick.
i know i tried to buy the shirts and they are all sold out
Ayyyyyy I see what you did there.
That thing about what hiphop culture means to Indian people 🤣

Most hypebeasts who've grown up (since Supreme was at it's height about a decade ago) have moved on to other, more understated brands like Stone Island, Arc'teryx, Alyx, Aime Leon Dore, Stussy etc.
The funny thing about Supreme is how easy it is to make a fake copy of the brand merch as long as it isn't a brick with the logo indented on the surface. We have like 20$ Supreme pullover and shirts in South Korea and there's no official Supreme store here.
I simply love you and your show, Hasan ! You inspire me.
Your biggest fan from Tunisia.
( It's in North Africa, in case you don't know where Tunisia is )
" But im the brown one " 😂😂😂
It is something that I've been beating the drum about for many, many years, particularly around fashion trends and deriving "identity" from clothing /accoutrements, or believing that "identity" is expressed through outward appearance, or that "identity" is a meaningful pursuit. Maybe we are starting to realize and even acknowledge that the drop-down menu of "identity" is sometimes designed by people who don't give a crap about us, and instead is done to fulfill agendas of control.
2008: Ed Hardy
2018: Supreme
2028: ?
oh yeah Ed Hardy! where’s that now?
I saw all those products behind him on the screen-- the crowbar, the bolt cutters, the brick-- and naturally I thought his graphics department made those up. Then he started introducing them individually.
😐 What is this life.
BUT, by the end, I definitely wanted a Barbara Kruger logo t-shirt.

i just wanna say, i found this show 3 days ago, and i found you from scrolling through comedy binges. but i have not played my games for the last 3 days, i turn on my p.c i log into my game and then open YT and end up watching this show for 2 hours lol. Meaning ive spent 20-25 mins 17 different times. All of them were not only funny but very interesting and prompted me to want to get more involved and watch the news and PAY ATTENTION. Hype is not new.,.. Can you say 'Apple'? -- Sure ya can!
That was a myth. Don't know how it is today but it used to be that the appeal for Apple is it just works. Unlike Windows that constantly needs maintenance. Now I don't know about their ridiculously priced phones but their computers were always miles above the Windows pc.
@@IMSiegfried computers deserve the hype for ease of use but the phones hype is just that, hype.
