Impressive slide work!!!! I've never done repair work, but I've been playing trombone for almost 50 years. While I was watching the repair part of the video I was thinking "he's handling, testing the slide just the way I would...the way an experienced trombonist would".
1090yoyo the lower inner tube was a raw nickel replaced tube that was held in place, come to find out with 3 sleeves. It was also undersized so it leaked air terribly. Raw nickel was the old way slides were made, all modern slides are chrome plated. I replaced with OEM chrome plated slide that was made for that model.
1090yoyo I can imagine 30 years ago that whoever “needed” it for the game on Friday, and that’s what the tech had lying about. It wasn’t hack work per se, just the wrong size/type tube that concerned customer. Finding the 3 sleeves was pretty funny to me.
Absolutely beautiful results! Wow! 🥲😁👍🏻
Impressive craftsmanship! Incredible attention to detail!
Like magic. Awesome to see your process, thanks for sharing!
Love seeing Wes hold the torch with his pinky finger while holding the slide! Multitasking!
Beautiful work!!! And such care! Thank you for posting this restoration.

WOW!!!
If I understand well, you had to replace the inner tube because it was a collection of sleeves ?

An undersized trombone slide rail... Who the hell has this kind of idea...
