  • Jaguar E-Pace (not to be confused with the upcoming electric i-Pace) is a compact premium crossover, which competes against Audi Q3, BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLA or Volvo XC40. Jaguar F-Pace's smaller brother turns heads. This particular car is in First Edition trim, which has only two engines to choose from. I was issued Jaguar E-Pace with a 2-litre turbocharged 249 hp motor.

    I have E pace and Tiguan. Both 2,0, both benzin. The only what I like better in Tiguan is very light and soft stearing. In E pace it is heavier, all the rest as comfort, fastness etc. All better in E pace

    I-Pace is a pretty car, just a shame about the distance you can do and the price at the moment.

    @Marek Drives is this a fwd bias or RWD bias drivetrain like the F Pace? Thank you

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 6 лет назад +2

      It's FWD-biased, but fees RWD-biased, when you push it.

    I believe that this is a variation of the Range Rover Evoque and Discovery Sport. The automatic, unless I'm very much mistaken, is the same ZF 9 speed unit used in the above plus things like the Jeep Cherokee and maybe the Mini. Different software perhaps? The reason it is heavy is because the chassis is based on the FreelanderII which itself is a variation used by previous Ford and Volvo vehicles, but best check that out for accuracy.
    The four wheel drive system is a GKN design [not the previously used Haldex system of the FreelanderII and VW and Volvo. The GKN unit, as I understand it, has neither a centre or rear differential, just clutch packs that partially or fully lock to provide drive to back wheels and either back wheel as indicated by various sensors and transmission control unit [computer].
    Pity that the car is so heavy, lacking in aluminium body parts, unlike vehicles further up the JLR range.

    I don’t know if should get an e pace or a vw atlas cross sport I live in Canada and can’t decide wich one fits better in the city and snow drive ability

    • @MarekDrivesENG
      @MarekDrivesENG  Месяц назад

      Both of them have on-demand automatic AWD, so I'd focus on getting proper winter tires. Also, AFAIR the Atlas is a much larger car.

    The E pace is gorgeous in my opinion, but as you pointed out, it seems to be overpriced as the F pace is. I think Jag thinks they are still the top of the heap, which they are not. The F pace interior was fine but it seemed to be outclassed by it's competition. The GLA for me wouldn't even be on my list. It's really awkward looking, teetering on ugly. Anyways, great review Marek, even our new kitten looked up when he heard that meow haha

    Nice review Marek (shame the steering wheel is on the wrong side though). Re - overtaking; are flappy paddles an option? I opted for this on my V40 so I could change down for a fast overtake. Have you seen the crash test for the E-Pace, particularly the Pole test (no pun intended)? Fatal impact by the looks of it at only 32kmph. I've seen Polish driving first hand on my way to Krakow (I was a passenger though), and the aftermath of a horrendous crash. Not as bad as Russian driving I know but still scary at times. English roads are some of the safest in the world because we drive on the right side..... which is the Left. 😁 A Danish girlfriend told me that this is because most people are right eye dominant so it's better to drive on the left. A Polish friend told me that you can bribe the examiner to pass the test over there. Don't know if this is true though?

    • @MarekDrives
      @MarekDrives 6 лет назад

      Situation on Polish roads is much better now, than it was 20 years ago. After the transformation we started importing cars from the West, and everyone suddenly had twice the horsepower, but commie-car driving skills. Since then we've upgraded, companies trained people, authorities have put up speed cameras, we've seen dozens of preventive campaigns. So it's better, than it used to be.
      That said, Poles have a very loose approach to law. Basically 60 km/h speed limit means 80-90 is OK. As of recently exceeding the speed limit by 50 (sic!) km/h in urban areas is punished by suspending your license for 3 months (6 months the second time, and revoking your license permanently the third time). But that's 50 ABOVE the legal limit, and someone has to catch you first.
      As far as bribing examiners is concerned, it still happens, but rarely. They have cameras installed in exam cars these days, so it's too risky.

    Great review as ever. I have to say I love the look for the car....however, the interior looks cheap compared to rivals, the motors are falling behind the best and boy is it expensive. Sadly, not for me....and I love Jags!

    Just test drived a F-Pace, last week. The Jag was about 7 month old, and plastics on the dashboard were already making helluvalot of noises as if i was driving a soviet Lada.Unbelievable for a car of that price.I'd rather go for a Bimmer, even if it's dull.

      Pffff, that's childish, dude.I just shared my personnal experience with a recent Jag.I happen to drive a dozen cars a year, the Jag was just one of them.And i as i said before, i had quite a bad feeling for the future of the model i drived, as it sounded like it was poorly assembled. Apart of it, i'll admit it was quite a nice car to drive and it looks pretty good.

    its a missed.. how can jaguar propose a car in 2018 with such as outrageous weight (same as F pace !), all handling chapters are impacted, and interior does not have the british flair that should help to overcome these weaknesses.. for same price, i would stick to the old but restyled evoke, if in the group, more competitive, comfy..or look elsewhere. too bad jaguar ! and real pitty, with 200 kg less, would have been different car ! (not to say that the tax impact of such weight and emission figure disqualify it in our markets.

      The platform is rather old but will get replaced. In the meantime, there was a need for a compact SUV to compete with the rivals. Drive one and see for yourself, it's not that bad actually.

      Mit 150 PS wirst du keine Freude haben. Ich bin ihn sowie auch den XE mit der 180PS Version gefahren. Sehr unkultivierter Lauf, der Motor fühlt sich ständig überfordert an. Bei 150PS stell ich mir das noch um ein Stück schlimmer vor. Leider ist Jaguar mit seinen 4 Zylinder Ingenium Motor kein gutes Aggregat gelungen.

    • @Squilliam-Fancyson
      @Squilliam-Fancyson 6 лет назад

      Michael Friess Ja kommt hin. Im XE brauchte ich 6,2l bei normaler Fahrweise. Nat. ist der E Pace etwas schwerer als der XE
