  • It took over a year to finish and share this video.
I wanted to make sure I shared the reality of every step of becoming a doctor.
    Thanks for watching, always ❤️

EM PGY3. I feel every aspect of your video. The highs and lows are insane in residency. Sometimes to the point I've felt unhinged with how many emotions I can experience in a day. It can be incredibly hard to push through, and you're right, it's a systems thing. Instead of residents not talking about it, I think it's important that we do. There's more compassion we can give when we know we aren't alone in our experience, and hopefully once it's all over, we can remember these moments to empathize, encourage, and try and find ways to make training (even slightly) better for the residents after us.

Thank you so much for sharing. I used to think it was just me or that I wasn’t t cut out for this field. I hope the rest of your year gets easier and wish you nothing but the best 🤍

You can't be a good doctor unless you go through literal hell. I remember my lowest point in intern was on my second ICU rotation. I've never been that low emotionally in my life besides maybe during my PhD. Yet, I learned the most valuable lesson: you are patient number one. If you can't heal yourself or know when to get help, you can't do that for anyone else. It's a lesson that changed everything for me.

Salam! It's great to see you doing well now! I have been following you since your first video is posted - time flies! I was going to do med school but I decided to opt out for nursing and now I am soon going to be working in emerg! May Allah swt keep you and your family content and grant you all the highest Jannah-tul Firdaus!

Yes, sister! Appreciate the realness. Yes, we can shift our mindset and also sometimes things suck. I’m a social worker and feel the same way…love my work, and it is hard and it sucks sometimes. Stay strong! 🤙🏽

Its so nice to hear from you 🥹 I am one of your youtube family member since maybe the first video. We are at same year and I understand you fully sis! I’m a resident in Turkiye and systems are sooo different but the feeling is same. I’m also the only doctor of the night and whatever comes in that door, its my patient! Sometimes trauma, sometimes traffic accident, and one time labour 😅 When the shift ends Im like “Wow how do they give me that much responsibility, Im a doctor for only 6 months!” And yeah youre right, we get in the lowest point before going up. I dreamed about patients for months and felt like I was not enough. Anybody struggiling about being a doctor out there, it does get better! ❤
