She acts to the back of the house which is to say that wants the person on the last row of the balcony to see what she is doing on stage. Too many opera singers just act to the camera which leaves the live experience lacking. Diana thankfully doesn’t do that.
Not at all, she made a short pause that is not usually made because she realized she went a bit too far when throwing the glass away and may have hit something. The thing is that Damrau is very histrionic when performing, and more so if the character fits, and in this case one could say her Violetta is highly inebriated while singing this final cabaletta and acts as a drunk person.
@@alejandrotm Wait, why are we so sure this wasn’t part of the production? Has something been said about it? This sort of thing isn’t really done off the cuff, afaik, and I imagine that especially applies to the destruction of a prop in a way that could hurt someone _and_ that would require someone to be on it pronto to pick up shards of glass and dry up the floor before someone gets injured. And it’s not like Damrau’s a newbie who doesn’t know how far she can take improv. Also, the hesitation 100% makes sense in character. A moment where Violetta can’t help but acknowledge she’s lying to herself about her emotions before forcing herself to put the mask back on. For some, it happens sooner than others. Diana most likely still had the E flat at the time of this performance, but likely chose not to sing it because it wouldn’t have sounded very good. Sorry. An overrated singer.
She struggles with repeated A's. Why do audiences often glorify such mediocre singers?
as always diana shows off her ease of agility and high notes (even if tradition would like the E flat at the end) but no big deal, verdi had not written it. the real problem of many non-italian singers is the absolute lack of context and the right intention of the song, here I find little, maybe nothing, of the TRUE violetta valery written by verdi
Плохое , неуклюжее пение ! Альфред- хорош!
horrible
Not exquisite singing.
Very disappointing coming from a coloratura! Maybe she was really drunk during the performance 🤔
No. Listen to Roberta Peters sing it. That's true coloratura!
Awful, Awful, Awful
why???????
