This covers Dawnstar, Winterhold, Falkreath, Morthal and Solitude. These shots were all captured from past projects at 60fps using Unreal’s built-in take recorder with DOF turned off at the Cinematic quality preset. DLAA was used for anti-aliasing.
Thanks for this upload to RUclips. Very chill video. I'm definately gonna watch this again later while putting on Young Scrolls at the same time for music accompaniment.
I swear I would love to either see you or perhaps just someone in general take this concept and genuinely make it the case and just totally overhaul Skyrim from the ground up basically doing a sky oblivion but for Skyrim and doing it just flat out in unreal 5 so that there's the actual tools to make that genuinely this large without any issues thanks to the serious optimizations of the unreal 5 engine...
I'm hoping that before I die, RPGs will allow us to do this in this type of detail. Just imagine walking through a city of this size, while the snow or rain falls down around us. Here's to dreaming.
The graphical technology allows this kind of detail for quite some time already, the bigger problem for actually good games is to fill a world like this with meaningful gameplay. There have been lots of showcases like this in the past decade, even before UE5 and even from big studios, but none of them went to become actual "games". A huge city looks amazing, but how does it actually feel when you play it is determined by the elements that are interactable or "alive" in it. How would you create a game that feels as full with content as Skyrim, with every building having an interior and interactions at this size?
Skyrim will never die. Hell, everyone who played it back in 2011 knew that. It might have aged, but the open world that you explore is captivating and unmatched to this day.
Even though it looks so different to the original Skyrim, at least in terms of graphics, it still has that classic skyrim feeling. Also, Falkreath and Winterhold took my breath away. I've always wished Winterhold, in particular, had more substance to it - I mean, in the lore, it used to be a major capital! Yet, Skyrim (the game) doesn't reflect that at all. Your previous video on Winterhold really did it proper justice. Amazing work, as always. Thank you so much for putting in so many hours into making these videos. I'm actually referring to them for my OC lore to really get a scale of the world she lives in.
Modders have done great things with Skyrim, but are held back by its game engine limitations. Hopefully they start using UE5 at some point and lift Skyrim's game mechanics/assets over.
@@chrisw7047 The problem is Bethesda are held back by the same limitations. They sat on their laurels for far too long after Skyrim and now their engine design is veeeeery dated, which was why Starfield sucked. I remember thinking the engine was showing it's age when Fallout 4 came out. They've even resorted to ripping off the Skyblivion fan project which has been running for over a decade for a quick cash in. When you look at what developers like Hello Games are proposing with Light No Fire (just their engine capabilities, physics, water, flight, aside from the progen stuff) any fantasy game Bethesda put out with their current engine is going to look very dated. Moving to Unreal 5 would seriously improve Bethesda's chances of producing a quality game that isn't horribly hampered by the limitations of their old engine.
@@thomaskelly393 agreed, they need to just hand over the game to the modding community and stop releasing updates, it's not like the game will ever die, tons of people still play morrowind and oblivion
If I have one complaint, it's the camera position. While having a character on screen for reference is nice, having the camera behind and a little lower than the character blocks a lot of the view of the landscape. Maybe a closer trailing camera over a shoulder around head height would work better to give scale as well, rather than looking like the First Person PoV of a kid following their mother.
The snow particles, the way the aurora reflects off the snow on the ground, the detail of the flames, Azura's statue, just WOW. The flora is gorgeous down to the moss overtaking the paths, the bird sounds and an _actual bird_ flying past... the texture on the buildings and the _lighting_ !! Rain and mud! Realistic stall set up! The avatar is nice to look at, too. This is gorgeous, and I would love to see more. Shared! If you ever decide to do an Elder Scrolls story animated in Unreal, I would very much be down to watch something like that. Thoughts on doing The Shivering Isles?
Dude... I legit cried here. Walking through these beautiful places, seeing the game I love under a whole new light, and with this soundtrack... God Almighty... May each tear I shed watching this be a tribute to your amazing work, and a prayer for more beauty and poetry to come out of it! PS: Would love to know the specific song for the Dawnstar bit, it's so soothing!
That is really good man ! How ever i find the roads too flat especially on the villages, you shoul add more relief on the ground. Though the ambiance is masterpiece.
Everything looks great Torres! You did a good job. How much time does it usually take you to create each region like this? DOF is a good camera trick, but with it turned off, it still looks good. I think having fog in the distance adds a sense of realism.
Always amazed with the overviews but i feel you don't get to experiance the citys from above, I much prefer the more ground level shots. I'd love to see a video talking about your work flow, the amount of content your able to output is outstanding. The buildings are modular yes but do you hand place each one or use some kind of generation? Edit: I would also be curious as to how much of the scene is bespoke and how much is purchased kit bash sets. Consistency of art style is always a challage with enviroments on this scale when using meshes from multiple packs.
I want this to be the actual full game!!! I'm a Skyrim Diehard. My friends still don't get it. But they don't play on PC with it all modded out (yes... Skyrim is solely responsible for turning me into one of those "PC gaming is better" jerks, I couldn't stand growing up. lol). I have thousands of hours in Skyrim. I've bought it at least 6 times already (3 on console and 3 PC versions). With Skyrim VR being the greatest game made (over 800 hours in it so far). I will gladly buy it another time if it's running on Unreal Engine! I want this version in Skyrim Vr. I'll gladly fork over the $$$ for it the day it comes out! Come on Todd... we know you like milking this game for every cent you can get outta it!
Fantastic video. Does show what could be done. Now lets just dream a bit here and think of this as ether a vortex mod pack or a wabbajack mod list. Would almost make me use vortex. I think I once mentioned this before in one of the city show case videos. If you want to get a feel of real size cities try world of Rudra or it`s German version on Nexus. It will be interesting if they do bolt Skyrim to UE5 and how much Skyrim can be expanded on.
Walking behind Serana❤This is breathtaking! Thank you for upload! Do you have a hint for me where in epidemic sound I can find the awesome music I hear here?😊
OK Todd, now's your chance to sell me the game yet again. Build a team around LT and I'll be throwing coin. LT, well met kinsman. Keep up the great work!
Now we just need to implement this into a mod . No need for missions, just walk around in VR is the quest . P.S Was hoping you'd happen to come across the Dawnstar Sanctuary bwahahaha.
This is amazing but I have a request, would it be possible to repost this in 1st person view? I think it would be even more wonderful and more immersive. I just can't stand looking at her back filling the middle part of the screen for no reason.
if this can be implemented without resetting modlist then im good but if i have to start again i rather not cause it so difficult to build modlist. it took several year

Legend has it, Ulfric shouted Torygg apart after seeing the condition of Solitude's roads. "Damn Imperials and their misuse of our tax dollars."

This allows me to continue dreaming of a beautiful future for the gaming community. Beautiful work amigo Torres.
I don't even want TES6, just give me Skyrim 2.0 made by modders
Theyre working diligently on Skyblivion. It looks fabulous.
Going off their last few games, I wouldn't Bethesda anywhere near the next Elder Scrolls game if I could help it.

Bethesda should hire an entire team to remake Skyrim in UE5 and you would be an excellent creative director! Stunning work, Leo.
Or they could just release TESVI already instead of re-releasing Skyrim over and over.

Wake up, babe. A new series called, "A Walking Tour of Skyrim" just dropped.
This makes Solitude appear like the most beautiful place in Tamriel. I do believe that was the Blue palace teased at the end of the walk in the video.
