For sure, Fast and Furious is suffering from the hollywood "we need bigger and better" disease. But what made the first three movies actually decent movies to watch next to the car scenes was the human element, the emotions, trust and loss. And here with this short I feel that again, the human element of story telling. Not just a dumb "More action for the family". I loved the first three, I hope something like that comes again some time, maybe even more in this style.
@EvanLikesCars312 thank you so much! I used organic instruments at the start because the car is using its gas engine. When they switch to electric, I bring in more electronic instruments until the end. Lil concept you know!
it's awesome. i'd say i want to see more of the project (and i do) but at the same time this is something that I also want to keep small, short, and sweet. Cause sometimes, when something small and unique like this is done, it can be ruined by the successor ideas. Not that i think the writer of this would ruin it. but sometimes things should be one and done.
"it's a hybrid, it's a hybrid" all of you shut it. Doesn't matter cause it was under full battery power for the majority of the journey. Due to that being significantly quieter than the engine. Stop getting your panties in a twist.
I've driven a tracked vehicle with night vision goggles, although only one pair and not for stereoscopic vision (and that was slow, because they only go 55km/h). But it was very difficult to judge distances. It's definitely manly to drive a rally with them!
IR headlights and NVGs have been a thing for a while now. Family friend was on a special task force for drug enforcement up in the mountains where we lived. He said they caught a few drug runners with IR headlights equipped on their trucks for smuggling at night. Sofisticated cartels and smugglers have already been using them in a similar manner like this video.
Bros talking about my dream game like it is nothing. Instead metal gear I think of all the tactical shooters I play but honestly, aside from science fiction, Metal Gear is a really good tactical military shooter in a way. Only decent one with a single player campaign and a story. I love cars and travelling long distances with them. I also love post apocalyptic worlds and I specifically love the chaotic and lawless nature of them. I would sacrifice the half the world to make such a game and make it a game to played for ages to come.
insane how an animation can depict so much emotion. Even at the end, it really looked like the driver didn't want to be in that line of business after his codriver died
Its even better how it was dumped. It just goes to show that the people who collected the hostage didn't care about the fact his buddy died. Business was done. Cold.
He didn’t loose a co-driver. He lost a friend.. it was business for the client but the cost was personal for him. That’s why it’s not worth it.. not his first job, not the first friend lost.. all the money in the work can’t replace his loss.
I don't see many other comments talking about how the damn car is dual electric and gas powered. The quiet electric motor is so good for stealth as it runs through the forest practically invisible until the small emp takes it out. What a great concept
@@johnnymcthunderbolt6670 Military gear, likely EMP-shielded. The rest of the car is probably semi-cobbled together and far more susceptible to attack.
Not to be that guy but technically an emp would prevent the gas powered motor from working since you need a battery to create spark for the engine combustion.

Great homage to God's Rambo (Helge Meyer), the former Danish special forces soldier who, during the Balkan Wars, drove through combat zones to deliver food and medical supplies to civilians. His 1970s Camaro had been outfitted by buddies of his in the US military into an armored high-speed transport, complete with infrared-absorbing black paint, armor plating, a souped-up engine and low-visibility mods to survive small arms fire. In the midst of that hellscape, he and the people supporting him brought some hope to the people trapped there.

Yeah it really hit me at the end. No words needed to feel so much. Whoever scripted this understands comraderie between men very well. That unspoken bond. I got you, you got me mentality. It really hurt seeing that pile of cash sitting there where his Co-driver was.
I imagine that was truly painful, they look like a strong duo. They must have done many missions before and now that bond is broken. Damn, makes even me sad.
The sas thing is, this happened in real life too. When Markko Martin co-driver, Michael Park, was killed in an accident at Wales GB Rally in 2005, he was so heartbroken that he immediately left WRC after 2005.
I've once heard it that drivers and co-drivers are as close as married couples. If you see onboard footage, during unexpected events they practically speak and think for one another.
I found this through a comment section on instagram, and went in because of the action. But the narrative and direction are absolutely wonderful. You can feel the sense of uneasyness and doubt in the driver's eyes from the moment the hostage is taken out of the van. The confusion turned into pressure and then fear when they trigger the EMP landmine, and then the poignant regret when the money bag is thrown into the blood stained seat. The color grading, the animation, modeling and lighting are all beautifully done. Genuinely awesome work.
I never expected to see somebody going so rich into a "Rally" story and look at it, here we are at this absolute awesome way to tell a story of this dirty and speedy way of racing
i've never felt the feeling of having a dead passenger and the lost appetite for money when you get it like how this film gives, this is a Masterpiece!
9:04 I love the use of the watches to not only tell you more about the characters and their personalities, but also to signify the bond between the two of them, while still also being a critical part of the plot as well. I absolutely love this film so much, very well written.
You're missing the part in the end when he gets the money, first he gets startled (very human reaction to a sudden knock, considering who these guns might be) then you see the picture and the blood, with the bag of money in his friend's seat. Basically making this job an exchange of his friend, for money in his place. I know what ths driver was thinking, "was this even worth it?". Lemme know if you have anything interesting you noticed, I'd love to hear it!
Three points: 1) I am loving the idea of someone driving a Lancia in the post apocalypse, chiefly because if I had to settle on one car for the rest of my life it'd be a Delta Integrale and it's already a poor choice for reliability reasons lol. 2) Human animation is on the stiff side, but emotions in the eyes is animated perfectly. The car itself however is a character of her own: the moment she recovers from the EMP is like an animal being unchained, despite the fact we'd already seen the crew in action by then. 3) The sound design is sublime, extra compliments to the chef there.
at first i thought it was just gonna be a normal rally animation but instead got this badass concept of a lancia delta fitted with ir lights doing a mission in a restricted place and a beautiful animation

literally a week ago I was writing in my head a story concept of a blacklisted Rally duo getting hired to do a highstakes infil/exfil of an operator. Then I find this. What an animation. Absolutely fantastic. Real head scratcher as to why this concept hasn't been made into a feature-length film.

Lancia S4 tuned electric and sci-fi tech... For a night rally in the dark? Yes please! And the end "money don't buy everything", and no glorification of war like sadly to often is? Beautiful and heartbreaking.
Most modern civilian night observation devices, and I would say all the ones used by the military, have autogating which would shut off the device automatically if too much light is present to protect the device. The character in the short also called them "node" instead of "NODs." Somehow the color switched half way from green phosphor to white phosphor. It's one or the other. And lastly, the objective lenses (the lens facing outwards) were lit up as well, which isn't the case with the real things, since that would defeat the whole purpose of using them (since that means the enemy can see them). So... not really that knowledgeable unfortunately.
Absolutely remarkable. The fact that this entire animation was rendered such low light just makes this already soo much more mind blowing than it was in the first place
The black and white electric engine part was gorgeous with the piano. Having driven a Delta and growing up seeing those Rally, it is nightmare fuel to me. The double watch shot was magnificent, this was so well done, applauses to all of you. The 1K like so happy to be able to give it to you. Wish you the best.
I've worked with UE for ten years now - not achieving even 1% of this quality. I don't mean "graphical" quality alone, but the message, the passion and the cinematic style you have produced. It has been a long time since I've been lost in a short YT film like I was with this. I sincerely hope you continue to make your art.
Far out... This is one of the most unique films I've ever seen. So subtle. Mystery, intrigue. No glorification of war. Phenomenal work. Sharing with some of my groups.
As a long time motorsport fan but specifically more rally sim racing more than anything else & who recently lost my best friend (a dog of 13 years until the end of June 2024) this is a masterpiece. This couldn’t have had better timing for me. It’s already a passion that has helped deal with a lot of my emotions & hope I can become a real champ someday. Whoever had a hand in this God bless all you. RIP Moica I still miss you…
Oh my god this was amazing. So iconic. Hugely original, heartbreaking, beautiful animation and stunning story telling. All I could think at the last shot was, movie trilogy! Bro. Well. Done. What an achievement. So inspiring. Thank you.
Everything about this is so good! The cinematography, music, original creative genre that instantly explains itself with little to no dialogue. A+ you made the best film I've seen in a long time. It needs to be a movie or game
Brilliant. Loss of the codriver hit incredibly hard, perfectly punctuated by the thud of cash onto his seat. Watching made me long for something I've never even lost.
This is incredible. Not even mentioning the graphical fidelity that's possibly today. The environmental storytelling, the sound design, the vibe and the overall idea. Great work. Please make more like this
I wish I would of found this sooner. This is the kind of content that RUclips was meant for. Real content made by someone or a team, looking to showcase their skill/talent. If this was a full length film, I'd pay to see a trilogy. 10/10 Santiago Menghini.
Brother, this 9'56" short managed to take more motion out of me than way many other things I encountered so far, movies series or whatever. This is a masterpiece on piecing together storytelling in the small details. More people and the industry should look at things in this human perspective, you depicted, bravo! I hope it manages to get sponsorship, maybe, and create something even bigger out of it! Rally and SpecOps was something quite novel.
Reminds me of the same feels with the Ready Or Not tactical shooter, this film is what i rate just as amazing, it couldve been its own quick story game and i wouldn't play it twice for it. Absolutely amazing job with everyone in this film
We absolutely need a game around this events. Also many many compliments to the people who created this masterpiece, from writing to music to the animators themselves!!!
this is such a cool concept, two armed rally drives plus transporters delivering a unknown person from unknown location to a unknown group through a wild territory, but somehow you made it all coherent and riveting, the camera work, lighting, shot placement, all topnotch, better than most racing movies I saw for the past few years. im super glad that great story telling is still among us mortals, cheers mate!
This whole channel deserves more fame, entirely underrated, the horror short films are better horrors than most, I am genuinely keen on seeing these types of films in the cinemas
The short film Rally is impressive. It’s a personal and meticulous work, full of detail and perfectionism. The way it builds tension and engages the viewer is remarkable. You can feel the care and attention to every frame, making it an emotional experience. Santiago, congratulations on creating something so precise and impactful. It’s truly an amazing work of art. Greetings from Chile.
THIS would make a cool ass game with this narrative and this concept . Imagine this with some dirt rally physics , open world in the city and in the forests , stealth and loud mechanics (with the engine thing) and also trying to avoid the EMPs to not kill your stealth engine or when u are running away , and u being a smuggler trying to avoid those people and deliver stuff WOW
Honestly this needs to be a full length film! My wife and I watched this and it had her going the entire time and she is hard to please! 😂 This concept is very new and fresh and has extreme potential!!!
Rally drivers and their co-drivers are a special breed of people. The level of trust they have in each other is beyond words. This masterpiece puts that on full display. The scene towards the end with him dragging his co-driver out of the car, only to be replaced with some stacks of cash, hit hard. That said, this film was both visually and audibly stunning! Bravo!
I love every single frame of this short movie. I never thought someone would be able to incorporate Rallying into a thriller-action world. An absolute masterpiece.
This needs to get full length film. This was one of the best short films I've ever seen. The thrill of being left without power in front of millitary post is shivering. I hope this short film will get much more attention it deserves!
I absolutely adore films centered around unusual specialists like this, two rally drivers making blood money off a conflict laden with foul play. It's Plato's utopia directed by Dave Anthony. Thank you for the inspiration for both my writing and showing me that such realistic 3d animation is possible that was absolutely stunning. The physics on that corpse in the seatbelt were harrowingly realistic
This is incredible! I understand how difficult it is to create such a video. The animation of the characters looks very realistic, I especially liked these moments at 2:39 and 8:40. They seem to be small details, but they add atmosphere and realism.
This was genuinely a beautiful watch, I can only wish it was longer. Even though all you could see was their eyes, you could feel all of the emotions. This was an amazing story with so little words.
This was so fresh. Loved it. Hollywood should invest in these kind of stories. Enough of recycled movies/universes, remakes, more of the same every damn time. We need new, original, interesting stuff.
the atmosphere, the rain, everything was so immersive and beautiful. that car starting sequence was something else too SO cool such amazing sound design.
This really reminds me of the real story of Helge Meyer and his Camara in Yugoslavia. Beautiful job! Those who don’t know about this story go look it up, you won’t be disappointed :)
This is what a modern racing game could be. A rally game as a smuggler. I love all the real world influences like the IR lights n stuff from the Bosnian War Comaro to the more fictional modernization of it all this could be a racing game that is unique and interesting! Love this.
We need more. This is a whole world that I want to learn more of, the pilot and co-pilot, the blacked out repurposed rally legend, everything about this is perfect.
Whoa.. Im pinned to my seat from the first time i clicked the tumbnail till the end. Crazy work on everything, The emotions, Suspense, Plot twist. just 100/10 masterpiece.
This doesn't have anywhere near the viewership it deserves. Incredible work, please never stop producing content like this. had me invested from the beginning all the way to the end
these felt like a perfect mix between need for speed and call of duty if they made a movie. Thank you so much for such a masterpiece. Best regards from Argentina

I thought I was the only weirdo dreaming of something like that, so glad I was wrong
RIP Moica I still miss you…
This is by far, the coolest car related piece of media I’ve ever seen, hands down.
One of best unreal films i’ve seen in at least 6 years. Bravo.
Bra voooooo 🎉 brilliant in all ways…
Oh my god this was amazing. So iconic. Hugely original, heartbreaking, beautiful animation and stunning story telling. All I could think at the last shot was, movie trilogy! Bro. Well. Done. What an achievement. So inspiring. Thank you.
The Audio design is INSANE really INSANE.
Everything about this is so good! The cinematography, music, original creative genre that instantly explains itself with little to no dialogue. A+ you made the best film I've seen in a long time. It needs to be a movie or game
Geez, it made me actually emotional. The sorrow of losing a partner who you knew.
This is probably one of the best Cinematic short Films I've seen come out of UE, very nice!
which one is second best?
Lancia Delta Integrale , most successful rally car of all time.
Perfect choice.
Great work. Please make more like this
That 10mn was better than all the movies that've come out in the last year combined
I wish I would of found this sooner. This is the kind of content that RUclips was meant for.
Real content made by someone or a team, looking to showcase their skill/talent.
If this was a full length film, I'd pay to see a trilogy. 10/10 Santiago Menghini.
hi, what other things u found?
Lancia Delta Integrale. My favorite rally car of all time and a gorgeous beast of a machine. Chef's kiss!
this is such a cool concept, two armed rally drives plus transporters delivering a unknown person from unknown location to a unknown group through a wild territory, but somehow you made it all coherent and riveting, the camera work, lighting, shot placement, all topnotch, better than most racing movies I saw for the past few years. im super glad that great story telling is still among us mortals, cheers mate!
I'd watch a feature-length film based on this work.
The details are simply incredible, the way their eyes even adjust according to the light level is insane! this is a masterpiece.
This whole channel deserves more fame, entirely underrated, the horror short films are better horrors than most, I am genuinely keen on seeing these types of films in the cinemas
Holy sh*t him starting up the engine after his buddy got shot gave me goosebumps.
Love the use of actual pace notes
The short film Rally is impressive. It’s a personal and meticulous work, full of detail and perfectionism. The way it builds tension and engages the viewer is remarkable. You can feel the care and attention to every frame, making it an emotional experience. Santiago, congratulations on creating something so precise and impactful. It’s truly an amazing work of art. Greetings from Chile.
Soooooooo underrated! 10 minutes were better than the last 10 years of fast and furious combined.
AND with the legendary lancia delta...!? *chefs kiss*
This was incredible. I can’t express how badly I’d like to see more of this.
This would be a blockbuster film hands down. It's absolutely incredible!
Quickest 9:56 in a long while, thank you 👍
Absolutely amazing work!! This EPIC. Feature film please!
Such a wonderful script & execution.
Now, make this a reality as a mini series.
This video is stunning in every way. Wow, well done. Makes me want more of this driver and co-driver story.
This is what a modern racing game could be. A rally game as a smuggler. I love all the real world influences like the IR lights n stuff from the Bosnian War Comaro to the more fictional modernization of it all this could be a racing game that is unique and interesting! Love this.
The professionals choice... Casio. Amazing short film!
The sound of the engine at the end.... like the screams of a torn soul...... Great film. Hope to see more.
🥰
We need more. This is a whole world that I want to learn more of, the pilot and co-pilot, the blacked out repurposed rally legend, everything about this is perfect.
Whoa.. Im pinned to my seat from the first time i clicked the tumbnail till the end. Crazy work on everything, The emotions, Suspense, Plot twist. just 100/10 masterpiece.
You nailed the eyes. Probably one of the hardest parts of animation. Congratulations, loved the video 🎉👏
SPEECHLESS....Going balls out, pitch black at night, through the woods in a hybrid Lancia, with night vision..... my god
