    Hey Dino still love watching your videos. I met you on your Cape Breton leg of your Overland Adventure to Meat Cove and Cape Clear which was great fun. i found a product called Corrision Free sold at Canadian Tire. My jeep TJ is a 2006 and really needs the coating yearly. Ive tried many products but Corosion Free seems in my opinion to work great. I paid $99 for my entire Small 2 door TJ. what i like is the staying power of th spray. its black but much thicker than Fluid Film and i use the 16 dollar aresol cans to do touch ups throughout the long Cape Breton winters. I see that this video is 2 years old but you can always learn different products worth a try. I still use th cup you and your wife so generously gave me. take care and i hope all is well. i had the silver sport TJ and will always think fondly of you!

    I used Blaster Surface Shield on my new Wrangler. It's supposed to last 2 years. Purchased a case of it and used 3 cans to make a heavy coat. To anyone looking to DIY this, make sure you lay something down to soak up the drippings. Learned the hard way. The verdict is out but I'm confident it will work.

    We have the 2013 Jeep Sahara sprayed with Krown BEFORE winter. After we did the first full treatment, only the bottom of the Jeep is sprayed. It cost $60 to $80, plus two cans for $10 earch. I use them for the doors or other parts when needed or when I have access to the inside. I keep the engine compartment clean with water and soap, I even got compliments from the garage. I spray Krown into the seems, that's it.
    The frame has many spots of rust from the rocks. I use a wire brush and paint over with Tremclad. It's a cosmetic thing and done when I change the tires.
    My biggest concern with the Krown treatment is the oil that will be washed off. We do it before winter and the oil is either washed off by the road or dried onto the surface. When you do the treatment in Spring, it would take several weeks to dry. The first water crossing will wash off the oil and contaminate the river. Or it will be washed out from the water and mud puddles and end up in the river as well. If you think it's no big deal, take a big size bolt with washer and nut and spay it with Krown or WD40. Give it one wipe with the towel to remove the drops of oil and throw it into a glass of water. That will convince you of the potential damage you may cause in the outdoors. We make it a habit to power wash the Jeeps underside before we head out. That includes flushing off the dirt from the top of the skid plates. I stick a hose through the beams to get all the winter salt and oil out of the frame. Both are great places to collect the rust treatment liquids. Make sure you do this where you have a sewer system with oil trap like the car wash bay.

    I get mine done with Krown every year as well, even though I don’t drive the jeep in the winter but I do it due to all the trail riding and all the water that I have to go through rocks scraping and mud.
    Only thing I’ve noticed the last two years after I get my oil spray my check engine light comes on for the O2 sensor but what I find is once it dries out the check engine light doesn’t come back on after I clear the codes.
    Possibly I’ve got maybe a wire exposure or something at the oil gets on drives me crazy because every fall the check engine light comes on. I end up clearing the code and it doesn’t come on again until the next fall when I get it oil sprayed. I don’t know if it’s a coincidence but I do have O2 sensors sitting in my garage just in case LOL.

      Hey Renee, Just as an FYI, undercoating will protect the frame. Given that the Jl has aluminum body panels and doors, rust perforation will not occur on those places. Interestingly, I learned that the warranty provided applies to those places, and not the frame. I explain more in the following video. ruclips.net/video/FsHOUUCosVw/видео.html

    I did a ceramic coating from dealer when I picked my new 2023 Willys Sport - costs "arm and leg", but they claim it's good for 9+ years. Then I learned that all new jeeps these days should be rust proven from the factory? Should I assume the factory rust-proofing is as crappy as their halogen headlights ( kind of there, but it's really not), or the dealer screwed me by making me do something I didn't really need.

      Hi Slava,
      I recommend that you watch my corrosion video…
      Wrangler JL Corrosion Issue
      ruclips.net/video/1Yh305GDy3Q/видео.html
      …and the follow up class action lawsuit video.
      I believe people with newer Jeeps than mine are also experiencing corrosion affecting the paint on the body panels, not just the hinges. It’s a big deal for some, and ceramic coating may be the least of your worries.
      I don’t have any experience with ceramic coating to have enough information to say about what your dealer did in that regard. But I believe it doesn’t have any impact on corrosion or rust… which are different things. If you watch the videos you’ll know what I mean.
      I hope that helped.

    Great video. Question?
    You've had your jeep sprayed yearly and all that. Has it ever thrown a code?
    The reason I ask is I was debating getting my 21 sprayed. I've always had my vehicles done but my last vehicle, a 2014 escape, I had known done and it threw a code for the fuel pump.
    Turns out the fuel pump apparently sits ok top of the tank on the escape and it didn't like sitting in KROWN so it threw the code.
    Any similar issues on your wrangler?

    • @CheaperJeeperTV
      @CheaperJeeperTV  3 года назад +1

      Hey TratzParatz, yes, I have had my jeep Wrangler JL sprayed with Krown every year, and no it has not thrown a code. Interestingly I’ve learned that the warranty on Krown is just for perforation through the body panels. It does not include perforation of the frame. I have this in writing from Krown in an email. Given that the panels are aluminum, and the frame is steel, I wish that the warranty was on the frame. Also, you may want to check out my 100,000 km review video where I discuss some corrosion on the hinges, which would not be covered by Krown. Cheers.

    • @TratzPatratz
      @TratzPatratz 3 года назад

      @@CheaperJeeperTV so knowing this would you still recommend KROWN?
      I watched the video you linked in the review but as I'm sure you're aware, a lot of those options aren't really available here in Canada. Let alone I don't have the tools needed to spray it myself.

    • @CheaperJeeperTV
      @CheaperJeeperTV  3 года назад

      The warranty was a huge drawing card, but now that I realize it doesn’t apply to the frame, which was my main concern, I would now be open to other option, depending on what is available where one lives. I have read a lot of people on the Jeep Forums rave about fluid film. If that is available where you are, that would be a consideration. If Krown is the only one available, then it’s better than nothing, but I believe that given the body panels are aluminum, I believe the frame would be the main concern for whatever rust proofing you choose to do. Krown only warranties body panels from rusting through from within.
      The other issue as I pointed out in my corrosion of the hinges video, is that even new JLs have paint bubbling off at the hinges. No rustproofing will address that that I am aware of. There are many in the Forums that are sharing their experiences with this problem.
