      Forensic Detailing Channel what is the reason for this? Can it have a negative impact on the existing protection or (gulp) on the paint?

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  5 лет назад +11

      it wont damage the paint its just like a bonding siloxane in water. If I had to guess, your just putting too much of this material on if you used it every week. its a mirky white liquid so maybe you start getting like higher chance of bad application or like patchy product on the car. dont know, shouldnt guess, because it might just be because its a waste of product.

      Is Autoglym Polar range safe to use with other Autoglym polishes & wax? Will it strip previous polishes/wax or is it safe to use along side Autoglym products.

    • @colin79666

      joflynn5 Yes safe and pretty much ph neutral when applied at the right concentration. It is recommended to still use a wax and or sealant and treat polar seal as a top up.

    I tried polar seal yesterday. Very easy to use and left a nice gloss behind. A great product for me as I am time limited with two young kids. I would also agree that it is a product that comes into its particularly at this time of year when the weather prevents us spending as much time on the car.

    I’ve been using this system now for 2 months and I must say that it’s a cracking system. My car is 18 years old and it’s still as shiny as the day it came out the showroom. As for the seal even if you do get it on the windows no worries it acts the same as rain x with no watermarks left on any windows even the front window has no smearing when wipers are used. Also the polar seal does last along time when applied to the car. I’ve used it as Autoglym recommended and it still works after a month before applying a top up coat.
    All in all an excellent product.

    1k mile wash.
    Used AG alloy wheel premix.
    Then bottom half spray with Sfix HD.
    Then the AG foam trio.
    Cleans your car ok.
    Using a 56 bar cordless power washer.
    Cannot abide rainx or AG seal on windscreen.
    Crap at low speed in drizzle or mist.
    Great video

  • @ScepticFrog

    I'm testing these now, the snow foam is excellent, the wash is average, it doesn't remove stuck on flies as good as the 2-bucket method. And I think it's because the wash foam is being applied by cold water, whereas car wash in a bucket will be with warm water. However, the seal smells amazing and is really easy to apply, and the results easily as good as Autofinesse Aquacoat. My favourite is the seal and I can see the bottle lasting ages. For the wash you either should just do half a car at a time if sunny otherwise it could dry out, probably better in the winter to use the wash anyway. You also need to factor in buying 3 separate snow foam bottles to avoid cross contamination. For me I think I'll just be using the AG pre-wash snow foam, my normal 2-bucket wash & AG seal monthly.

    I've been trying these products for about a month now. I'm using a new Mitsubishi L200 as the test bed, it's been fully prepared, machine polished then been given a good couple of coats of their Super Resin polish. On top of that, I've used their Ultra High Definition HD wax.
    The only downside I've found is if you mix a strong solution of their Polar Blast. I used it one Sunday and there were traces of foam still present in the street the following Wednesday! So, I had to ease up on its use to stop my neighbours complaining.
    All in all, I like the range.

    I'll give the seal a miss as I hate the water activated ones (apart from on wheels) as they do end up on the glass and and time saved is wasted claying the screen! The wash stuff looks very interesting though. There appears to be a high degree of lubricity. I've been thinking about a Hozelock Y connector so that the PW can be attached along with the Hozelock trigger multispray - would allow the mitt to sprayed clean (like your 1 bucket method) and, on a warm day - PW soap, wash with mitt, rinse panel, spray mitt, repeat, all with no swapping of water supply. Yes, I know, I'll get it all in a tangle and fall over ... xD

    Hey John. I have just bought a new hose for my Karcher pressure washer. It's a long life anti kink rubber hose with a swivel connection at the lance end. I got it from Direct Hoses and it's one of the best investments I've made. Not only does it not tangle up like the thermoplastic ones but I seem to have more pressure output now. Its well worth £40 for 10 meters and is cheaper if you buy it through Ebay for some weird reason. Just search for Karcher Swivel Hose. 😀👍

    Hi Jon, I have been watching your excellent videos for a while and have purchased things on your recommendation like the das6 (great bit of kit). I finally bought the polar series set after watching your review and another RUclips review (a Scotsman wearing glasses!!). This stuff is amazing not only has it cleaned my Renault master swb van, it was easy to use (did buy 2 more snow foam guns for ease of use). Polar blast worked fantastic, polar wash was great, I think my 300ml total mix was asking too much for a vehicle that size, but the polar seal 40:250ml was spot on. The van is now sparkling even more, it already had a coat of ag hd wax. I am a big fan of ag products and will tell them this. Thanks for a great product review and look forward to many more as you are teaching an oldish (45) dog new tricks, keep up the good work 👏👏

    Hi Jon. Another great review.
    I have been following a similar system, but using standard car shampoos in my foam lance. Yes I snowfoam before I go in with the contact wash, but while the Bilt Hamber Auto Foam is doing it's thing, I get a shampoo solution ready. I also use dedicated mits for the top section, and ones for the lower sections and bumpers.
    I found it to be much quicker, and one less bucket to fill, and lug around. I also do half the car, then the other half. To be really fussy, I'm going to see how rinsing off with demonized water through a Worx Hydroshot helps speed thing up.
    What do you reckon ?
    Anyways, cheers bud. Look forward to the next one.

  • @ursocale

    Afternoon John et al,
    Used this for the first time today as a possible service additional service to offer. My points of note:
    Snow foam, quite effective, decent amount of dirt lifted and seen in the run off. Seen a lot worse from others
    Shampoo. Dried a little quick, considering it wasn't that hot today, and no direct sunlight. I may up the concentration next time, maybe. I think it best to maybe clean the wheels before applying the shampoo (either post snow foam, or post snow foam rinse) Or, as John suggests, maybe sides at a time.
    Sealant. Wow, for such a small amount needed to apply, worked very quickly and the beading afterwards for such a simple application was great. Didn't think the shine was there as much as I'd hoped. However, the car I used was covered in salt and no protection was on it already.
    If I had questions for AutoGlym, I've always worked top down, the instructions here are apply bottom up, just wondering why?
    Thans for the video John.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  5 лет назад

      Im not sure on the applying thing.. maybe top panels are the ones likely to be the hotest so if you start there its gonna get a longer dwell time.. maybe if you put more on the top it risks more going onto windscreen, dont think its critcally important though. Ive had it on the car for over a week and its been really cool. Im looking forward to seeing how it is next wash. And I want to try decanting like I said to use as a rinse aid. also interested to see if it makes future washes easier because the car is properly dirty again now because of all the like wet winter slush and salts and stuff. cheers mate great feedback

    I see you are experimenting the multi-mitt method using the Chinese eBay mitts. Love these mitts since you’ve helped me discover them in your one-bucket method video. If you properly take care of them, they can easily last for a handful of washes and then they are dirt cheap to replace. Brand new, I’ve actually found them softer than microfiber.

      synthetic wool isnt as good as other formats from the testing Ive seen. but that testing was on very soft plastics. on normal clearcoat its more about technique I guess. I wouldnt use them if it was critically important. but it is perhaps a reason why I generally use a cool mitt and just rinse clean it. dunno overal this wash method just made a lot of sense to me, even shooting this video (which slows everything down like you wouldnt believe) it was still so fast.

    Thank you for the great video..lots of technical information and cost breakdown. However having bought these three products I can honestly say they were a waste of money. The pre wash accomplished nothing. After applying a thick layer of foam and power hosing I still had the exact same dirt and grim on my car. I even wrote some words in the dirt before starting and all were still there after pre wash.. the actual contact wash cleaned the car . I used a soft brush..the same result would have occurred with any wash fluid. The seal smelled nice and provided a type of wax film so performed best of all three products. There is certainly nothing that makes these products worth the cost.. you would get the same results using any cheap shampoo as long as you are prepared to use a good sponge and lots of elbow grease..

    Hi thought this question and answer from Autoglym might be helpful to people considering these products, my aim is to try this set up for contactless cleaning through the winter months.
    Q - is there a recommended minimum time to apply / dry before it is likely to rain (e.g. to let the material fully bond etc). Plus when using in winter can you use without drying off the product (its so rainy sometimes).
    A - No minimum time, in fact you want to get this on and off as quick as possible. for the best possible finish apply to the car quickly and then switch to the water rinse and get it off quickly. This is not like a regular product that gets better or protects more the longer you leave it, the chemistry is different. On fast, off fast, no dwell time or curing time needed.
    As for the need to dry, the buffing action of a drying towel or similar can ensure the finish is even if a bit has been missed during the rinse. Ideally dry it yes, but if you do not need to it will be ok and you can catch any rinse missed areas during the next contact wash or application of Rapid Detailer or similar.

      its like the same for some of the US stuff that hits the UK. Was really impressed with what Ive seen so far of griots for example and its cheap in the USA but expensive here. I think the costs of shipping them or maybe import duty or something puts price tags up not sure though.

      Guys, this isn't about whether or not I can get the product. It's 'why would I spend $30 on a gallon of Autoglym product when I can get meguiars/Adams/optimum product at 1/2 of the cost?' quality products don't always make you a professional. Being a professional makes you a professional.

    • @ForensicDetailing

      If you have good lines you have used that are half the price just use those, or just buy it once for fun or just buy the polar seal perhaps. Thats fine, its like real and we all do that. Like I say theres some products I want to use over here that are normal prices but in the UK they are expensive, so its put me off buying. Cost per wash for this stuff is decent if you use what you need. But its also in their retail line. go into their trade line and the cost per wash suddenly plummets when you start buying like high concentrates in bulk.

    it so funny to watch the soap try to cling to a car that is well protected. Your video is living proof of who you are and how well coated and maintained your car is. This looks just like mine at home, it doesn't matter how fantastic and shaving cream thick my snow foam and mtm canon shoot out, it just can't stick to the car. I would only ask is the Snow Foam Trifecta as good as it sounds and is it a thick rich foam or very watery as it shows on your car? Thanks.

    Very detailed analysis. thanks a bunch dude. I think the recomendations are a lil inflated though. All that needs to be done is create a decently lubricated layer between wash mitt and paint. As you said can def get more washes out of the product than what is said.

    I recently used all 3 products. Worked pretty well although didn't get the bugs off the grille. Really need a hot wet rag for that. The seal was a bit of a pain to hand dry and then clean the windows but it looked good afterwards. No idea if it's better than a proper hand polish and wax but I assume it isn't.

    I'm a massive fan of Autoglym yet I feel this review was slightly under reviewed perhaps because the FDC needs to have more irons in the fire to keep all the free samples and views at a high level, just my opinion folks. Had to think twice in posting this given I'm a massive fan of FDC

    Interesting comment about diluting polar seal and making a spray sealant. That would be great for people who don't have/can't use a pressure washer.

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  5 лет назад

      its an important hack but Ive not tested it. The reason its important is like I say the concentration of polar seal for it to work in the lance has to be insanely high. So I will experiment myself with decanting small amounts wih lots of water to use as a post wash sort of drying aid as well. If it works you get some seriously good value out of this product because you could make litres of drying aid protectant for pennies.

    Mate I finally subscribed. Your videos are bloody engaging. We have only recently had this made available on the Aussie market and I'm too lazy to wax the car every 2 months so might give it a whirl for some protection. Even too lazy to aqua wax.

    • @ForensicDetailing

      this is defo for the lazy detailer :) just be carefull in that aussi heat mate. any spray and rinse product hate heat. so literally spray on blast off. work in sections rather than whole car if there is heat involved or try and work out of the heat if you can.

    Great video! I picked up the whole range and cant wait to try them out. Ive already got a foam canon to use with the polar blast and wash, but for the seal i bought a cheap karcher FJ6 foam canon to be used with the polar seal exclusively. Because the karcher foam canon is only 0.6l bottle, how much polar seal do you recommend i should put in?

    In my assessment you are the undisputed authority on online car detailing information - Love your videos mate!
    Quick question: would it makes sense to apply the Auto Glym Aqua Wax on top of the Polar Seal? Or is that unnecessary/counter-intuitive?

    • @ForensicDetailing
      @ForensicDetailing  3 года назад +2

      they are essentially the same sort of thing Joe. Polar seal is a mega concentrated version with usage instructions for use in a snow foam lance. Aqua Wax is like set up to be ready to use.
      With Aqua wax you could bust it out most like a sqray wax or spray and rinse, you can control where it goes more. Polar seal sort of puts a blanket everywhere because its gonna come flying out the lance. Heres a cool tip. Take some Polar Seal and mix about 50ml with 500ml of water and use it like Aqua Wax but a very cheap version of aqua wax. This works I love polar seal because its so concentrated you can create little haxs like this.

  • @asifr8962
    @asifr8962 4 года назад

  • @DasArab

    Washed my car today. BH AF in a pump sprayer, AG Polar Blast, AG Pure Shampoo, then dried with AG Aqua Wax. TBH After the first two stages I really didn't actually need to do a contact wash, but I did want to dry the car so carried through with the hand wash. Cant fault this routine. Been a long time Polar Blast Snow Foam user and just cant fault it. I did think about nipping to halfords and buying the Polar Seal, bit I really cant fault Aqua Wax. BTW what wheel brush was that you were using, my Daytona Speed brush really needs replacing.
