His energy and presence on stage was like no other. Nobody interacted with the crowd like he did. He spirit and memory is still with us. He influenced UK Garage MCs, Grime MCs and DNB MCs his legacy is immense.
Telepathy was a ghetto rave but the nights were phenomenal. I remember hearing Shabba D down there before he was on Kool FM. Wax Club Stratford!! He must have been a teenager at the time but so talented. There was a smog of crack smoke. The ravers were as high as a kite.
If you lived these times and you appreciate it there's no room for the haters. We are continuing Stevie Hyper D legacy which was that of positivity and good energy. A lot of artists could take a leaf out of his book.
Like lee allday says; death creates legend. That said, Hyper'D was always my favorite. Skibadee is (or was anyway) great, but Hyper was just so original. The way he used to sing some of his bars, nobody else did that, certainly not like he did. He actually used to sing some of his lyrics like nursery rhymes lol and make it sound crisp! One of a kind. Also, we never got to see him decline, like what's happened to Skiba. (Not hating on Skiba, I still think he's great, but inevitably he's not as good as he was in the late 90s)
