  • Men make up 49.5% of the US population. What role does the male gender - and perceptions about it - play in psychology, science, and everyday life? The answers may surprise you. Joel Wong, editor of Psychology of Men & Masculinities, will lead us through new research on the impact of masculinity on firearm ownership, capacity of care, and Black fathers’ parental engagement. Panelists will discuss their recent articles in the journal, offering insight on the ways “maleness” affects human behavior. There will be a moderated Q&A so participants can pose questions. If you study people of any gender, you should join us. This episode is part of “Science Showcase”, APA’s new webinar series on hot topics in psychological science research, presented firsthand by the authors who did the work.
    Panelists:
Angelica Puzio, PhD, Postdoctoral Fellow, Standford University
Nick Borgogna, PhD, Assistant Professor, Texas Tech University
    Moderator:
    Y. Joel Wong, PhD, Editor-in-Chief, Psychology of Men & Masculinities and Professor, Indiana University, Bloomington
